serenity in
harmonious disturbance,
the waves come and go
and there is no greater joy
than to just follow their lead.
Wadding in summer heat
Waving flowing sea of wheat
Waves of green smell sweet

On Saturday night in Waikiki
The teenagers turn rather freaky
Though blue as a smurf
They all love to surf
Like a Kahanamoku tiki!
Great White Sharks are a Gold Coast wonder
Though crocodiles may steal their thunder
But all surfers know
It is time to go
When kangaroos line up Down Under
surf the universe let the wave carry your soul forget time, calendar, your phone, dollars ,
even death don’t let the material things on earth be your final fantasy

To Surf Ocean We Would Visit
What we declared would be exquisite,
When to rambunctious ocean did visit;
Pure delight,
In each sight,
After we had left always would miss it.

Take Short Hop Than Surf and Shop
What we should do is take a short hop;
After reaching end shall surf then stop;
Dream we knew,
That came true,
Where we want to ride waves and shop.

Surf Sound Around Made Heart Pound
There is something about surf sound,
I do love to hear when it is around;
On surfboard ride,
And then has dried;
Breaking on shore makes heart pound.

Beach bum in August felt wild in the breeze,
strutted 'round trying to appease the seas.
He posed with his beach flip-flops,
did daring loops and hip-hops~
‘till waves proved his swagger was just a tease.
Surfing
I am not always under,
But I haven’t learned to surf the top.
Arriving at the trough and wondering
When the pain is going to just stop.

Mother Ocean please
Send me waves of such beauty
I need Therapy
Dedicated to my Dad on Father's Day 2013
The man who introduced me to the ocean and educated me about it and gave me reason to love appreciate and respect it.
There once was a dame named violet,
Who tried to surf without getting wet.
So she climbed aboard,
Her ironing board.

Days grow shorter apace
the sun races ‘cross the sky
Evening shadows intrude
on our afternoons
The waves collapse a bit
day-by-day in on themselves
Summer’s endless surf
~ stowaway on the shelf
At surf breaking, plot emotion
In play of innocence
Make void centric meditation
Blissful luminescence
Joy continuum thus
Without making a fuss
We go where God takes us
Simply looking
At surf breaking

The Surf
BREAKS HIGH RESTLESS
Angry
VIOLENT WHITECAPS
People
still comb for shells
Around the bend
Then back again
CROCODILE SURF
Curving surf and plunging
Breakers open up and and snarl over
And slap down closed,
Crest of breaker a jagged rim
Dripping long fangs of water
Before snapping shut,
And the surfer disappears
Threshing helplessly in the spume
Of the jaws and the foaming saliva.

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr. 2020©
Susie was tired of ironing one day
Wanted to use her board in a fun way
Jumped on top, like a surf board,
it crashed to the floor, oh lord!
Now she's stuck on the board in the doorway

For hygiene no hope,
No recourse to soap,
Cleanliness for rope
Germs no longer grope;
Easy patrols: lope
To those who hate soap
Do you ever cope?
All Catholics Nope!”
For I could tell Pope.
Soap is Next father
Of laundry’s lather
Dwarfed only by surf
But to Dirt still rough
Use it no odour
You’ll smell the other.
The sapphire surf is a lover
and few can deny her a kiss
that under her bosom hover.
The sapphire surf is a lover
and once lured beneath her cover,
she swallows you in her abyss.
The sapphire surf is a lover
and few can deny her a kiss.

A randy surfer from Malibu Crest
Untied the bikini top off of Celest
You’re my Betty let’s hang loose
As he tried for her caboose
She slapped his hand away from her breast
Aloha Barney and get off my turf
You’re a randy dude, who can’t even surf
Rico won’t tell you again
I bet you’ve never hung ten
She's not your Betty, uncool of you Murph
If you have clouds on your horizon
that means you have the sun over head
If you have troubles now
treat them like snow flakes on a summers day
then just watch them melt away
if you have a mountain to climb
take that first step
and if the only way you see is down
remember life is a roller coaster
but most of all ride the wave my friend
ride the wave .
Red Surf
Water-witches wailing,
Hear them in the waves,
Toward them we are sailing,
Willing siren-slaves.
Soon our ships are crashing,
Crushed on fang-like rocks,
Shattering and smashing,
Feel the fatal shocks.
Lured by grotto lamp-fires,
Lulled by sweetest song,
Bled by mermaid vampires,
Thirsting in a throng.
(In memory of George Darley, 1795-1846)
with a short referee sparred
life of son had been marred
when he received a red card
tough thought tried to dawn
son Shawn who became a pawn
serve in Army had gone
longed to see a leaping lizard
being absorbed when big blizzard
turned Shawn into weird wizard
When Shawn would really rally
while he did dilly down in valley
for long time had surfed with Howie
