Premium Member Seven Up
Gold dawn came early
Seven bluebirds on rouge skies
rising up in song
Discovery awaited
on lavender streets up high

Cool breezes were caught
on a 7am flight
Green trees fell away
Sunup had soon turned orange
in the season of the sun...

Premium Member Treasures At Sunup
On dawn skies, peaches
drifting by sable shadows
at coastal sand dunes
Precious gold between my toes
Blue roses on the wild sea

Fading stars, sequins
Turquoise at the horizon
Citrine golden hour
of the fresh breath of the wind
and the gemmed birds uprising...

Premium Member Sunup
beyond blue mountains
deep gold horizon sunrise
a peach rose unfurls

suddenly so green
and baby jays are singing
blindsided by spring

rise up at pink dawn
the early bird is crowing
miles before moonlight

sweet kindergarten
where minds begin to wander
here there everywhere...

Sunup Surprises

Sunrise celebrates dawn's exquisite amethyst flush
 Mauve melding into magenta's fuschia blush;
Sunup razzle dazzle watchman - copper rooster - rises
Signals first light hues in shades of coral-pink surprises

Beginning To Ascend
M-ist and haze Friday
A-re both nowhere in sight;
Y-our birthday has come, after the Thursday night.

A-s you tread on the horizon,
Q-uit not despite the raindrop;
U-se the sixth January chance
I-n shining at sunup.
N-ever mind the hardship, heartaches soon will end;
O-pen your eyes and see the beacon beginning to ascend....

Dawn Walk
Cannot sleep,
have to walk through the dark,
the unlit rain.

Sunup arrives
trundled out by harnessed clouds.

For a melting moment
liquid flamingos dance across
a shimmering horizon.

The new sky roams around
for a while
adrift in its painted landscape,

then it slips through a gap in the fence,
gleams out
on wet unfolding wings....

Premium Member if I had a lemon clock
Sugar was misnamed for she was perpetually unhappy.
If I had a pony, I could cheer up.
She got a pony and was more dour now.

If I had a fire truck, I would smile from sunup to sundown.
We went into debt buying her one.
She was happy for eighteen minutes tops.

If I had a lemon clock, I could die happy.
We got her one.
But it did not work....

Sunny Sideshow
to inch upward and be the sunrise?
or to sink slow and be the sunset?

      the sun hangs hesitant, frozen
           on the dreamy, silvery horizon,

can't seem to make up its mind,
what to do, what to be today,

but sunup this side of the skyline
is really sundown on the other....

18,988 Days
18,988 Days

If you started your life before years were known,
There would be no way to commemorate,
The year you were born,
But days could be counted first one then you were two.
Because sunup and sundown was all they knew.
So rejoice that 52 years is all we now celebrate,
Because if you were around,
When only days could be counted,
You’d be 18,988...

Too Many Candles
Too Many Candles

If you debuted in this world,
Before years were known,
There would be no way to commemorate,
The year you were born.

But days could be counted,
First one, then you were two.
Because sunup and sundown was all they knew.

So rejoice that 52 years are all
We now celebrate,
Because if you lived,
When only days were counted,
You’d be 18,988....

What Matters
I get up each day when the sun comes up.
I drink some coffee from my cup.
I think to myself what is there to do.
So I write down some things that need to be done.

From sunup to sunset each day is full of things to do.
But the things that matter are the ones that help us
Through
whatever comes each and every day.
If we have some Faith and trust along the way....

Ode On a Green Apple
Shaped like a
polar magnetic field
but more greener
with a stub of a stem
let me see here
your name is
Granny Smith
Crisp and Tangy
4017, Produce of USA
A fine specimen indeed!
I hope the fruit pickers
didn’t put their
greasy, grubby
Beaner hands
all over your
luscious
surface.

The rough world’s bruised you
but not enough to save you.
You die tomorrow at sunup....

Grace From the Almighty
M-erry mood opens the day
A-fter the night in the nook;
R-ise of the morning sun
I-nspires your heart,
A-ura, and look.

E-ventide shifts to sunup
S-eventh shine in January;
P-ure delight delivers the goods,
E-nding the midnight misery.
R-esults wanted to be produced
A-re done in perfect harmony;
N-ew blessings come from the sky,
Z-one of grace from the
A-lmighty....

Soon time's change will be calling,
Its spring forward then fall back.
Shades of night are slowly falling,
Makes my head go clickty clack.

We work and save until we retire,
Thinking we'll enjoy a life of ease.
Only to find we're about to expire,
And Daylight Saving Time's a tease.

None of this seems to make sense,
I've never seen this time we save.
At least so far I'm not past tense,
Its sunup till set, until the grave....

Questions For a Stranger Ii
Who is your god?
Who is your friend?
I could sit here for eternity
Asking questions like
Who is your lover?

Do you feel the shade of a linden tree between your lips?
Do you trust a swan gliding across a lake?
Do you read poetry at sundown or sunup?
Do you like the fusing of words?
Do you like the fusing of worlds?

If so, what is the difference?
Who is your lover?
Who is your god?
Who is your friend?
Who is your-my-self?...

A Workman's Pride
He works in the field
All the day long.
Though laboring to exhaustion,
On his lips is a song.

From long before sunup,
Till hours after dark,
He’ll continue his task
And hear his dog’s faithful bark.

Many will wonder
What is his gain?
Why the continual
Toil and pain?

He’s proud of his ability
To long endure.
Providing for loved ones
A bounty that is sure.

At the end of the day,
His head he’ll bow.
He’ll thank his Lord
He had succeeded somehow....

Premium Member Because I Love You
You always say I'm talented
And for that I say thank you
But understand the reason
Why I do what it is I do
It's because I want to impress you
I suppose that's immature
But I love hearing you say you like it
And so I give you more and more

No song too difficult to learn
I don't seek for renown
I'll work on things all day and night
From sunup to sundown
I want to make you happy
I want your heart to sing
And in order to accomplish that
I'll do anything...

My Little Sis
When I played sheriff in a desert town,
I would ride out at sunup on the chase.
My little sis would watch me with a frown -
She always saw the worry in my face
For she knew that death had entered the race.

When I returned she would swing on the gate,
Give me a broad smile and a tender kiss.
"Did you get 'em, Roy? Send 'em to their fate?"
Now she is gone and Lord knows that I miss
"Did you get 'em Roy?" from my little sis.
