A Workman's Pride

He works in the field All the day long. Though laboring to exhaustion, On his lips is a song. From long before sunup, Till hours after dark, He’ll continue his task And hear his dog’s faithful bark. Many will wonder What is his gain? Why the continual Toil and pain? He’s proud of his ability To long endure. Providing for loved ones A bounty that is sure. At the end of the day, His head he’ll bow. He’ll thank his Lord He had succeeded somehow.
