Close The Curtain Why ?
it started to rain on the night that we first decided
we staked a mortal claim toward the things we put away

A Pretty Face
Give me anguish that feels like my heart has been staked,
Give me betrayal, entrapment, and hatred of my race.
Give me shame, humiliation, and painful disgrace,
But please oh please spare me, a pretty face....

Poisoned Love
As i lay limerencing bout you
your strong hands
grab my waist
mesmerised by the passion
and your presence,
i didn't realise
how vehemently you staked my heart
i lay dead,
your eyes still looking into my eyes
just your's blinked,
mine did not....

The Blackbird
The road of runes
The blackbird shrieks
Night befalls like my brother
The sequence is stet
from a lonely toad stall
Winding seawards
over mossy fields
Unbuttoned time
Old men craving
in ancient fields
emotions staked in mud
neon hopes fuse the last of day...

Where Dreams Have Laid
My writing conceals a deeper truth
than common sense abides
Each word unwraps a higher sense
than fame or fortune buys
Every breath I take, the future staked
the moment crowned as King
All beds remade where dreams have laid
—the present everything

Say
Start with fond feel
Ask joy to heal
Yield cheer that thrills
Yes work your way
Opt words that play
Urge charm to sway
Speak with deep voice
Apt thought staked choice
You know firm poise
Aim sure and true
Reach lines that cue
Touch spurs fine hues

I Dug a Hole and Found No Hugs
i dug a hole and found no hugs
i can only imagine
what i can't see
like that albatross
that you have in your cage
the one that befriended
your body
infiltrated your soul
to have his way with you
... and now you're miserable
what can i do
I've staked my claim
respectfully
i asked for coffee
a simple gesture

Crossroads
Not quitting
Just a stop to turn right
Please don’t get staked with indecision
Little or no wasted time makes you a winner
Losers at point, quit
Confusion and Blurring is, but
Conviction and Beaming directs
Take a breath with a stop
For the right-turn, not
Death with a quit
Am at Crossroads
Parting ways to destination, ‘Dream’
Here I come from,
the Crossroads

The Arsonist
You set the bridge on fire, burning away all of our connections
You are the most calculating arsonist looking back in reflections
You might as well have staked my heart like vampire rejections
You dragged me in like smack spoon fed with sweet cooked injections
I, no more than a self-proclaimed codependence need for interjections
I was lucky enough to get away from your endless contradictions...

Buddy Can You Spare a Comment
I feel like I can move forward now
I have completed what I think is my legacy ?
I've staked my reputation on it
So if you want or feel the urge to comment
Please go ahead make my boring day
As to me even criticism I do not mind
At least you took the time
I will be fine I am in my prime
Buddy can you spare a dime
Or a second of your time
To fill in my comments line...

Forgiveness Comes Last
I want your forgiveness to come last:
You often go back to a sin too fast.
I could you with soldiers grenades blast
And later pained flag fly at half mast,
Even as onlookers are aghast;
Of the sorry news try to broadcast;
My guilt and worries soonest cast aside...
your benefactors you leave red-eyed
As though they had for days on end cried
Or in public staked and lost their pride
Or spent and spent and up pockets dried....

To Daniel F O'Leary
To Daniel F. O’Leary:
I always pass your plaque
On mornings when I take my walk;
I note it coming back.
Your birth in 1938
And death at 64
Are all I know about you
But I wish that I knew more.
Yet someone cared enough
To place a plaque upon a bench,
Which tells me that perhaps you were
A stand-up guy, a mensch.
Though others may not notice
Or think twice about your name,
In my imagination
You have staked a tiny claim....

Natures Revolt
Nature’s Revolt
It was a day of woe
As we stared and uttered wails
When we beheld an awesome sight
Of priceless loss
It was a universal eve
When the world was sparkling the sky
With thundering shouts of joy
To greet the arrival of a saint
Who staked it, to be a saviour
But we were rooted out of our moods
With mortals wails taking us to the orients
Where we beheld nature untimely revolts
Against life in the Asian world...

Thunderstorm
After last night's thunderstorm
A heavy fog remains
Drip-drops from oak leaves a constant
Music entertains
Visibility maybe 300
Yards, birds slowly awake
A gradual orchestra sound
Each his area staked
Waterdroplets upon the moss
Slowly slips, then slides off
At the speed of eons quietly
Slides, not a fast doff
Sunday morning enjoyment free
A few minutes with God
Let not Satan rob the spirit
Of its fill as through life plod ...

Tidal Flow
Pinks and blues, summer hues
Walking on the shore
I etch her name into the sand
The tide flows in to pour
Eraser fluid over it
It thinks that it's so smart
It thinks because her name is gone
She's no longer in my heart
Foolish tide, recede again
Now try to find her name
You've defeated your own purposes
The ocean's staked its claim
Her name now drifts invisibly
Washed into the sea
But if you listen to a shell
You'll hear her calling me...

I Am Not a Looser
I am not a looser.
For I played life to my ability’s brim.
Fouled at times, but often stroked fairly.
Nonetheless I did not win.
Did cross limits, did obey norms,
Staked everything, even not owned ones.
Banked on me and myself.
Well, I cannot make it.
Something slipped, I don't know what,
Some times flipped, but I can't figure out.
In retrospective, I did not reach there
The mark was way beyond me.
Since then I am staying here; stagnant....

Dramatic Monologue
Wine Country
Valleys wide of rust and green
Rolling hills, such vintage green
Woven rope of twisted vines
Purple hues of grape divine
Paths between the rows of braid
Staked in strands so neatly laid
As if a Sun God reaching down
Had trailed his fingers 'cross the ground
Welcome signs that offer tastes
Archway drives, with landscaped gates
Merlot reds, a richness deep
Zinfandel, a year to keep
Perfect day, a sweet escape
A Champagne toast to celebrate...

Cat Came Unglued
Standing in the doorway, somewhat dishabille,
the neighbor's cat had staked out my grill.
The night before we'd barbecued
some fish and fries and other food.
And now the smells lingering still,
perked up that puss like a pep pill.
At first, I heard disquietude
stalking my deck with attitude.
And in her eyes, a look to kill;
I gave her space with no ill-will.
Out of that grill flew mouse and brood.
What happened next? Cat came unglued.

Thin Ice
I walked the straight and narrow; took a flying leap of faith.
I staked the risk of seven lives. She asked me for an eighth.
I gazed across the frozen pond she wanted me to cross.
I weighed the possibilities, the profit and the loss.
I judged it a feasible burden, and so
I abandoned a wise friend’s advice;
I filled my pockets with rocks as
I prepared to cross thin ice.
I walked the straight…
I staked the risk…
I gazed across…
I weighed…
I judged…
I …

Final Blast
Lines in the sand
Blanks on the screen
Cocaine on the card
No apple in paradise
Castles in the air
Veiled in innocence
Loaned to the banks
Fruit cocktail spiced
Staked pigs fly high
Masked ignorance
Small fees incurred
Apricots date peaches
Limitless sky
Showering curtains
Canned laughter
Hemlock imbibed

Her Dragon Heart
Her breath of fire that lights the flame
Of love; her heart has staked its claim.
A mystery held in the night
Resolved in passions of delight.
Her breath of fire incites my soul
So destiny becomes my whole.
In her power, this simple boi,
Can know of all that’s love and joy.
If only I could help her see
There is a place she can be free.
A place where sacred dragons fly
And love can hear an angel sigh.
In this sweet mountain home of mine
I’d show her love and all divine....

So Busy
I have pinched, pruned, planted, fertilized and even mowed...
I have dug, dressed, divided, harvested and hoed.
Then I thinned, trimmed, transplanted, sprayed, sowed and staked...
Then I wheeled, watered, weeded, rototilled and raked.
I loosened, limed and layered, that's me; gardening by the book...
But there was one thing I neglected, I was so busy I forgot to look.
My flowers were as beautiful as could be...
And I was so busy I didn't see.
