De' Soup

De’ Soup

A favorable mixture
Of succulent morsels
From around the globe

Awakening the senses
Enticing me senseless

Rich words for the mind
To devour

Refined Repairs

It’s not always a silver lining sought
when the spirit of self is broken…
Much better for self
is that gold refined touch
sent forth from the forges of heaven…
Ever humbled and grateful
for the purity of His Love
Signed,
The Clay Pot

Heart's Fold

Heart’s Fold

Between the chapters
of before and after---
memorial’s rose

A withered reminder
still holding its scent
caressed in pages
that still remember
love lent

Between the paragraphs
of now and then---
heart’s fold

Heart's Choice

Heart’s Choice

Caged love’s
opened door
invisible
bonds that hold you within
engaged

Freedom
in heart’s grasp
compulsory
need to be loved in turn
entraps

Released,
loving self
empowering
the heart that lives within
set free

Snow blow
White show

Cold nose
Froze toes

Snowman
Good plan

Snow whips
Nose drips

Snow bites
Nose wipes

Snow glare
Blind stare

Snow drifts

Snow streams

Snow melt
Spring felt

Snow done

Meditating

Meditations Put another log on the fire Sit awhile, enjoy its warmth Listen to the crackling As sparks enlighten Visions in the flames No words need spoken No worries allowed This day set aside To simply listen To the silence Deep within By: Debra Squyres 01/17/13

Earthbound Angel - 2

Earthbound Angels (2)

You know him,
or perhaps
someone like him,
and average guy
a bit shy
no wings
allowing
Him to fly

Average,
says many,
but to family
He’s plenty:
Helpful
Giving
Loving
And kind

He wears
his words
on a sleeve
as his bond;
Love
and truth
His daily
motto

Sun Squeezed Yellow

Paint me a day
with lemon squeezed yellow
Lime green meadows
beneath bluebell skies mellow

Brush in the shoots
of daffodils sunny blooms
delegating room
for a robins red belly plumes

Stroke in this scene
daisies white with sunny smiles
altering this trial
of winter’s cold, but for awhile

Caged Silence

Caged Silence

A whispered voice
on a gentle breeze
hushed by the ripple
of rustling leaves,
goes unheard.

The silent spinning
of a mournful tale
inked on a page
soon grows pale,
goes unread.

Desires of hearts
straining the seams
stay tucked away
to cavort in dreams,
go unspoken.

Morning's Releasing

Into the wind
the heart speaks
the words
that stay hidden
from all others.
Joining with them
the heart spent
words spoken by
sisters and brothers.

The leaves of the trees
seem to gather,
with ease,
every heart-spent phrase.
Waving them each
to the heavens
in turn
then releasing
them in the breeze.

Shavings and Dust

Little by little
others whittle
until there’s nothing more
while the shavings,
feeling the pain
of each slice,
still believes
that Love
will restore…

Slice by slice
others cut and dice
unwilling to make amends
while the dust
still believes
a glued amen
of Love
will eventually
mend…

Long Pier

the pier ghostly
as the fog rolls in---
weighing anchors
was it not here
we met the first time?

heavy mists
of memories
making steps---
timbers creak
yet, I find you not

this dampness
that rolls from my eyes---
tangible streaks
that exhale
the unforgettable you

Poet Petals

Once chance did happen-by my dwelling
Found within it some thoughts distilling
Sat a spell
Listened well
Savoring a few it found compelling

Chance seems never to stay around long
It’s always been a mere tag-a-long
Ideas smitten
Went unwritten
More petals in the winds of poets’ song

Haunting Display

The mourning heart lives
Nestled within life’s decay
Perpetual memories
Stream loops on replay

Symbolic references
Gathering dust on display
While casketed treasures
When viewed bring dismay

Another season spent
With happiness in slumber
Stagnated remembrances
Of a past life encumber

Day's End

Crestfallen at sunset
Shadows fading dim
The last of the day
rests, now,
on horizon's rim.

Reasoning slips away
in clouded thoughts
of broken promises.

Alone rests uneasy
with the spirit
of compromise.

Prayerful devotions
beckon
the days emotions;
Be still.
Rest now.
Find peace!!

Frosted View

Moss fern
Grows on the tree
Outside the kitchen
Window for all to see
But, seen only by me

Blurred vision
By the frost that grows
On the Window
Pane melting slowly
As the sun touches
The crystals frozen

Water like tears
Stream down the glass
Outside the kitchen
Window for all to see
But, seen only by me

Crystal Colors

My eyes beheld the splendor
Of the icy display
Trees graceful bends thrust
Frozen in a crystalline crust

My ears heard the crackling
Of the frozen display
As some limbs give way
To the load of the day

My eyes behold the brilliance
As sun touches ice
droplets of water give birth
to rainbows falling to the earth

Oak Haven

Silhouetted against a rising full moon
Stands a lone live oak in solitude
A haven for homeless woodland creatures
Graceful limbs mark its features
Untouched as land was cleared for wood
Its beauty left it where it stood
“Come unto me all ye homeless and broken
Herein find ye rest” soundlessly spoken
