Guiding Light
A shaft of light gleams,
Through the murky illusions:
Rocky coast divulged.

A mariners guide,
Through the treacherous coastline:
A symbol of home.

When I opened the door
The light reached
Into the dark corners of the room.
Particles of dust
Floated in the shaft of light.

Sleep in peace,
Take your rest
Weary from the day.
Don't let my concerns
Disturb your tranquillity....

Continuity
Continuity
Inside the greenhouse
I laid out dead roses
And the smell of spent
nature made it clear
no waste of tears
as the sun bore down
on sterile beds.
Only the beauty of dust
sparkling
in a shaft of light
danced a promise
 of continuity....

Oh summer trees of green
under summer hazy heat
I lay still in the hammock
listening to sounds of nature
a shaft of light was cast
through dense leaves
a cool breeze rocked me
into a serene light sleep
awakened by a loud crack
my restful mind confused
to late the heaven's poured
drenched became my fate....

A shaft of light, this spine.
Bounded by bones,
draped in rottables.
Pathway of consumables,
the lone remarkable.

Still, I hold straight
the light.
Still, I insist on
this dent
this where
this place
on my cushion.

At start, spine
straight.
Incense stick
straight.

By now, spine
straight.
Incense:
tendril & ash....

A Day In May
Awakened by a shaft of light
Which filters through into my room
I gaze, enraptured by the sight
Of mauve wisteria in bloom.

The birds unite to serenade,
Cyanic skies embrace the day
And verdant oaks stand on parade
To greet this merry month of May.

Shaft of Light
In the deep dark night
There isn't a single light

The clouds start caving in
Like they had never been

The next thing was a miracle
It seemed so magical

A shaft of light
Struck through the thick clouds with all its might

It filled the dark night
With light so bright

The bitter darkness
Was finally overcome with brightness

Vanishing Spirit
Time reconstructing the construction
cell by cell eroding,
trying to remember something
something beyond my grasp,
There is a vagueness
a shaft of light
Through a darkened door.
a transient brilliance
that fails to illuminate.
a truth that i once carried
lightly on my back
something essential has gone
As if its floating out there
among the stars....

Premium Member A Shaft of Light
The overcast sky, the drizzling rain,
the weather dictates my mood again.

Grey and black clouds block the sun.
A dismal morning has begun.

A break in the gloom is what we need
as through the clouds a shaft of light bleeds.

One small ray brings a lift to the heart.
I hold my breath ... and watch the clouds part.

There is subdued talk in the lowlight rooms
And outside the skies wear a dove grey bloom,
The wintry light seems brittle edged
To the suns brief course, the day is sped.
Gold and green leaves on their branches whip
Robins fly and land with a quick hop skip,
Then clouds are parted
A shaft of light comes through,,
As before night falls; bids us the sun adieu.

Erie sounds cry from the blackness of night
Dark clouds casting shadows over tonight's moonlight

Stumbling down an unfamiliar path I wind
Among obstacles challenging both body and mind

A wrong path taken, will I find home?
Or spend a night among nothingness alone

Then in the distance I see a single shaft of light
A candle in the window, everything's all right!

I see these cumulus clouds before me They start to open, and what did I see Ray of sunshine bursting through the middle A sight to behold I can’t belittle It’s like the sparkle of a diamond A calming, peaceful ray, a silent sound Just as soon as I saw this gorgeous sight It vanished back to the clouds of the night

Tear Filled Eyes
A stabbing pain moves swiftly threw my heart
Tear filled eyes
Slowly one trickles down my cheek
I hear A far away song of love
It slowly fades away
I walk a silver shaft of light
knowing when I find the end
I will find her
But the light has turned black
And the end I never found
Smile I try
On the outside I smile
But on the inside
I cry oceans of tears
Gone forever
But I still love you...

Shaft of Light
It was a dark and lonely night
Suddenly there came a shaft of light
My heart was jumping out of my skin
While trying to keep all fears within
I became silent, my legs became stiff
I felt like I was pushed of a cliff
Then suddenly I saw a strange ship
I got so frightened that I bit my lip
It came and disappeared
Then again it reappeared
Is it aliens or just a dream?
Maybe some things aren’t what they seem

Shaft of Light
The sky is black like the night No moon no stars no guiding light The wind
is screaming Holding back the sun`s beaming The clouds are sobbing tears
from the sky Eyes look to the heavens asking the question why Suddenly a
shaft of light blinding all that see Clearing the blackness of a world of what
could be A ray of sunshine now envelops the land Telling all being alive is
simply grand...

Dove of Peace
The sky  is dark  and foreboding
the sky of the night waits
The eerie shape of the moon is hidden
When suddenly a small chink appears
a weak light is projected downward
getting stronger by the minute
In that shaft of light is the shadow
of a bird carrying in its beak
an olive branch he flies off
towards the fighting  zone
where the  heads of
Government are convening
Dropping the branch on the table
he chirps then flies off to wait....

A Pocket of Sun
Flying through gray clouds, visibility nil,
Then a pocket opens up, you feel a thrill.

A rays of sun filters it's brightness upon you.
Giving you hope that the skies will become blue.

Such a small thing, a bit of sun can spell relief.
On vacation you need sun to swim in the reef.

Standing on the sand, I'm looking up to the sky.
There are more sun rays than gray, my spirits are high.

Through the Window
Slivers of light
make their way
         into my room
You can watch the
      dust in the sunbeams
We're always
         trying to catch
a shaft of light in our hands
Always missing the goal
Breathe deeply
The air is redolent
           with spring
Let's not despair!
     Light keeps filtering
through
Though we can't touch
     or catch it
We surely can take
      delight
In the warmth
       of the sun
As we continue to orbit
     the nearest star...

Premium Member One February Day
Driving to my job one February day,
Watching how the sky made everything seem gray.

I felt a little glum and uninspired.
Sunshine and verdant springtime I desired.

A shaft of light appeared from overhead.
It was as if my thoughts were being read!

Mesmerized, I gazed at the brilliant white.
Tinged with gold, it flooded sky with light.

I drove on, but a new thought filled my mind.
My happy spring would not be far behind.

Ars Poetica
A poem is like the ripples in a pond,
As the muted sound.

Like the reflection of the sun on an aluminum foil,
As the muddy soil.

Like a rain drop,
Dry as the desert crop.

Like the myriad colors in a shaft of light,
As the imagination takes flight.

Motionless like the shifting sand,
As a marauding band.

Like the glimpse of a familiar face in a milling crowd,
As the flash of lightning in a foreboding cloud.

It should grab you like a snare
As a shooting flare!...

Shaft of Light- For Contest
Black clouds ever surrounding me
But look, a bright ray of light I see

From where does this light appear
Has it come from far or from near

A million thoughts enter my mind
A sign from above, that I’m behind

Quick explanations though, never pass
Nor do a thousand, I have grown crass

About this shaft of light what can be told
I don’t know now, maybe when I am old

Desire to know, imbedded since our youth
Philosophy teaches there really is no truth
