Through the Window

Slivers of light
make their way
         into my room
You can watch the
      dust in the sunbeams
We're always
         trying to catch
a shaft of light in our hands
Always missing the goal
Breathe deeply
The air is redolent
           with spring
Let's not despair!
     Light keeps filtering
through
Though we can't touch
     or catch it
We surely can take
      delight
In the warmth
       of the sun
As we continue to orbit
     the nearest star

Matthew, I really think capturing a moment like you did and putting your feelings on paper in such a beautiful way is probably my favorite form of poetry! raw, truthful, insightful, with room for imagination unending, as you did so well with the last 2-lines wow! and thanks for your cool comments! Jim

Profoundly insightful, Matthew. We can see the light, "The we can't touch or catch it." Perhaps only being present in God's light should be enough. You give the reader much to think about in each of your verses. Love, Carolyn
