Saturday

SATURDAY
The 10th of April
the sun rose
yawning
shadows stretched
as blinking winds moaned.
Night shifters scurried home
day shifters chirped.
A tired moon napped
in an evergreen.

Nature's Umbrella

There it stood
in its bright
off-white shape;
head held in perfection
by its firmed neck.

A proud mushroom,
signaling the transition
of summer into fall.

Beneath its shade,
little black ants
scurried to and fro.

Hurrying For No Good Reason

The rest of the second graders saw that Millie was done.
At that age being the last to turn a page in is simply no fun.
So, they all scurried and hurried to turn their pages in.
They got plenty of answers wrong too; this was not a win.

Phobia

you always notice black marks on the floor
checking, in case they scurried with evilness
but don’t look at me, no no no, I double-took
earlier and to be honest I’d rather carry the
village church up the stairs wearing flip flops

You Know Me

You know me
You’ve seen me before
But you don’t even know my name

You watched me
I scurried passed your door
No, I have no fame

You heard me
I cried out in the night
Some say it was all in vain

You touched me but you don’t even know my name

Alone And Unseen

He watched them walk by

Many scurried

People from all walks of life

He looked at them and he saw them

Yet no-one looked at him and no-one saw him

Sitting on a bench

His whole life and home beside him in plastic bags

Alone and unseen

After the Flood

After the flood
We tallied the living,
Scurried under the Earth,
And invented new prayers.

There was a hungry need
For sentiments under the sediment.
We pushed like rainbows against the dirt.
Our new songs would take
10, 20, 30 years to bloom
Upward and outward.

Susana's Melody

Susana played a flaunting tune,

That lingered near the haunting moon,

The song was tragic, sad ,and sour,

Which filled her with the darkest power,

And when her song was over and done,

She knew she had the best of fun,

For when her mother scurried in,

There was a floating violin.

A Funny Rhyme For Kids

ruby the ram
met larry the lamb
to frolic in the fields
as they would hop
they came to a stop
because they met some eels
they slithered and scurried
and the two friends hurried
because they didn't want to get shocked
they pounced and ran
screamed as fast as they can
and all of the eels flocked

Eavesdropping

Ear against a crack in the door,
“I’m leaving, I don’t love you anymore”
“Please don’t go, I’ll try my best”
I guess the flame has been repressed.
She scurried, hearing the doorknob turn,
Hoping he’s lying, her stomach churns.
One last look, their eyes lock in place
No goodbyes will be spoken,
No more happy face.

Buzzards Are Circling

Buzzards Are Circling Written: by Tom Wright 5-15-2012 Six buzzards circle so I make great haste Fearing that I have little time to waste I know they search for dead to glean Is today the day to pick my bones clean I peek from the Oak to which I’ve scurried Still circling lower, should I be worried?

Winter - the World Seem To Shiver

Winter - The World Seem To Shiver Winter snow swirled and scurried Making its brisk grand entrance Sending cold chills tingling Lover's warm embrace ~ Flickering warm candle’s flame Scent of smoke and melting wax Shadows dance across the bed Journey Love’s embrace 11/8/2015

Funhouse

i live in a funhouse mirror-
your reality i only see a
sliver of, cornered by a
lacking void. i ache &
break & fake my face to
smile, i want to wash
the body i dirtied. i see
you coming, too quick i
scurried past, drastic
attempt to make the
moment last- but my
vision is covered in smoke
a mired joke, tired &
tangled in time.

Scandalous

.

   There went she
       blue eyes
 sashaying with her
       sassy self
    in her scanty
         sateen
         sheath

      Scandalous
the scandalmongors
         scoffed
           as I

  And off I scurried
 searching for paper
         and pen
to scribe mine script
  of her succulence

         Skoal

    I’d take a sip

Joyful Show

High up in the snow coated trees,
Birds flutter happy under winter skies
Gray and white colors surround the hill
Where the wildlife play regardless of weather
Lively, freely, flying around
Scurried footprints are left on the ground
Imprints in snow from their joyful show

Daddys home

mother spat
theres too much chat
inside playing ball
swinging the bat
childrren scurried
nervously sat
why do you bicker
behave like a brat
your fathers the same
acting the pratt
here he is now
his worn leather hat
home sweet home
says the welcome door mat
wipe off those grins
your wearing so fat
your punishmet stands
i promise you that

We Will Have the Blessing--NOW

Mama’s Thanksgiving plans went awry. Football lovers might understand why. Mama called for the blessing. Everyone was obsessing over touchdowns. Mom uttered a sigh. “Keep the food warm till two,” Daddy said. A huge turkey leg glanced off his head. To the table, all scurried, for they’d grown rather worried Mama might next be hurling the bread.

Squirrels, Three

Playing on the forest floor
I saw squirrels, three.
They scampered amongst the fallen leaves,
Then scurried up a tree.

I watched them in their antics
As they leapt from bough to bough,
Like acrobats on the high trapeze
Performing for a crowd.

Their joie de vivre apparent
It filled my heart with glee,
To see them running tail to tail,
Those little squirrels, three.

The Dog Wore a Rainbow Bandana

The dog wore a rainbow bandana
A feral cat hissed at it
Birds bullied each other at the feeder
A hawk in the shadows
Rats scurried through the alleys
Of both the rich and poor
(garbage is garbage)
Children waited for the school bus
Breakfast waited for them
An old woman collected “recyclable” cans
(a homeless entrepreneur)
I wondered
“do politicians ever look out the window?

Have Ya Ever

Worked a jigsaw puzzle
While listenin' to Queen
And workin' out your algebra
While waitin' sweet sixteen?

Or scurried off to India
Just 'cause the op arose?
Or painted toenails black and blue
With one splashed hot pink rose?

Have ya ever taken life so hard
It makes ya wanna cuss?
If so, my friend, sit down come in
you're down dead one of us.

I Sit Alone

The joy of life that once was mine
Has scurried off upon its way
To seek some wayward place to shine
On someone else’s sunless day.

So, once again I sit alone.
My ragged soul not fit to speak
The sorry sadness which I’ve known
For far too long; it is too weak.

I cry for love which from me flies
To other spheres beyond my sight.
As unheard echoes of my cries
Fall silently into the night.

Lunch Time Hurry

The day was bright as kids scurried all with fright. I was in the front leaping, jumping
then soaring into the air! passing kids as I go by. I run at top speeds faster than a
bullet I appear. I run and jumped into the air looking back at a fallen comrade with dis
pear. I slip threw the gates before i'm caught slipping into the line for lunch with out
any worry for I just avoided the lunch time hurry.

Time Is

Time is the breeze that brushed my cheek.
Time is the water that splashed across my face.
Time is the sound of a piano playing near, but not directly.
Time is the conversation that I walked through, and passed.
Time is the thought that stopped my thinking, then scurried away.
Time is the wish that stopped me completely, for a moment.
Time is the kiss that is now, and eternal, and stopped my time.

No One Offend and Reached His End

his twilight was near
Henry is no longer here
we always did fear

no one did offend
to heaven we had to send
when he reached an end

merry with much mirth
he was merry with much mirth
departed this earth

away soul scurried
when around he had hurried
body we buried

always was well fed
no longer here and is dead
he has gone to bed

what we must admit
no longer in bed does sit
his heart would quit

Nut Meat

Look at all those tiny poo balls
It's a sign that little squeakers
Have scurried about, here and there
On tiny imagined sneakers

But it's been said there is a trick,
Nut meat can soon cause their demise
Just don't push the city limit
With luck, they will say their goodbye's

Whether school house or out house
Just any house you might have seen
With a nut meat city limit
It's sure hard to keep a house clean!
