Rain, Rain Go Away

This year has been lacking in summer sun.
No kids romping on beaches having fun.
Its done nothing but rain,
This weather's a big pain.
Our transition to rain forest's begun.

Stomping Romping Clomping Boots

cowgirl stomping
rodeo romping
pasture clomping
faster chomping
joyful cowgirl boots

embroidered with a flower
wrinkled from a shower
with all kinds of kicking power
cowgirl stomping romping clomping boots

Reindeer

Romping air flying runs
Rule space for Christmas fun.
Rare deer perform roof sails.
Ready female and males
Roam earth on sledding rails.
Rudolph no zero, but
Red nosed and loved hero.

Laughter Recall

Playing in sunshine
is a twirling girl and cat
Meows and laughter
Romping away sweet moments
until the day is drowsing

In tall green grasses
pretty kitty's soon sleeping
in shadows of day
The orange sun's retreating
in meadow of memories

Donkey Of Your Eye

Donkey in the farm, strong hoofs romping
Wonky when you charm, long spoofs hooting

Donkey standing as you stare, shy when you dare
Teeth grinning as you glare, dry when you blare

Sweet and gentle that sire, donkey of your eye
Lifeguard under fire, wise and clean with your lye

Puppy Love

Puppy Love
It’s just puppy love they say, me romping with you all day. Oh well, what’s a little roll in the hay when you’re my toy, boy, and I wanna play.

Angels and Devils

Forgotten angels weep and mutter,
For unfortunate devils romping on earth…
With ragged wings, and tear soaked feathers,
Forgotten angels weep and mutter.
Peering down upon imps, guardian hearts aflutter
--Glass strings break, the heavens are no longer heard.
Forgotten angels weep and mutter,
For unfortunate devils romping on earth…

Spring Sentiment

Come, let's go to the lake!
It's Spring and I am your
dove-in-waiting to take.

The dogs all out romping in
the freshly-contented grass.
I will listen to your Poetry and
give you no sass!

Two poetic souls bound as
newborn ones.
Wrapped in Spring grass and
warmed by the benevolent sun.

Winter For My Dogs

I can feel winters chill,

I see snow falling from my windowsill,

time to go out and play,

my dogs, they love the snow today,

jumping and romping around,

all else is still, there is no sound,

letting out their energy, and making some great memories,

now I do enjoy this season,

cause my Buddy and Duke, they gave me the reason.

Joyful Jumping

Joyful jumping, oh so jolly,
try it in a tram or trolley
Jiggle, juggle, Jane's tamale,
a laugh, a lark, fine, fun folly.

Happy, hopping, silly stomping,
rarified and risky romping,
bouncing Bonnie's butterscotch,
hilarious, howling hoppyscotch.

Lofty leaping, crazy creeping,
mindful mother's mostly sleeping,
but don't bop with Betty's brisket,
she'll conk you, bonk you, no, don't risk it.

Juggle Jams and Jiggle Jello

Hiya, howdy, hey, and hello.
Juggle jams and jiggle jello.
Jumping joyfully, and jolly,
try it in a tram or trolley.

Happy, hopping, silly stomping,
rollicking and rowdy romping,
bouncing, bubbly butterscotch,
hilarious, howling, hot hopscotch.

Lofty leaping, crazy creeping,
slipping, sliding, squawking, squeaking,
Care for cookies, candies, or cakes?
Such silly sounds, for heaven's sakes.

Arctic Heartbreak

ARCTIC HEARTBREAK

                  Romping seas spew fog--
                  Defeat blue skies winter foes--
                  Protection for broken hearts

                  Whenever you leave
North Seas leap -- frigid madness
                  You steal moon’s golden halo

                  My heart is frozen
                  Northern Lights seek to comfort
                  But never thaw my sorrow

K a N S a S

Kissed by the sun, sweet alfalfa in waving oceans that
Animals adore when dried into golden hay.
Noon breaks enjoying lunch under an ancient oak with
Songs from the wayward wind for company.
A tire swing hanging in wait for school to be out
Shares mem’ries of new born calves romping in the meadows.

Each wonderful season in Kansas holds an enchanted delight,
But heavenly scented lilacs in spring time let my soul take flight.

Wired

The lights went out; the power died.
We had to call Con Ed.
Three hours later, it was fixed
And this is what they said:

A squirrel on a wire outside
Decided he would chew it.
He took one bite and that was all
It took for him to do it.

The loss was 20 houses wide,
All due to foolish chomping.
That squirrel should have stuck to
Just his daily feats of romping.

Instead, our power up and died
And all because a squirrel fried.

Concrete

You tell me your leaving

Impersonal over the phone

Couldn't you at least write me a Poem

Spelling out why

Or was I just small fry

You overcooked

Because you weren't paying attention

Romping up the temperature

Drained on old newspaper

Yesterday's news in small print

You never really cared about

Hanging on your arm whilst you looked out

For something better to come along

And sweep you off your feet

Rats

Rats! Rats! Rats!
Romping, frolicing, ruckussy rats!
Cuddly, bubbly, lovably rats!
Pestering, menacing, troublesome rats!
Rats! Rats! Rats!

Getting in your hair
Crawling through open holes
Bouncing ‘round from chair to chair
Licking leftover food out of bowls

Tickling, bothersome
Pickling, lothersome
Just plain nuisancy
RATS!

*I wrote this poem at the age of 12 and I want to share it here in honor of World Rat Day (April 4)

Kitty Elf

kitty elf can't you see those presents were meant for me,
you opened up my barbie, and lost one of her shoes.
naughty kitty elf, those twinkling lights were not for you,
but to light up all I do.
kitty elf I have had enough of your joyous romping on my christmas stuff,
so next year my little friend you will find a special package just for you
a kitty cage to keep my tree safe from your christmas joy,
and next my toys you will not enjoy.

Summer Loves

Lazing in a hammock swing,
dreaming of what summers bring.

Romping in the swimming hole;
pleasant moments I have stole.

Dabbling in a happy brook;
fish and frogs in every nook.

Watching rabbits on the lawn,
happ'ly playing in the dawn.

Romping in the swimming hole;
pleasant moments I have stole.

Flowers wafting in the breeze,
while their pollen makes me sneeze.

Hatchlings in a lofty nest;
parents out on their food quest.

Legacy!

Some things are hereditary.
Not necessarily from parents or grandparents,
You can inherit them from elements.

Look at the Earth!
So shy and recluse and introvert
For the last few months of Fall and Winter
Is now romping on the ramp
In exotic costumes
Walking asymptotically
Assured of her grace
Wafting onlookers to the bourns of ecstasy!

On her trail
Even heavens grow goosebumps
For having watched her
Without batting an eyelid!

Words and Writing

Where would I be without my dictionary?
Open it up to
Read and then try to remember
Discoveries made to use in my next
Sentence.

Aaah, easier said than done!
Nevertheless, I persist ...
dictionaryitis (not an entry) having struck

without warning!!
Romping (smile)
Into
The Z's
Is an experience
Not needing to often be repeated or,
Gaining much more than a Yawn (from the preceding letter)
when zzzzzzz's (as in nap time) are in store for me now !!

Shake From a Quake

A little pre-dawn shaking was going on around LA. Early morning risers got a jolt on St. Patrick’s Day. This quake went the same way so many had gone before. Today, it measured on the Richter scale at 4.4. Nobody was hurt, and no damage had been done. However, experiencing an earthquake is scary and not fun. Was it the spirit of St. Patrick romping along the heather? No, it was just two tectonic plates rubbing together. From a news story found on aol.com
