Urbanity

You cannot hold Winter
Children weep for acorns
and their plummets of blackcurrants
They have lost their Midas Touch
Urban foraging is bygone pride

The Shooting Star

The meteoroid
Circumvents the void
'Til captured by the atmosphere
It then plummets toward the Earth
With glowing core
As a meteor
But after a dazzling fiery flight
On impact
is a meteorite

Winter's Friday Afternoon

Winter's Friday afternoon
The Sabbath comes in so soon
The sun, if there be one
  fairly plummets down
    Already's appeared the moon
    ~ humming a Sabbath tune

reaping

alabaster clouds
morph into ashen grey smoke
acid rain plummets
a grieving heart breaks in two
drowning within its own flood

angel of deaths scythe
shows not an ounce of mercy
reaps a twin flames love

Time and Money

"What is the time?"

The blue coloured sleeve
Plummets to the elbow,
And the precious metal strips
Aiming for numerical notes
Catching in his
Reddened eyes,
Swollen to perplexity
Registers;

"Sorry. I've lost track of it."

Kingfisher's Pick

silver fishes just 'neath the lake's surface,

          glisten like tails of watery comets;

oh, but one of them shall so soon perish

as, noiseless, a blue kingfisher plummets!

The Rain

Hear the soft pitter patter dancing off the roof?
A cleansing rain plummets the drain, offering
up its truth..
It sloshes streets and people's feet as it
clears the atmosphere.
Umbrellas swoosh, windshield wipers whoosh,
and life is slower here..

Sultry Sweetness

Sultry sweetness
Caught on a paper cloud
As a wet surface
Oozes with harmonious reflection
And while that letter
Speaking of daring devotion
And intrepid infatuation
Plummets to the saturated soil
The words slip off the paper
Like tears from her cheek

Snake For Lunch

from the sky plummets

a feathery blur with razor talons

            and cruel, crooked beak..

                  slays a serpentine shadow

in the grass, then flies off to feed

                              eaglets nestled at the peak.

I Am An Empty Shell

I am an empty shell
Hold me to your ear
Can you hear the soothing sound of waves lapping on a deserted, tropical beach?

NO!!

All that you can hear is a cry for help, as my soul plummets, screaming towards the black abyss
Say a prayer for this one, and all the empty shells in the world

It Lifts, Defies Gravity

It Lifts, Defies Gravity

That great curving line
made of countless droplets
in shades of aquamarine
to showers of foaming white

it creates an opening
a cave where light can spin
then plummets down again
its passion has been spent

rolling gently to the shore
tumbling sand and shells
small remnant lives
then going back for more.

Scene From National Geographic

a mouse frolics in the sunny meadow,
'neath the grass slithers a snaky shadow.

a short smothered squeak, a muffled stuggling,
flowers flirt with the breeze with nary an inkling.

a feathery blur plummets from the sky
with razor-sharp talons and a cruel cry,

rips the serpent with its cold, crooked beak,
then flies off to feed its young nestled at the peak !

when

free verse
all repetition is intentional

"when"

when life seems darkening
when stumbles knock on doors
let the butterflies surround

when humpty dumpty plummets
when chaos shadows sun and moon
let their illumination through

when rain overflows
when cold remains
inside panes will blanket

remember to breathe
when faced with it all

Her Wave

.

   How strikingly gray
    as the Spring rain
         plummets
      to the ground

        The green
        and brown
          all wet
             yet
  no glittering from
    the Sun's wink

         I walk
    not skip today
     and the train
  slowly slips away

        so drifts
       her wave

Earth's Thirst

Thor's hammer-strike sheds bolts of jagged sparks; as misty clouds weep, and howling winds wail. With thunderous booms the seared air fragments; skewing the night skies with forks of lightning. The heavens open; and an outpouring of torrential rain, plummets to the ground. Despite Nature's rage and ferocity; amidst the fury, the Earth's thirst gets quenched.

Playing a Masterpiece of False Reality

Keys hit softly
Keys hit sadly
Yet it’s perfectly beautiful,
In every way.
It speaks of oppression
It speaks of war
Yet it’s still beautiful
 In every way.
It paints stunning images of death
It paints stunning images of violence
And still it is beautiful in every way
Until…………
Until realities key is hit just perfectly.
And everything that was once beautiful,
Plummets into woe.

Quicksand

Sometimes life can seem like quicksand.
Without the band.
It is a journey unplanned.
Uncharted the road

Struggling without direction.
Loses all protection.
It plummets one in deep reflection.
Down to the bottom.

From decades ago a hand reaches out.
Help is there no doubt.
Hope inspires your joy to shout.
Love rescues!

my anxiety

I bid keeping my mind off the known calamity
A similar item year ago almost took my soul from me
It was only chump change, it didn't really matter
Pushing away the notions of the hearts that it would shatter
Another bidder and my confidence plummets
When suddenly last call blares out like trumpets
My demise in the form of a contract
Is swore and sealed by a pen that retracts

Saying Good-Bye

My heart plummets as torrents of rain
Beat against my foggy window
Pummeling the glass as I
Stare at the phone

You said you'd call and now it's been
Days since you said good-bye
Leaving me to pine away
The long hard hours

Is your imprint on somebody's sheets
Your sights on someone new?
You're breaking my heart
Just don't do it

I gaze at the walls as they close in
With each hour you disappear
From my heart and soul
Farewell my love

The Wet Drive Home

I exit the dragon's mouth,
still puffing smoke
after all these
purifying years;
round the corners
square as possible,
narrowly avoiding edges
where the earth
falls abruptly away
and the sea plummets
to terminal depth-
Sure, Columbus made it!
But in this new world
of terror, politically defined,
One must pause
(rethink the wet drive home)
wisely avoiding
the siren call
of neon signs-
slippery, paste voices
of abundance
and firm footing.

"stormy Evening"

Thunder roars and lightning blazes across the sky
And it illuminates the eye of a man as he holds his wife’s hand
The rain plummets to earth and pummels a rooftop
Of a family home as the children laugh and play
The sky darkens a deep black and gray
While a couple lights candles for a romantic evening
And as the wild winds whirl faster
The end of the storm is near
As it goes more joy will come
As each walks outside to a starlight sky
And a peaceful moon rising high

Death Darts

when wind blows a gale
leaves pushed pulled tempest tossed
I see life fleetingly aloft and
gone in gasp and gust

when clocks chime and chip away at time
inevitable and intangibly present
it’s the fool’s errand to be angry at an hour

when cars zip like bullets
when plugs crackle into life
when scissors snap too close to skin
when fragile chick plummets from nest

death darts ahead of life
a promiscuous predator circling

circling even as you say you’re leaving
