Coleridge a poet of renown
his name circulated London town
Also a bit of a critic
success if he gave your verse a tick
Religious writer Kirkegaard
making a living was just too hard
so decided to philosophise
with a learned Christian treatise
William Soutar came from Perth
a cinquainist & poet of mirth
Since the 'net ' came on line
his Scottish verse has done just fine
William Wordsworth of Lake District fame
famous in our 'poetic game'
Everyone knows of his 'daffodils'
often his rhyme still thrills
Elizabeth Gaskell an English novelist
gave Victorian society a 'twist'
Writing compassionate with skill
industrial heartlands gave her a thrill
We cuddled there in days of old,
but now our bench is alone and cold.
For Andrea’s Frozen in Crystaline contest, inspired by Picture Number Two
My boyfriend is
smoking hot.
I kid you not.
Under that hood
I understood
lay my destiny.
In the dark I
felt the spark
as we passed.
Love to last.

Tempter shrouds his cold flame
hovers dwelling in pleasure,
with no remorse
to lay a kiss
on the sleeping soul at their weakest
as they lodge in fear.

His world
hangs on a wall.
His wheeled chair
sits in a corner.
His tillered escape –
the Barque,
Astral Traveler.

Three bros., Wideye, Snaggletooth, and Zonkers
When in town went a little bit bonkers
With the girls that walked by
What was level with their eye
Was ogled, whistled at, or they'd honk-hers!
Glassy lamp flickers
to expose her quiet vulnerability,
while fingers thumb pages
of his delayed letters---
Hiding in tenebrous light
she quavers relentlessly,
knowing it’s time for goodbye
come morning.
A night walker you’re lost in the dark
In life forlorn unseen dangers lurk
I’ll show the way, destination bright
For you I glow, your ornate road light.

It’s not hooded evenings
Which leaves me desperate
But the alienation from self-esteem -
And no one can trace such loathing
For veil of blindness rips induced apathy.

In the dead of this cold foggy night,
is this the spirit of Jack the Ripper
or the Boston Strangler prowling
the silent streets...
or someone’s imagination running wild?

Smok’n hot in his black suit,
a cool dude - he’s not.
Sickle swings shattering glass -
silencing bitter sand.
Your ignominious ghost
broods your grim image,
under the reaper’s hood.

Grimly he comes.
Day after day,
hour upon hour
second by second -
for centuries
into eternity.
The face
beneath his dark hood
he will reveal
when he comes
for you.

I have crossed oceans
Tasted salt of discoveries;
Allowing strangers
To become families.
Now I am older, yet new allies
Beyond map's horizon
Still rouses thirst
For unknown destiny.

PALMER EKPHRASIS
the Shoreham
garden
scent
of
blossom fills
a white
blaze of spring
in
a profusion of clouds
an extravaganza
of stylised
enigma

The Night Lamp
As night stumbles in
The lamp crinkles on
And the evening rides
The light -
Which upon
The lamp’s tenderness
And glory encapsulates
Its harmony within…
It escapes the night

like diamante globules flickering,
glimpses reflect various moods
as irises brighten crystalline night
I become delirious in her glow
where aura of lantern- eyes.
dim street poles in shame.

An Enchanted Lamp-post
Neither the serenade of crickets
nor the waltz of moths
could appease her enough.
Secluded in a glass castle
her glowing beauty flickers,
unaware of the blazing beast
trapped within.

That tiki bar on Waikiki that spun so slowly round
To view The Market Place across the street and then towards the Clouds
Next Queen’s Surf and then the sea and sand Thru stacks of boards
To the luau tables at The Sands and the Kaiser pink hotel
Sipping slowly feeling good lonely everso
reminiscing palmswept winds
of too damned long ago

Inhale
the last you will
of this planet’s wholesome gift
blowing out grey cells
and bits of a life
..distance..
until a stranger
with two
puffed eyes
and clouded vision
----------------------------------------
On the ill-effects of smoking
Shrouded in darkness
He walks steadily
Down the cobbled street
Ephemeral breath
D r i f t i n g
Into the cold foggy air
His footsteps echoing...
A mysterious stranger
Heading for a rendezvous
With death.

I've traversed this wondrous world
Captured through the windows of bird's eyes,
Enclosed within a body with silver wings,
So blessed I've been to fly the friendly skies.
