recall memories
     that never cease in spirit-

A Broken Keepsake
ebony chalk sketched her soft silhouette,
       old keepsakes reveal heartache-
                        a broken easel mourns...

Introspected Abcs
a burdened charity dost entail
faux generosity habitually inhaled

jaunts, keepsakes left macerated
nothing omitted, personally quantitated

reason sifted through ubiquitously
vehement will yearned zealously...

Abstract
Paintings in blue
Hanging on newsroom den,
All captured
memories from the past
Rendered on velvet.
Abstract visions-
Treasures, these keepsakes from Grandma;
Dearly loved recollections.

Listen to poem:
The warm patina of old age is cherished
revered, conserved, protected as irreplaceable.
Unlike the wrinkles and scars
that deface waned youth expired.
Only time and good care
coats much-loved keepsakes
with protective patina -
the glaze and sheen of esteemed age....

Keepsakes From Mom
Keepsakes From Mom

You left me your Butterfly pins, your coin collection too,
Albums’ full of photographs, and several pairs of shoes,
Grandma’s Bible and Opera Glasses, also still have a place,
These keepsakes have memories, that can never be erased.

Kilometres ‘tween us...
Keepsakes serve to sustain
Kudos for your restrain
Knock at my door excites
Kindled passion ignites
Keeping lips pressed to mine
Keen, hungry, tongues entwine

Life's Ups and Downs
A hand to hold,
A lover to adore,
A friend to cherish,
There's nothing more.

A love that hurts,
A heart that aches,
A soul that's lost,
Unwanted keepsakes.

A burning passion,
A heartfelt desire,
A lifetime of love,
Full of fire.

A child to protect,
A precious gift,
A life to treasure,
Spirits lift....

The t.v. series,
A Little Princess,
reminds me
of my dad's gift
of a dark-haired
porcelain doll...

...I gave away
to compensate
for feeling spoiled
--that I begged
for her at all

Being a generous
gift-giver was one
of my dad's
main languages
of love

I hope even though
I've hardly kept
any of his gifts
he still cares--
up above...

Corners In the Attic
a wishbucket painting of a midwest
  sky in the evening.

an old rusty singlespeed scwinn bicycle.

 folded mothball memories stacked
  in cardboard.

and you can pass down three generations
  in an A-framed wonderment.

lost to all but not to dust, where spiders play
 keeper of all still keepsakes.

 thier hollow formed webs catch
  dreams in the night....

Keepsakes
In an old biscuit tin
With my bits and pieces put in
That remind me of our times
And things that are always mine

I take them out sometimes
For reminding me of a memory fine
Each piece wiped bright again
Before placed carefully back in

I only bring them out when I’m alone
So my tears are not to you shown
Their touch closes my eyes
Bringing you out in my memory alive.

Just For Looking At
A black powder 1868 colt revolver.
Dad’s rusty Buck knife.
A few old Zippo lighters.
Ivory figurines haggled over
with an illicit trader in Shanghai,
same for a two hundred year old
silk rug never trod upon.
A tin box with a broken clasp
containing some things
I cannot now speak of.
A few other keepsakes
that when I look at them
remind me of how I got here,
and how I sometimes
lost my place....

While Youre Away
Soft as the wind,
his touch I feel,
when he's away, still so real.
Like a song I should sing,
unburden my heart,
keepsakes my baby,
never too far.
A rose, it shall whisper,
his words,
lullaby,
keep talking, I hear it,
so soft and so shy.
The breath of my love,
I take in so deep,
a soul that is tender,
and never to keep.
Embracing a memory,
before it should fade,
be real my baby,
just for today....

at random on the canvas
mingle with improvised
calligraphic doodles.
Spontaneous accidental drips,
by drop,across the floor,to and

soak-stained by a sponge.
Hanging vertical in the hall,a
happening of paraphernalia,
keepsakes from memory's
drawer.Experiences of the moment,
expressed,forever frozen in time

Fifth Grade
One thing remains from those cherished times.
Memories and keepsakes from my childish crimes.

I will never forget the sweetest girl.
She was my friend, my love, my world.

How funny it was to play and run
Through the water in the midsummer sun.

She was taken in a violent event.
A shotgun now rings in torment.

That is all I have to say
Any more and I will fade

I will remember more of her living
Instead of her death and time forgiving....
