This winter morning
Herons come to the swamp land
Seeking living food
Suddenly black cloud sheds rain
Winter coldness hugs born pain

A Pond’s Melody
dragonflies buzzing
spring peepers chirping for mates
splashing fish jumping for meals
blue herons squawking
bilious bullfrogs croaking
quacking mallards leading young

Under a blue moon,
a cuckoo
gives an agonizing call.
*
Clouds will wait.
Till a caravan
of herons will sail.
*
The rains have
washed away all the malice,
all the soot.

Sea caps, white, shadows
Fin, cutting above surface
White caps part, Great White
Herons calling out
Congregating over cove
A gaggle of clouds
Eagle soars above
Snowshoe hare, new tracks, no hare
Disguise of whiteness

Majestic river tumbles down
gleaming glorious in dawn's rise.
Herons surface glossed in onyx
sprayed by cascades of polished jade,
and I curl boughs in pleats canopied wild
on bank of prayers rolling to meet sea.

Sun gazing throughout
the sensual faint hues
dazzling off the lake
the holy spirit appears
in my midst while
giant Egrets land
on cool waters
as thousands of
white herons perch
nestled so completely
calming my gentle soul
while I rest overlooking
America

willow trees frolic
waltzing in summer music--
concert of hatchlings
stretching necks and bills
scanning rivers, spreading wings--
blue herons catch fish

My Old Flame
Would that I would fly
To ocean’s side
And catch the twinkling caps,
Where the moon touches
The boundary ridges
And I could but dream of you.
“Over there” you sailed
Where herons fly
Oh, so long ago.
I missed you so – I did not know
That you would be truly gone.

Thick viscous liquid on top
as the herons hover round,
looking for a way to grab
their underneath preys.
entrapped preys struggle for air,
fisher men confused and stunned,
Movement of tourists hindered,
water can`t be drunk.

tied against the mountain
the blue children play
the upturned apples' cart
scent filled the air
The Wild herons flew southwards
as the crucible sun hit the apex
Crimson skies laced against
the white aconite churchyards
We left, denouncing the first hymn
we heard
surely someone has desecrated the night sky

Here
Rainy season
Time spins itself
You are coming now
In this white morning lap
Herons fly over the blue sky
As if love story starts its journey
Let's go we make our love full season
Let the drizzling and breeze come bit by bit
Love will be divine if we go on friendship street

Ungainly, slow, he took his time
Slowly flapping languid wings,
The Heron now began to climb
'Twas though it was his final fling,
He seemed to give it everything.
Yet as the Heron began to soar
It changed from toil to avian grace,
No heaving struggle any more
Elegant flight took it's place,
Life, played at a Herons pace.

Quintain (English)
As he spreads his wings
The wind flutters the feathers
Against a heron-dotted sky
Of deepest dark
A strong wind to fly
As granite boulders blackly rumble
Deepest voice as raindrops tumble
Down towards
The heron’s crown
The fields ablaze
With electric haze
And an ozone stench spices
As volts and death splices
The scene into a triptych

The sunsets large on the yonder horizon
Herons fly across the illuminated orange sky
Another day has come to pass and time like the herons fly
On a journey into the unknown
To a destination that is far away
But something is for sure
That as we see that every day will end
In full luminescent glory
So another day will sure enough begin
With a promise of a new story.

...each a reflection of a world remade
laid by a river's flight.
Time's is a swimmer on this water road.
By a rickety dock herons fish for rainbows
riding on silvery trout.
Here on a meadow bank
dewy droplets
bracelet wet stems.
An iridescence
beads a newborn morn
My dog sniffs the prismatic air,
the fresh fledged green;
sweeps her bushy tail
scattering
a sparkling fringe of sky.

A heron shoots a glassy eye
keeps fishing by doing nothing.
Oars slap water.
An early sun crashes through the mist
intent on warming eggs in lakeside nests.
Slap go the oars, a clunky-swoosh,
a white wake burbling.
If I row very slowly
it will be a few minutes before breakfast.
You will be dishing a trout onto a buttery plate.
Elsewhere, a silver fish
swims down a blue herons throat
slip slapping all the way.

through the ether
she appeared
A Goddess
attended by herons
the softest light pours
from her eyes
flamed by the embers
of her heart
loving without knowing
caring without seeing
a voice for those
without freedom,
the answering cry
from the dark,
nobody else hears
cresting Great Rivers,
Buck-eyed Demigods
genuflect at her feet
she is worshiped
this Brilliant Goddess
and today
is her Birthday

Preposterous bird!
Inelegant! Absurd!
Until the great & mighty heron
brandishes his fearsome sword.

Couplet
how bright the dew
in the sunlight
each drop
a picture of a world remade
down by the dock herons watch
rainbows riding over silver fish
time shows-up as a water road
journeying to just here
this place where dawn dew
mirrors a million first lights
gleaming out
of a million suns
my dog sniffs at the prismatic air
the light
the new fledged green
she sweeps her furry tail
back and forth
scattering a bespangled sky
behind her

when my river ran into your waterfall
startled egrets and alarmed herons
reached for the sky
the claws of surprised osprey let go
of wriggling fish
for a long moment
florida became a frozen lake
you could see the stunned faces
of stopped clocks
trapped beneath the ice
when we plunged
into each other unheeding
of time and place
plastic flamingos
and pink barbie dolls
flew away
in the wide open eyes
of passing snowbirds

Rhyme
the full moon dangles low tonight
and whispers sweetly in my ear
memories of fiery delight
the full moon dangles low tonight
graceful herons glide in full flight
I’d trade them all to hold you near
the full moon dangles low tonight
and whispers sweetly in my ear

Triolet
Upon these placid waters the wind blows fair,
bream chase waves tossed by boats here, and there,
Crimson vessels slice through crest,
giving channel cats time to rest,
Blue herons walk along picking through perch nest,
murmuring bull frogs make their best rain calls,
Some white owl makes nightly squalls,
using nothing more than stars to light his way,
Mystical mighty cypress trees sway big, and tall,
they too seem to have something to say to all...
