Untitled #323 / "why Did You Stop Shaving?", Pt. Ii

“Why did you stop shaving, Jesse?”
It is my attempt to project a façade
of masculinity in the face of rejection
by the opposite sex

Four Seasons In My Soul

Look beyond this thick façade,
You'll find four seasons in my soul,
But take away a piece of Winter
And you'll leave me cut, unwhole.

Mask

That which is us,
Is not truly us,
It is just a façade,
A charade for the public,
A mask until our true selves,
Are revealed and we are free.

A Real Facade

I flouted my knowledge ostentatiously,
But I found no one cared what I came to be.
It’s not the façade they wanted to see,
They just wanted to see; the real me.

Facade

The
Façade
That you see
Is not at all
What you think it is.
I have become expert
In hiding my true feelings
So that the turmoil in my heart
And in my head does not show at all
In the neutral expression on my face.

It's Hard To Hate Someone You Love

Be on your own, no charade
False protection in façade

Your lies are smart, the way you move
Many follow this belief in you

Places you go, once imagined
Reality hurts in the depth and fathom

It’s hard to hate someone you love

A Facade

I saw a façade
And knew it was never God
To treat me that way

Talents have mastered
In a form that was bastard
Had been a hazard

Form was bastardized
When is when I realized
Was Trumpatized (Traumatized.)

Metamorphosis

Discernment shock breaks the mirror
shattered elusive façade flung in debris
deluding mask creates chameleon entity
an obsessive act of metamorphic alchemy.

A Smile On My Face

A smile on my face
But tears held back
Inside of me
Sadness attacks.

A happy façade
But unhappy sigh
Everyone says
Big girls don’t cry

So I put on my smile
And hold in the tears
That’s how it’s been
Throughout all the years

The Facade

Im not one
to die for
but to die
10,000 times

You don’t know me
I don’t know myself
Maybe one day we will

Will know

Theres nothing to know
Theres more to me
than myself
Theres more to you
than you

Behind this façade
We are

Poisoned Mind, the Backwards Poem

Doubt
From her
Poisoned
Everything
Death set in
Men of tears the
Blamelessly leave
Loss of souls praying
Kings of Feelings trapped
The cleverly
Changing façade,
Die to self,
One forcing
Love her
Clasped
Guise

Love

Love
That mummified enigma
Bearing bones and thorns
To all who would taste of its blood

Love
That hideous façade
Which appeals to men
But at its tail dwells tears

Love
Is a biased inferno
Which leaves unsinged a few
And most burnt.

My Mind

Do you claim I’m dumb
Crazy and stupid
I have marveled this
With skeptical eyes
I see through façade

Dumb is not me
I have smarts true
Can see over
And beyond you

Proof in need
I can show
My good grades

My heart
Mind true

Smart

Crafty Lawyer

Downtown there once was a crafty lawyer
Egged his clients to be straight-faced liar
Facing the judge they fumbled
Grilled, façade of lies crumbled
He lost all cases, made money each year.

Words Echo From the Top

They turned their lives into a façade
To keep fooling those on the outside
Sadly, choosing to live such a lie
As if this would erase everything
The mountain still sits for all to see
Who open their eyes and choose to hear
The words, as they echo from the top

Who Is That

She walked into the family reunion with pink and purple hair.
And enough green eye liner to challenge the fur on a boar.
Who is that with fake eyelashes? Someone asked me.
I turned and recognized her under the spider façade.
She is my granddaughter, I told them. Wondering who they were.

Eyewitness Passersby

Listen to poem:
Eyewitness Passersby
David J Walker

Remembering the publicness
of this space
I am a guest
	I am a ghost
And will leave without touching
The façade that appears as my image

What will the eyewitness say
	How will the witness portray
What was meant to be

Tribute

Impersonal
Superficial
A tribute to a man
I hardly knew
An impractical joker
An inclement clown
Overly cautious
To never reveal
Anything of himself
Hiding under the façade
Of inappropriate humor
An awkward conundrum
A mystery man

My Persona

My Persona

Today I built myself a Persona,
My Identity has become a façade,
I thought it was time I had one,
Concealment shouldn’t be too hard.

It’s a kind of portico, facia or frontage,
A cover-up or clever disguise.
Smoke screened by veneered pretence,
You won’t see what’s in front of your eyes.

Dancing Alone In Purple

Invisible hands held in mine.
Gently embracing as we dance in time.

Appearances deceiving as I dance alone.
My partner's identity to others unknown.

Amongst those dancing two by two.
I dance in a façade of purple solitude.

As I dance, I'm not alone.
I dance with an angel, I don't dance alone.

Life Malleable

Arc light blazed
circus arena
clown turns
tiger tamer
timidity painted
bold façade
and now for something
completely different
in a new show
a black sheep
on the trapeze
courage convoluted
life malleable.
