Look beyond this thick façade, You'll find four seasons in my soul, But take away a piece of Winter And you'll leave me cut, unwhole.

Oh, this is as deep as it is beautiful, John. I read this as the four seasons of one's life. We are the sum of all our parts, err, seasons; all its loves, its non-loves, joys, heartaches, being young, middle-aged, being old; our seasons do season our souls' appreciation, and each and every one is necessary in the circle of a grateful life.. if, we are fortunate enough to complete the circle. Congratulations for your wonderful win, my friend. A truly thought-provoking piece. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

So true John every season has its beauty and to leave one out would not be a holistic explanation of a complete year. Good luck in the contest my friend, a wonderful write, Kudos! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Love this... I guess Winter is my least favored season but you have given me a hope of some inspiration there. God bless you always and wishing you a win

Me too, Gina. The original context is how we need the rain, snow, and darkness of winter to fully appreciate the warmth, light, and life throughout the rest of the year. Thank you for paying me another lovely visit, my dear friend! Grace and peace ~ John

Interesting that you grew up in San Diego, but you have a fondness for snow, it seems - I think it's very pretty to look at, not so much to be in it! Best wishes for the contest~

Maybe that's why I've developed a fondness for it... absence makes the heart grow fonder. I've had maybe a dozen snow experiences in my life, so I've definitely idealized it.
