Sunset

sun loses it's crispness
yellow fades to orange
to misty haze
slowly falling victim to the night
losing it's color completely
moon rises and replenishes darkness

Autumn's Morning

morning sky pink/red
golden crispness misty pastures
cows in corn fields
around small pond

October's crops
coming in
corn stalks
golden brown
six feet tall
losing life

Untitled #243 / Agh! the Shadows!

Agh! The shadows!
The crispness of the air!
The icy water lapping against my ankles!
The brightness of the full, full moon!
I see it all too clearly!
I must drown my senses in sleep
before their flames consume my sanity!

Cotton Silk Satin

With durable softness
I grace sheets and cushions;
I have a most beautiful feel.

With colorful crispness,
I sheathe fashionistas;
I'm cotton silk satin - all real!

Strings

Almost too disgusting to look at
Bleehh they're so nasty!
Change is soon to come
Delight rushing through my veins
Excitement for the sound still unknown
Feeling the crispness of the new metal
Getting the cords and pedal ready..
Here goes nothing

Mark the Bird

the last time
I believed in magic
was in the fall

the leaves turned
childhood fading
crispness in the wind

gasps
age ascending
the never or ever
if you're younger
take notes

build on earth
not sand
the boy becomes the father
the son becomes a man

The Blanket

A light blanket of clouds covers
the sun, and fog drapes the trees
Crispness fills the still September air
rendering a sense of ease

An illuminating sun peeks through
Sleepy eyes lift the blanket
Autumn's touch is welcome here
Ripe pears nature's banquet

Retort To Time

The crispness of your knife goes snick!
Cutting up my dreams like celery,
To make hors d’oeuvres that you, Time, pick
And gobble till you’ve swallowed me.

But while you cut, your blade will knick
Hard upon my iron bone;
It trims me to the very quick—
But still, my skull will dull its hone.

Change of Season

Hot Summer days give way as Autumn nears to paint new landscapes in russet and ochre. There's a crispness in the air, whispering to us, "make ready for raking leaves and wearing sweaters." A time to be thankful we have seasons. 7/25/2016 Ethree Contest-Kim Merryman

Shatter the Shell and Raise the Swell

shatter the shell and raise the swell
the crispness and swiftness of a southeaster fell
battered blue lips craving summers breast
the raspberry round,the milk,the nest

an inner thigh by which to sigh
the ears for tongues in which to lie
beneath,between,we two are spun
the speedqueen and the coin
together
one.

Night

dark of night
thats when i'm most alive
the cool crispness of the air
wraps around me flipping my hair
but though the night if beautifull
i feel so alone
standing here looking up
at the clouds and the brightly lit moon
i wonder why and so many other things
cross over my mind but yet
the sun starts to rise
so ends the beautifull night

Autumn's Advent

The days of dying summer heat give way to Autumn’s chill.
The crispness in the air is sweet; the moon too full, must spill.
The refulgent Harvest moon marks shorter days, longer nights
Ending the growing season before harsh, hard winter bites.

Crispness of Autumn

Rough footsteps sifting through the crisp, torte leave's,
a grey matter of cloud's over head,
the crisp, crunch of the fresh fallen leave's,
it stills my beating heart,
that noise,
that simple sound,
I aghast.

The array of colors,
falling at their masses,
I want to skip, to run,
and hear the vital sounds beneath,
a laugh, a smile, a grin,
of what might have and could of been.

First Day of Fall

I have earrings shaped like acorns
And I poked them through my ears
As a welcome to this season
And my joy when it appears.

Though the leaves have yet to burnish
I await those golden hues,
For to live without those ochres
Is an option I’d refuse.

There’s a nip there in the morning;
Time to drag the sweaters out
For the crispness and the colors
Are what autumn’s all about.

Familiarity

Familiarity
Familiar as an old book, but priceless. Worn and frayed like, an ancient tome. Pages bent and torn, heavily perused. Annotated musings scribbled bring back memories. The shininess, sexiness, luster, crispness of new pages, new cover long gone. Marriage is like that old book. Now used, worn and tattered, but warmer, deeper, richer.

Thoughts

The crispness, the sharpness, the quality that creation has is an unlimited wonder.
Nature, it looks to me that it will last for eternity.
Nature is endlessly creative. What could be more clear?
What forms the light? What forms the matter? What forms the organisms? Isn't it the entire universe, having a formative influence?
Oh, by the road--creation grace.
Nature stands and rests so true. Do so too.

September Comes

Sultry days begin to fade
Evening breezes serenade
Proving summers overstayed
Trees turn to brown ‘n red
Ever changing for what’s ahead
Making way for cooler days
Bringing fall flowers ablaze
Everything fresh as if to prepare
Revealing a crispness in the air

Changing as if on cue it comes
Over run with colored mums
Mother Nature brings it all
Every season follows her call
She brings to us our favorite, fall.

Allowed One More Morning On the Porch

The air has calmed and clouds amassed
Vultures don't soar there's no storm
Crows caw near my door join rooster's chorus
Trees slowly undress show their form

The crispness in the air lends calm
Sun rises clear pale yellow_bold
Empty feeling presses upon being
Is it from season's change to cold

Somewhat eerie windchimes stark still
Like a lull before the main storm
An ominous feeling of abode
Or suddenly seeing strange form

To All the Mornings of the World -Quantum Mutata

I have never felt so warm
As in the months of winter. There is
Something more substantial in the crispness
Of the air and the dryness
Of the trees, something that provokes
My deepest sympathy. As children
We walked through the streets after dark
Watching the drunkards sweep
The sidewalks with their sleeves.
We were not afraid of darkness
Or of shadow,
But only
The silence of our sleep
And the awkwardness of dreams.

Spring Has Sprung

Fragrant blossoms imbue
in a distillation of technicolor vision
across the dampened meadow,
awakening it from a winter repose.

Dew-tipped grass lightly bends
as a chilled breath swirls in the air.
Verdant landscape hues cover
faraway shadowed rolling hilltops.

A crispness in the surrounding signals
an embraced dusting of vapors,
following a light cloudburst above:
A sprinkling refresh for growth.

Spring has sprung.

Inner Beauty

The youthful beauty of an unlined face
Is like the crispness of an unturned page,
Unsullied by the use that lies ahead.
A book to show its worth must have been read.
That glowing youthful beauty so alive
Needs sustenance of virtue to survive.
The trials of life will leave a bitter trail
Where paucity of goodness does prevail.
Lovely the face where beauty dwells within,
Nor time, nor fate, can ere its radiance dim.

Twilight of Nature

Wintertime plays havoc on scenic tours.
Crispness of new fallen snow looks sly.
Chilly air wisps about, taking away yours.

Wooded fare quakes death around the by.
Branches stare outward into our universe.
Backdrop breaking others reaching the sky,

Waiting to bloom, escaping nature’s hearse,
Wanting not to fade into earth’s formation,
Winter the slow refrain, from natures verse.

Spirit stands weak, before new implementation.

Hello September

Listen to poem:
fresh autumn crispness
fills my lungs in early morn
as thoughts of you
swirl in my head
vagrant stray musings
weigh heavy on my heart

we’re not the youths
we used to be
back when no strings
meant no consequences

yet at the same time
so very little matters
in the grand scheme of things
except in matters of the heart
