in the sunshine
a blackberry blossoms
winter's summer pudding

blackberries
above the nettles-
just out of reach

Feast

Blackberries ripen
Fat field mice feast upon them
Leaner times ahead

Blackberry Haiku

The blackberry bush
Staining my fingertips, a
Sweetness worth the mess

The sun's going down
Grab as many one can hold
Painted crimson hands

Blackberries washed right streight from the vine
with milk and sugar in a bowl is just fine

Premium Member Why I Eat Berries

Blueberries discourage diabetes and heart disease
red raspberries can protect you from cancer
blackberries help prevent gum disease
But I eat them because they are baked into a delicious pie.

Premium Member A Somber Dawn

A somber dawn breaks upon a hillside
     strewn with hedges of dew
         drenched blackberries

August waves its goodbye
More April shower ,than Summer day;
September settle,warm and mellow
Blackberries,grass green turns to yellow.

Time To Play

Pick your bush clean.

"You can fill
your bucket faster ,
and have more time to play".

When my Mom was picking blackberries,
long sleeves and jeans.

My Grandmother would tell her kids,

Pick your bush clean

It Doesn'T Rain

If it rained, she would become
Soft like blackberries
But now it doesn't rain
Not even in length

Sometimes I shout and hurt
So that she bursts into tears
If firefly takes, it's raining
And decorate her with its light!

Blackberries are juicy and sweet

And very delicious to eat.

For me though, I think,

Are those I can drink-

Blackberry liqueur is my treat!

The Darker the Berry

dark berries of vine,
quench up this overdue thirst.
sweet juices, divine,
rest on my deserted tongue,
colour me, how you desire.

At a Loss For Words

My mind sighs blackberries
and a moonstruck melody
plays along my spine
as I soak up the fruited juice
of I love you coloring your lips.
The cherry blush of breathless,
And a smile amid the wash
Of blueberry eyes, should indicate
My intended reply.

Writing the Poem

Writing the Poem
by Ayesha Karim

I am alive.

I am breathing.

I thank God that I have the sweetest Life.

Blackberries surround me.

I talk on my new Blackberry mobile phone.

I call. I text friends and family.

I seek clarity.

I discover clairvoyance that began as Insight.

This is a town so nice. They had to name it twice. Up here in the Pacific Northwest, it is a place better than most of the rest. Nearby grow apples and cherries. There are also good blackberries and raspberries. Living in this small city is fun. It is known as WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON.

Wild Blackberries

The taste of wild blackberries on her lips,
And the grains of vanilla on her cheek,
The tingle of brambles brushed my eyes
When I kissed the velvet physique.

A tang on the tongue of aniseed
When shuddering gasped a torrid peak,
The taste of wild blackberries then once more
And vanilla on her cheek.

Fresh Jueju

"Fresh Jueju"

When those blackberries of memory drop
from your windows of Summer crushed fresh
as a julep against your flawed wintry grounds
collect them in your minted cup and raise a toast

to what was and what will be

Blackberries big as my thumb

  Grew along our country lane

I'd fill a pail for my Mom

      For her to deal with

She'd fix blackberries with cream

And jams for her fresh baked bread

    Plus luscious blackberry pies

      Gratifying me

August

Along the backroads black-eyed susans snooze
Unfazed and unaffected by August’s humid hand
Growing tall with Queen Anne’s Lace beside roadside stands,
Utopias of sweet white corn, farm fresh beans and blackberries,
Shaded by shadows of leafy walnut trees, a dusty road romance,
Tabernacles of tranquility in summer’s fertile siestas.

blackberries relished, picked, coated with sugar, fingers deliciously stained. the tonic bumps twirl with my tongue the sweetness and berry bravado of childhood, picking and tasting this satiating serendipity for one. i wonder if my sisters and brother found the wild bramble? or is it all mine - this mine of sweet black fruit. 8/4/2022
