The Call of the Mockingbirds

A cacophony of mockingbirds
Waiting with bated breath
Pacing each other,
In this candy apple sky and
Chasing this morning glory

You make simple things
become  crudely entangled;
Knotting up a string;
Strangled thoughts and emotions
constricted to bated breath.

Separation of Two Hearts

Harsh words
A bated breath
A pregnant silence was how we left
Scorned feelings
Once love; amiss
You couldn’t keep me
Not even with a kiss

Premium Member The day he broke my heart

I waited with bated breath.
All it took was one unsaid word.
No hello and no goodbye.

Awaiting the Bridegroom

The house has been cleaned,
the hearts have been washed.
With oil, the lamps are replete;
all await with bated breath,
the bridegroom to greet.

the hammer falls

after a long silence
held together

how gloweth thine eye
in this sadness of sunlight…
where trees cease shaking
woodland rests with bated breath
wryly squirrels search for home

While King Kong had the Empire State building,
Kitty Kat reigned over the train yards
striking terror in everyone crossing her path.
With bated breath, we hoped and waited
for some superhero to appear and save the day.

Premium Member To My Soul

Where the heart and soul compress
Is a secret garden of helpless bliss
Foreshadowed by any distorted pain
Unrelinquished freedom yet never vain
And I shall await your bated breath
Today tomorrow until my death
For you are I and I am you
An interwoven love no one a clue

Premium Member Gripped Ketten

Gripped inside her studious look,
look at the razors in her eyes.
Eyes that speak determination,
determination holds you gripped.

Gripped with all of her quiet fire,
fire that feels fiendishly catching.
Catching left you with bated breath,
breath that’s totally transfixed gripped.

Italia

Italia, Italia
I write to you with bated breath
How I long to step in your sand
Sink down to the souls,
Of my ancestors,

Il sole e la sabbia

Your sand in my feet
Your sun in my eyes
Italia, you are my home.
The one I have yet to reach

Nevertheless, my heart belongs to Italia

Bated Breath

When I awoke,

I started thinking.

Am I rising?

or Am I sinking?

I live each day, as just a day, and carry on my merry way

But there's something more I am trying to see...

Open my eyes and show it to me!

I shall live each day with bated breath,

Giving in to Life or Death.

Premium Member Poker Face On - playing it cool

while the room spins around
dreams and wishes swoosh
in tandem in a mega swirl

one look and delirious delight
releases chaotic madness
a sea of sensations in motion

a swarm of tangents and explosives
perhaps concealed under bated breath
but the eyes never lie ~

Thus She Replied

The little girl who once rode my pony
I asked this day to marry me
Her bated breath quivering like happy lips
Over a bowl full of spicy hot chili
Her hazel eyes twitching all aglow
Excitement suited for life’s safari
I imagined this day dressed in genteel
My heart in wonder of standing hairs or bruised heel

Folks wait with bated breath 'cross the nation,

   For Phil's insightful prognostication.

      What will his prediction be?

We will have to wait and see,

After Phil wakes from his hibernation!

Premium Member Heaven at our door

it's raining so fun and games are on pause
the outdoors hydrate and regenerate
meanwhile we await with bated breath
the return of sunshine in all its glory

we live up high in proximity to God
where we commune with Nature
always grateful to enjoy a slice of heaven
right outside our door ~
