Dark Nostalgia.
A town unlocks their Baptist cage.
They shout and scream unholy rage.
The scorching sun sears all beneath,
Forsaken whips snap from their teeth.
Their eyes are slits that sting of salt.
Born black; born here; it's all his fault.
And what they learned at mothers' knee,
keeps cadence, creaking, from a tree....

Three Kinds of Bras
Now when it comes to shopping for bras
There are three kinds to "support" the cause

For all of those well endowed lasses
"Catholic" bras support the masses

When the most mature women come callin'
"Salvation Army" bras lift the fallen

And whether it's needed or just for thrills
"Baptist" bras make, mountains out of mole hills!...

John, the Baptist
He was a forerunner of the Saviour,
They couldn't comprehend his behaviour,
He dwelt in the woods,
The prophecy stirred his moods.

He ate locusts and honey,
People thought it funny,
His vision wasn’t in their range,
They saw him strange.

He baptized the repentant by the River Jordan,
He saw the glory higher than,
He was arrested,
His faith was tested....

Agnus Dei
They sang.
Echoes of an ancient cry
Of prophet wild
On Jordan’s bank.
Mystery spans eternity,
Infinity the source and end.
Provision planned
In love
For man,
For God
A remedy to cross the gulf,
Sin’s chasm,
Gaping wound
Unhealed
Till that great Baptist cry,
Behold the Lamb of God!

Scribbled after hearing Gounod’s music, ‘Agnus Dei’ on the radio.

God Loves Little Jacqui Clark
For the Reverend Jacqui Clark, of the church of St.John the Baptist, Devizes, with love

God loves little Jacqui Clark
With all her kind and merry ways
Bright darling candle in the dark
Dear joyful soul who lights our days
Thank you, Jacqui, for the love
You bear to heal our hurt and pain
For blesséd manna from above
Flows forth from you
Like gentle rain

In Eyes of God We Are the Same
we have God to blame
In God's eyes we are the same
saved us from sin and shame

from God we were made
then His Son in cradle laid
who in water would wade

what we did realize
Jesus John Baptist did baptize
beneath pale and blue skies

Mary was Holy
Jesus God's son one and only
Pray to them when lonely

As a last resort
God would give me much support
my sins out did sort...

To All Following Jesus Christ
We've got to hold on
No matter what's the
Devil's storm
Continue to be
Strong in our Lord
Until every battle is over
Yes the Devil wants
You to think you'll
Never make it
And He'll even cause
You to shed some tears
Jesus remember when
He gave angels
Charge over you
Down through the years
Remember His
Baptist male Spirit
Made you clean
Even if this world
Is spiritually mean...

John the Baptist
In the river Jordan
you baptized the people,
some were brood of vipers:
pharisees, sadducees -

hey sanna hosanna,
king Herod you opposed.
You were his prisoner -
his servants cut your head.

In spirit you survived,
bashing black pharisees
even in red cassocks.
White cassock will not save

the one with black soul
and be it the vengeance,
hey sanna hosanna -
just punishment of God....

John the Baptist
His first name was John,
Fulfilling prophecy Malachi told,
It was Jesus he could rely upon.
A story that will never grow old.

Announced the coming of Jesus,
A message of salvation, we must repent,
The Messiah who will teach us.
Putting ourselves aside, it is Jesus to whom we submit.

Had his head served on a platter,
As the party carried on,
An insane request, but it didn’t matter.
He was simply entertainment, a pawn....

Luke Kirby
He was of John the Baptist
and JHS age,
when he was executed
as they were for faith.

He was Protestant,
before converting to Catholicism,
charged with treason
against the Queen.

Sacraments for him were as in the book,
“The Defense of Seven Sacraments”
by king Henry the VIII,
when king was the defender of faith.

Of opposite ways they went:
the king and Kirby.
True defender of faith,
priest Kirby or the Monarch King?...

Miracle River
The Jordan River in Israel is remembered;
As the river where miracles occurred.
Joshua lead by God almighty was instructed;
To put the ark of the covenant in the Jordan
River, where an awesome miracle happened.
Later, John the Baptist was instructed by the lord,
To baptise Jesus Christ with water from the Jordan.
The spirit of God came upon Jesus Christ;
Revealing the greatest sign from heaven
as a holy dove while in the Jordan....
