John the Baptist

His first name was John, Fulfilling prophecy Malachi told, It was Jesus he could rely upon. A story that will never grow old. Announced the coming of Jesus, A message of salvation, we must repent, The Messiah who will teach us. Putting ourselves aside, it is Jesus to whom we submit. Had his head served on a platter, As the party carried on, An insane request, but it didn’t matter. He was simply entertainment, a pawn.

Lovely penning Catherine, such good rhyme and flow with nice imagery too. This is one of my favourite bible characters one we Christians can learn so muchfrom. Have a blessed weekend, Gordon from Scotland.

Welcome to the soup Rev. Catherine! Your poem has such a lyrical quality to it. So much contained in your twelve lines. Indeed it is a "story that will never grow old." I often think of John and Jesus as little boys celebrating Passover together and John asking: "Why does Jesus always get to ask the question." Best wishes for the contest. Blessings to you.
