Sleepy baby bird
Fell out of her mama’s nest
She remained asleep
Picked up by a gentle hand
Restored to her mama’s nest

Why does the stork deliver the baby
Does its pouch resemble a womb...

Given how far it may have to fly
~ Perhaps it ought to use Zoom

A paregoric solution might be the ticket.
To making me feel more spry like a cricket.
If I could find the wonderful opium I need
I could start over like a phoenix with baby bird seed.

Birds

I love to see the birds fly in that great blue sky. And when a baby bird tries to leave its nest its actually quite a test. Some birds are big some birds are small but to me i just love them all.

Haiku 5 - Mournful Cries, Way of Nature, Flight Into Eternity

mournful cries fill the air
mother bird calling for its baby
eaten by the cat

mantis catches butterfly
I am sad: yet, that is
the way of nature

loud feathered thud
- flight into eternity
deceptive glass pane

Premium Member Fallen

A fragile nestling, far too young for flight, unable to respond to mother’s calls, is grounded, unaware of its harsh plight. Indeed, if God knows when the sparrow falls, a holy tear is shed on high tonight.

Silent Strength

The golden eagle flies through the clouds so swift and easy,
And a tree with nest is her stay for years of three;
One or two fledgling young espouse colour as marking,
Hear her calling them, just them, when elegantly swooping.

Wings of Hope

"wings of hope"

like a baby bird
flying effortlessly free
there lies wings of hope

like a baby horse
standing strong waiting to run
there lies wings of hope

like the sun or moon
shining beams of light and grace
there lies wings of hope

Baby bird survival syndrome

When you’re feeling like a baby bird,
Going looking for your shell,
But you know you can’t go back,
Even though you think life’s hell,
And you know ‘cos now you’re out,
You must stand on your own two feet,
Come on now throw your head back,
And loudly shout tweet tweet!

Sand In My Shoes

.
.
We walk passed the
wetland wash
in the sanctuary of birds
onto the beach.
.
We see the osprey mother
in her nest of branches
on top of famous
Target Rock;
.
and out in the sound,
the head of a black monster
flickers back and forth
below the moving surface.

WALKING IN MY GARDEN

When I walk through my garden late in the day
I hear the drone of a buzzing bumble bee
What wonders I see as I go on my way
And baby birds cheeping in the old oak tree
Yes, those are the wonders I hear and see

Premium Member The Nearness Of You

Wondering where you are tonight?
Can't feel the warmth of your sight
Your wings that cuddle me under the moonlight
Your heat that incubates me in spotlight.
I'm a shelled-duckling not so pretty
My little heart beats so fast and plenty
Nearness of you I pray for each day
Your body to stay beside me all day!

Requiem For 8:34am

"REQUIEM FOR 8:34AM"

my phone is out of service
today my internet bill is due
my blanket is unfolded
my cell phone charger
is white
two new eyes
two old eyes
there are no cars
in my driveway
birds circle my clock
my love doesn't grow old
it grows up
today a baby was born

Premium Member Baby Bird

A calm summer breeze is the day,
and I will learn to fly this very day.

I get up and try and try,
for my mother is teaching me to fly.

Looking carefully at each movement she makes,
I will do whatever it takes.

You see, if I don't fly,
I will surely die,

and those are high stakes.

Premium Member She Dances

She dances she glances pirouettes in the rain
beyond her shoulder a turtle dove sits posed
She peers inside the water, a reflection of the self
looking back into time, for it is then that she espied
her beautiful smile intact upon a baby bird who couldn't fly
She poses in the mirrored lake, its a looking glass of sort.

Premium Member The Blackbird and the Squirrrel

In the backyard seen
A black squirrel running
The blackbird chasing
A small black squirrel
The blackbird hungry

It is trying to steal
Some of the eggs laid
Blackbird is on guard
Protecting the eggs
The nest on the fur trees

The squirrel no longer
Are fed the peanuts
Now that it is Spring
They must fend for themselves

Summer's Here

Cotton wool puffs that are up so high,
Drifting along in a clear blue sky,
A field of wheat waving just like the sea,
To see these things shows how beautiful the world can be.

A gurgling stream that goes rushing by,
A baby bird that's learning to fly,
All of these things bring a happy cheer,
And tell everyone, summer is here.
