The Blackbird and the Squirrrel

In the backyard seen A black squirrel running The blackbird chasing A small black squirrel The blackbird hungry It is trying to steal Some of the eggs laid Blackbird is on guard Protecting the eggs The nest on the fur trees The squirrel no longer Are fed the peanuts Now that it is Spring They must fend for themselves

Hello Darlene De Beaulieu. This is so cute and clever. The little dears that we help thoughts winter wonder wha happens to their food source in spring. I still feed them, just not as often. And put water out as well because it is so hot and dry here. Nicely written for our little friends! :)

Indeed! God feeds the birds (and squirrels) but he does not thrown food in their nests. My arthritic joints can attest to that. Lovely read as usual. Never disappointing. Thank you.

Hello Joe, I feed them in the winter. In Spring they still think they will be fed peanuts. That is when i cut them off. Yet there is one squirrel that keeps on trying. Until he realizes he must fend for himself. Enjoy your day my friend./Darlene\

When nuts are not available, the squirrels switch to other means of foraging food ! Squirrels are quite clever and the survival instinct is so strong in them. They even hoard nuts for winter. Well done Darlene.

Hello Darlene. Great poem. Nice to conteplate the animals. I love squerrels. Here we have them brown-red, very small. Spring is wondeful, and for animals is joy, after the long winter, especially there. Have a nice Sunday, my friend Darlene.

Hello Panagiota, The forest fires are still burning. There are over hundred of them still burning. I also hop3 that all the fires still burning will be put out for good soon. I do smell the smoke and it is a strong odor.It is raining today. So that is a good sign. Hugs./Darlene\ xxx
