To Hell With You
Micro-plastics have clogged up one vein
Fouled my stomach, and addled my brain
It is sad to say
But Trump got his way
Pollution remains a profit gain...

Song of a Senile Dog
There once was an addled old dog
Who thought he was some sort of frog.
He would sit by the pond
And croak out a song
Of his time in some distant bog.

As poverty grows
in this place once of plenty...
addled world collides

So many cultures
quenched for masters of sameness...
two worlds colliding.

On the course it's pouring down rain.

 Anyone would think he's insane.

but a ball in a hole

is his joyful goal.

I think golf has addled his brain.

Why Does a Poem Need a Title
I am deaf to words
That should come
From an addled brain
And mercurial soul
words came and words went
But the page remains blank
no words fell from pensive hands
this is the poem that
I will never write...

A PILE OF WORDS

They just fell onto the page
as I leaned over the desk
pouring from my addled brain
tumbling in meaningless streams
rebuffed by the virgin whiteness
brushed aside by a tormented muse.

What If It Maybe
Is it the dream
Or the dreaming?
Is what the know
Or that great big unknown if
That shades all
Knowledgeable disability
Body able
Brain addled
Thoughtless conjecture.
I don't know
But keep trying trial
Period over.
Next lifetime guarantee?...

Old Moon Face
That illuminated dust ball,
dough faced;
a pie with no filling.
and it seems to have the scent
of a long dead romance.

On the porch my spayed
lays her head in my lap
ignoring the weak wolf calls
of an addled moon
and its piss-poor love songs....

My ode to tax season ...

With compelling circumstance
thousands flocking to our door
braving elements of chance
what does new year have in store?

As they enter our domains
follow adverts’ beckoning
is there hope for addled brains
as they face their reckoning?

Armadillo

Armor placed upon a knighted
Rat, defender of the gold, not the
Man whose crown adorns it.
Addled pretender to the throne,
Dunce, in hidden jesters robe
Ill bred, ill tempered,
Lothario, pompous preening,
Lecherous serpent seeking
Only the safety of self.

Evolution
Barking
Coughing
Growling
Snarling
Not a little
Loving
Darling
Six a.m and
Waking up
Looking for
His breakfast cup
Tea will wake
The addled brain
Make the man
Himself again
Showers shaves
Dons cologne
Giving hair
Final comb
Checking tie
Shoes to lace
Ready for
The human race

Confessions
I have been so addled
That it is starting to exasperate me
I am enervated
From the lack of knowing
I prance around the words when it comes time to speak
Will they accept me?
The only “girl” in the family
But yet, I am not
They say family is forever
But is that really always the case?
These words burn a fire in my throat...

I just now had a little thought that swiftly sped away.
It was a "Senior Moment" and I have some every day.
I try to introduce a friend, but can't recall her name.
Remembering it at midnight is too late and not the same.
If she perceives my addled state, my friend portrays no sign.
Not worried I forgot her name, she's trying to remember mine....

Warmth
Icy lace scrawled across the window,
Four star bright eyes looking out,
One pair lit with sleep addled child's curiosity,
Another alight with kitten-ish mischief.

A hand reaches lazily toward the chilled glass,
A soft paw is raised to gently bat it down,
Soft fur and cold frost, and
The smile of a boy and the purr of a kitten.

Eggs
How happy are orange carrots!
Are you upset by how colored they are?
Does it tear you apart to see the carrots so chromatic?

I cannot help but stop and look at brown walnuts.
Are you upset by how dark-brown they are?
Does it tear you apart to see the walnuts so brownish?

How happy is the wooly cantaloupe!
Never forget the soft and addled cantaloupe....

Ambivalent Existence
I have lived as a shadow;
Destined for political battle.
I have lived as a shadow;
Searching unto death for identity.
I have lived in a cave.
I am more than an ex-slave.
I am spirit; I am a divine entity.
I have lived as a shadow:
Battered, bruised and addled.
I have lived as a shadow.
I am invisible ability.
I am without serenity.

Mining the Pen
the many points on paper shed
a life's addled grey matter drawn
the substance he beckons to have read
a fore life's solid matter flown

the conjured ideas contests bring
all the schmaltzy addled chatter
many light bulbs are a dancing
to tongues of core and matter

I put captured ideas to paper
stirring alive with every stroke
to find the day I, the victor
the title of writer's note...

Beleif In Sunni Or Shia
There spelt some say so badly
acceptance might be taken sadly

Why should accuracy matter
writing talking of delusion
thereby compounding fault

Or maybe not
let them slice each others throats

Both writing such rubbish poetry about religion
hate their minds all addled just so much indecision

All drinking coke drooling dreaming of relaxed blondes
Hate in their minds trapped by parents tied in their bonds...

Stooping Low
Madonna swelling at the Kilmore,
every girl a wisp of ungovernable smoke,
and vomit on my shoes as they threw me
out the door, addled and clueless as I was,
and, forgive me, still am.
I hit the tarmac like a warm can
but you stood at the step
and watched me breath,
and would do it again.
I was not swallowed by the dark
completely. An addiction way past taming,
you were a shocking case....
