Premium Member Readying for a Sandstorm

desert sand kicks up with a mind of her own on occasion
nomads know to wear scarves and layers in which to hide
camels shield them from her wrath, when she turns full blown
ruins in the distance hold a secret scroll, her exact location hidden.

the scroll seeker opens up his map, searching for clues
terrible treacherous sandstorm is approaching from the east
he can tell by the brightness of the sky, she means destruction
wanderer on camel settles down next to the ruin, readying himself

Sandstorm Embracement

Elements : Earth and Air

Beneath a sky I lay in vast emptiness
a desolate Earth of silica, still in silence.
a barren desert burning in hot flames.
quartz and granite in my fields of gold.
My ocean of sand, with a mirage afar
only thorns of hope in my parched soul.

Suddenly you arrive, whirling and slinging
A gale of storm, untamed and possesed
willowy oak needles piercing my grains
in your fervour so violent and fiendish
inebriated and dessicated, yet I fall in love.
thirst of my sand quenches in your Air
full of slivers, in your tumultuous lust
wrapped in your arms in my own dust
we roll and toss together...
we rise and fall together...
In our Embracement you erode me
and in my new dune, I bury your love.

I nurture a new garden in our oasis rain
My Sand and Your Storm ...
When will we see each other again ?

Premium Member Bedouin

Beyond a sandstorm’s gritty veil,
A solitary Bedouin,
Like a ghost in a sea of dunes,
Rides slowly along in the dusk.

The singing of rababah strings
Mimic the cooling evening winds;
Tambourines and flutes sound sadly
From the oasis where he’s bound.

His caravans once wound their ways
From the Atlas to the Tigris,
Trudging across the somber sands
Of a boundless and barren realm.

O Bedouin, where are thy tracks?
No hooves clatter in the wadis;
No trail of rotting camel dung.
O Bedouin, where are thy ways?

O Bedouin does your dirah
Yet teem with goat and camel flocks,
Since you have settled in the towns,
Which you once heaped with scorn and mocked?

O noble herdsman once so proud,
Tightly wrapped up in culture’s shroud,
Are you bottled up like the Djinn;
Forced to serve those who hemmed you in?

The rosy mirage of freedom
Is like a scarlet evening light
That paints the clouds with fiery hopes
Which fade in thralldom to the night.

SANDSTORM

cold front pushes clouds and soil into town
dry eyes fight the grittiness
of the bully sandstorm

Sandstorm

The sands are slipping
Changing our landscape
As the night winds blow cool
Removing the sun's heat

Still I lay--parched
Yet shivering
I long for the heat
To quench me
Before I'm buried
In your winter sandstorm.

Premium Member Sandstorm On the Beach

The wind sweeps quickly along the quiet beach
 peaceful and calm
Before the rain comes crashing
Lightening and thunder follow
the water capturing it's glow
As I watch from my hole in the wall cabin
Feeling it shift from one end to the other
watching the magic of the storm in amazement
As dry sand granules dodge the storm
And flutter wildly in the wind
 escaping their fate
 till the next big sandstorm

Premium Member The Sandstorm Winds of My Heart

My heart is like desert terrain
Sands ever changing, shifting
In constant flow
Pushed high and low
By the sandstorm winds
Of my needs
At times, a gentle breeze pushes me…
To watch over you
To care for you
At other times, a mighty wind pushes me…
To command you
To force you
To push you down on sand dunes
That rise and fall
To the rhythm of my stormy love
Demanding of you complete surrender
To go where you’re lead
Like sand, to be held in my hands
To be shaped by the sandstorm of my love
Here, here in the desert of my heart

Often what others share with us inspires us and serves as a catalyst for us to spin something based on that foundation and embellish it as we go along. This poem is an example of that! Hope you enjoy!!!

Sandstorm

You came  into my life
My Tuareg of the desert
Brought to me by the winds of fate
To fill the emptiness within

Nature played her part, bringing us together
Raising a sandstorm shielding us from others eyes

Just as the wind causes the sand to vibrate
So my body mirrors this feeling
When you touch my skin, to kiss me with longing
This dervish of emptiness begone.

Leaving grains of sand of desire
the priceless pearl of hope.

Sandstorm

I woke up in the desert,
No body around
Nor trees,
Nor ground.
Only sand, till the world’s end

Just with scarf and hat,
Until and after the sunset,
Step by step,
My feet are heavy,
My feet are weak,
They are sinking deep,
 before taking a leap.
No sleep, nowhere to hide,
With stars as only guide,
It’s a helpless ride.

I see water,
I see it everywhere,
But tide is pulling it away.
Towards despair, into dust,
As wind is getting stronger,
creating a gust.
Sandstorm on its way,
Its time to say hi, oh why oh why?

Step by step
Against the storm,
Against the wind,
Against the sand,
On forsaken part of the land,
With only scarf, and ripped hat,
Formal introduction is not required,
Desert and I already met,
B**** is making me tired.

Step by step,
Sand creeping in everywhere,
Yes, even there!

But I cannot stop,
I have to go!
Over the dunes
To the world’s end,
If I stop, nobody will find me,
Footsteps here, are quickly covered by sand.
They blend in, like no one was ever there,
Where?

Sandstorm Within

Blinding lights
Incoherent murmurs
Pounding heart
A distinct voice
Rekindled Chaos
Within the layers of my soul
Absolutely completely willing
To take a risk, to plunge into the unknown
Just one word, one gesture
And I’m ready to fly
