The Sandstorm Winds of My Heart

My heart is like desert terrain
Sands ever changing, shifting
In constant flow
Pushed high and low
By the sandstorm winds
Of my needs
At times, a gentle breeze pushes me…
To watch over you
To care for you
At other times, a mighty wind pushes me…
To command you
To force you
To push you down on sand dunes
That rise and fall
To the rhythm of my stormy love
Demanding of you complete surrender
To go where you’re lead
Like sand, to be held in my hands
To be shaped by the sandstorm of my love
Here, here in the desert of my heart

Eileen Manassian Ghali (inspired by something she read!)

Often what others share with us inspires us and serves as a catalyst for us to spin something based on that foundation and embellish it as we go along. This poem is an example of that! Hope you enjoy!!!

Oh how your sands can conceal and reveal the rich moisture of your love. There is an oasis of nurturing refreshment, and a cool calling to search the low moon glow of your nocturnal passion mystery. The Oh how compatible this poem is with my upcoming write Eileen. You know how severe, testing and loving your heart is, as shown masterfully with this desert metaphor. I will dream in the desert tonight...J.A.B.

Oh yes indeed my friend! You inspire ME...'To the rhythm of my stormy love' and the way you repeat the word 'Here, here in the desert of my heart' in the last line...VERY effective! You nailed this one - Tim

TIM... :) Yes, stormy love...that describes me...That second bit o the poem...that's ME!!! My soul breathes in that. I'm glad you liked it....They last line, yes...I felt compelled to add another here! Glad you found it effective...To say that I inspire you is a GREAT HONOR! Hugs!

hi eileen, I like this a lot, comparing your heart and emotions to shifting desert sands is very effective...I'm wondering who this ghost writer is! I know you write on lots of other subjects besides sensual ones, but it's the sensual ones that seem to stick in people's minds! I've written several myself, it's a subject I enjoy in poetry :)
Manassian Avatar
September 12, 2013 at 9:20 PM
Yes, that idea was shared with me, so...can't take credit for it.... ;) I just embellished it a bit...About the sensual writes...yes, we are sexual beings so, this topic does cause a lot of interest. and is often remembered. ;) Thanks or the visit, my dear. Great to get acquainted.

It's easier to just pull the poem from Nette's contest...I wouldn't feel right taking the credit if I won! HA HA! You are my conscience, Richard....BTW...about that inquiring minds bit....you know it works both ways right? There is so much of your work that I'd love to have a peak at the inspiration behind, but my inquiring mind remains....in a silent state of inquiry. HA HA. Ok..I'm being silly...thanks for the post!

HA HA! NO, RIchard. It isn't a collaboration in that sense of the word. I used the wrong terminology there....Someone shared this analogy with me, and I thought it was very beautiful, so I took some ideas and embellished them and give it my own flare, and that's the truth. Saying ghost writer just was my way of saying that the inspiration on this one isn't mine...Hmmmmmm....having said that, I'm going to put quotation marks to show that difference! :)
