Public Eye Poems | Examples

The Introduction

Introducing my dual identities:
To the public eye I am Jonnie Jupiter, the easy-going, polite, kind, thoughtful human being who is larger than life itself
Behind closed doors to "family" members, I am Jonathan... meaning I overthink, I hesitate, I desire control of my life, I am mindful of my surroundings
I will change, I promise
Right now I must focus on healing others
Before healing myself
Through the hardships I have endured through
I struggle to strive but at the end of the day I accomplish my goals
Hopefully I can inspire others to do the same. No... I will inspire others to do the same.

Ahead and to my right
I have you in my sight
I like to watch you move
You lock in with the groove
I think of things sometimes
Then write them down in rhymes
Not for the public eye
One read and you'll know why

Public eye

In the public eye
Of social gatherings,
She is found
To always be smiling.

Her energy is warm
Where her voice is quiet.
She doesn’t always speak
And appreciates their understanding.

She is bubbling
With joy and excitement.
She makes you feel at ease
In a way others never do.

Out of public eye
Away from social gatherings,
She is found
Shutting down.

There’s a tremble in her smile
And her shoulders begin to cave.
Tears well up in her eyes
As she looks to those around her.
The ones who can't see her.

Her energy is dampened
Where her voice remains quiet.
A soft whisper of a question
Nobody expects to hear.

‘Can I give up yet?’
She asks the room.

The girl who is always smiling
Is slowly falling apart.

Nobody will catch her.
She’s all on her own.

Premium MemberShe sucks the oxygen from the room

Where ever she goes the cameras loom.
They're on to the scent of her perfume.
She sucks the oxygen from the room..
Forever in the public eye, all daily movements scrutinized.
She must dot all x's and circle her y's
Transparent as a bronze gold fish.
Isolated, observed, on a petri dish,
craving for some privacy, a daily wish..
She pulls up her quilt and sleeps until noon,
aware of the face she'll be wearing soon.
She sucks the oxygen from the room.

Premium MemberThe Parking Lot

Late at night as I disappear from the public eye of the world
and leave behind all my worries and fears,
I take to the sky like a silent kite soaring in silence towards the stars
entering the sanctuary of a quiet moon;
With arms outstretched I long for the sliver of dusk to bathe me anew
and to clothe  me with her shimmering gown of shedding pink;
O'er by the sea I watch the urchins as they whisper to the mermaids
Captains christening their ships with spy glass devotion,
into the mysteries of night they go, gliding towards new horizons;
I lay on a hammock of woven cotton tucked between two hefty clouds of white, no one here to sing to me except angels with their bugles and golden voices...
This is (my private universe) and only the stars are privy to my smiles,
as I glide into this daydream in the middle of the galaxy
Late at night I disappear from the world awash with eyes of stardust
in the morning I wake up and realize that the world is not my place ,
its only a parking lot for the human race, and I don't belong in it...

Rush
To take the prize
As their own
Making themselves worthy

Anything less
Cringeworthy
Dirt to public eye

Being on the rise
All the way up
Never give way to lose

But how high
How long
To stay wealthly acceptable

Wondering myself
Why go through
These unnnecessary troubles and superficial beliefs

More to take away
What is really important
Our true identities
Humane selves

Money
Fame
Reputation
Eventually blinds away
The reality

These feeds us
As they destroy us
Ending in corrupted cycle

Do not forget
Where we are from
Who we are
Before these things come

Remember our names
Stay gracious
Where we come from
Is the way
We will go afterwards

This time is yours
As you, yourself
With the things you like
Throwing things you do not like

Do something
As you give yourself
The best
The unforgettable
To laugh yourself off glorious

Premium MemberA Green Rose I Send To Thee

A green rose I send to thee
on the wings of a bird set free.

With it comes my deepest desires,
that burn in the midnight moon on radiant fires.

Your secret mole, hidden from the public eye
flashes in my memory, dancing on ambers as if suspended on wires.

My drunken leprechaun, you intoxicate me with your lies.
You only want to amuse yourself while I take a green wee.

Betrayal

Cuts like a knife
Destroyed my life
Now i’ll never
Be your wife

You played your games
For 20 years
Whilst i grew old
And felt the fears
A lonely life
Brim full of tears.
A cruel encapsulation.

You are free
And i am not
So now you’ve gone
What have i got -
Absolutely nothing.

I waited like you told me to
Believed in you through and through
But then what did you go and do?
Total annihilation,

Rejection i can handle
Even hatred too
But it’s such a bitter pill
When it comes from you.

I did not like the drama
Of your last goodbye
You chose humiliation
In the public eye

You know the real truth
Of who and what i am
And i always thought
That you'd come up with a plan

All I've ever wanted
Is to be respected
It seems to me that all you’ve done
is make sure i’m rejected.

I just pray that somewhere
There’s still someone who cares
For worthless i am not
Despite your fanfares.

Success

A price is paid when we put our memories on paper
In so far as the printed word an apprenticeship
For craftsmen to weave their genius between them
That take over both astral body as well as breath of life

Opting to hide written treasures from the public eye
While family and friends add concerted aplomb
Or a noteworthy teacher pushes for publication
In revolt of Ying and Yang upon each shoulder

Delectable flavors leave us salivating
On this new treat the masses all want
For a healthy portion of stardust
To replace that starving artist within

Premium MemberIn Our World

Here in our world where other’s actions don’t make sense,
We must hold onto faith and never let go of what we believe
Not let others in the public eye tell us what to think or do
It is time to stand by what we know to be the truth!
Live our lives as best we can, retain righteousness!
Be all we can be, to contribute positive things anywhere
Nothing is too small, as every grain of sand creates the beach
When the wind blows, let us fall just where we need to be

The Great Abuser

I can lie like you wouldn’t believe,
Convince you beyond doubt,
I’ll back it up with reasons that make sense,
I’ll say it with sincerity,
Staunch and resolute,
Done so well I won’t need a defence,
I’ll play the victim,
Play the crowd,
I’ll play my part so well,
You can’t compete with me this is my show,
Your just a part I let you play,
And now that play is done,
You know this isn’t my first rodeo.
I'll play your parents play your friends,
I’ll play the public eye,
I’ll play them for their love and sentiment,
I can get away with anything because of who I am,
Because they’ll always pimp you for a settlement.

The Mask
By: Miracle Man
10-19-2018

Sometimes I fail to recognize the man
That hides his face behind a mask.
Who prefers the periphery (And being alone) over the public eye
While finding no task too daunting to attempt;
But behind this mask,
Lurks the face of an angry man;
Most days this man is filled with compassion,
But depression constantly tells him he is worthless,
To fire back and “Take no prisoners”

Carry Me Home In a Pot of Severed Circles

carry me home in a pot of severed circles
i must become a square to become more well rounded
i am but a recluse giving french kisses to the public eye
visine is the stop sign caution of the day
at night i have the flashlight sniffles as a direct pathway to clarity
my body feels soapy but there is no streaky scene i'm squeaky clean
i invite myself to ceremonies where all themes are monolithic
i take several falls until i stand with all bones broken
nothing makes sense anymore so i stop sensing
nothing has a groove anymore so i imitate max headroom
nothing pulls me in anymore so i push myself to outer limits
when nothing is left i will be one with the deer and such
jigsaw puzzles become shards of glass of wilted, fragmented souls
this is what we call life now but there will always be disagreements
