How can a place be no fairy
And no person either
The birds are gone for food
There are no seeds, no fruits
And no flowers blooming for hopes
I don't mind and need not a pity
In fact, I am indeed rattling happy
If this is a discarded land
It must be mine

I have to be patient, and not too concerned
About the things I can’t manage
If some of the stones I left lying unturned
For this I cannot be disparaged
The island is so overcrowded and small
New comers arrive by the boats
They want to steal space, so the natives can fall
Into the sea full of ghosts
But what was Mayflower by modern esteem?
No politics here, just a fact:
A boat full of immigrants, led by a team
Of Jesus freaks with legal act
To establish an ownership far, far away
They claimed it “the promised land”
How can you deny others doing the same?
For jobs you won't do they're godsend.

My gaze lingered, met by a nod of approval
So, here short words are legal.
At last, my heart finds shelter, an open space
Where emotions can find their place.
With a wink, I see a creature so dear
Lovely as morning dew, fresh and clear.
It wears a smile, soft as May’s bloom
That must be a sonnet.
Further ahead, another form I see
A tangled figure, lost in mystery.
Like a teacher lost in thought
A villanelle trapped in a line there is no rhyme.
Is this the promised land I stand upon?
Where words play emotions like gods at dawn
Shaping worlds with the turn of a hand
As poetry rises from this sacred land.

No matter the country we were born in
We're all inhabitants of earth
Maybe ashamed to admit it sometimes
Our much treasured place of birth
Since time began we've battled each other
For what I haven't a clue
Just look around at the beauty you see
An astounding vista we view
Is there something this old guy is missing
Am I alone in my love of living
Am I a lonely voice in the wilderness
This land is so forgiving
We abuse it and misuse it every damn day
This God given paradise we share
Disgusting behaviour is being exhibited
Destroying our planet without care
Certainly not fair for us peace loving souls
Our cries for love go unheeded
But surely we shouldn't give up the fight
Some common decency is needed
Maybe before my day is finally done
Paradise will finally be at hand
When all good people of our dear planet earth
Will as one each treasure this land

The Promised Land
poem
Lionel Derbyshire
In the dark I glance a silhouette I see..
A formation in arrangement from neck to toe I see.
A face creation in mask I cannot makeout constructed with neck and toe.
Like a whispering it politely comes to fetching me.
A silhouette so devine I fully see.
In neck and toe and stretched out arms.
It is white and lights up the dark.
Moving close to me..
Floating on neck and toe.
The angel arch bending over me
Starts to pamper me.
I am divine goods to be returned to my heaven's master.
In a precious life I have lived...
There was no pre-arrangement deal and
No longevity guaranteed.
A silhouette whispers me ..
God is calling thee.
Woe I verve with bitterness and trouble I foresee.
I see a angel's gleaming face in radiant animation.
Coming from a land in all it's enduring eternity ..
It rapture's with elation.
It is Elysium.
Without protest and to glee I see the guarantee ..
My act on earth is done.
Aboard I obtain a place
Just before breakfast I go
And see..
The Promised Land.
It was then
I understood all my fears
When I saw GOD ALMIGHTY
In the presence of
LORD JESUS CHRIST
my saviour ...

The birthday of Brother Roland
Is remembered beneath the sky;
Focusing on the promised land,
He just never fails to comply.

We search for it ceaselessly
each in his own way
Exertion, exhaustion
day after day
For all we fall short
we press weary on
A Promised Land
such striving
depends upon

Promised Land: A Psalm of Faith
There is a kind of strength comes to a wanting land
(Where six inches of unfavored soil must withstand
A chance for rain), when rooted in the Word
That brings hope through faith.
---And a roadside sign proclaims, "Jesus is Lord"
Expand and retreat, germinate and scatter
Rhythms of nature play out no matter
How the seemingly perpetual estates of man defy.
---And an ancient Ojibwa cried, "Sometimes I go about in pity
For myself, and all the while, a great wind carries me across the sky"
I knew of a man broken by this land
Who remains unbreakable in his stand
That he and the grange are one.
When asked why he stays on in this now dead sea,
—-Says only,"This is God's country and I am his son"

When once i was a pilgrim
Whilst following the sky at at night
I fore-took a journey to the promised land
And in so doing one day upon my travelling got
lost in the delirious midday sun amidst the
barren desert
When my legs grew tired underneath me
and my eyes began to shut
Until the last thing i remembered was taking
a napp under the shade the olive grove provided
And sometime in between my semi or unconscious
state of dreaming
A burning bush and booming voice
as clear as day drew my attention to it
Bellowing the answer to the question
you and those who tread this path before you
in search of other worldly treasures
said is burried beneath your very feet
Then just as i fell asleep moment's
earlier i was wide awake once again
And dug and dug underneath the money tree
until my bones and fingers bled and i
discovered the root of all evil

Man-child in his Promised Land
He burns Bibles as would a savage
Spews failed Marxist-Leninist garbage
Then 'safe spaces' he demands
Coddled criminal, he totes a weapon
Storefronts, he loots and damages
Government buildings his firebombs ravage
Then he screams, "The police -- defund!"
And all the while, Liberals take him seriously
As he spits and vomits on America and her history

I once had a post card with a picture of paradise
It had lovely scenery that wetted the eyes
With The glassy skyscrapers that mesmerise
It was a land where bliss and beauty lies
After a journey in the dark with a smuggler as my host
A sea swallowing lives roared at me at the coast
I saw my fantasy turn into a ghost
I realised paradise was the home I had lost
Home is never a choice we try to inhabit
Home is a place that chose us without bait
I journeyed back to my canaan, like an exodus retreat
The Promised Land I dreamt of was always under my feet
