THE PROMISED LAND

My gaze lingered, met by a nod of approval So, here short words are legal. At last, my heart finds shelter, an open space Where emotions can find their place. With a wink, I see a creature so dear Lovely as morning dew, fresh and clear. It wears a smile, soft as May’s bloom That must be a sonnet. Further ahead, another form I see A tangled figure, lost in mystery. Like a teacher lost in thought A villanelle trapped in a line there is no rhyme. Is this the promised land I stand upon? Where words play emotions like gods at dawn Shaping worlds with the turn of a hand As poetry rises from this sacred land.
