Premium Member My favorite teacher

quot: "The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.".. Khalil

I met him at a square dance, beneath the stars,
A square of joy where laughter filled the air.
Not long before he saw beyond my scars,
And asked me to change my path with care.

His lessons weren't just found within the class,
But in the way he taught me how to see—
No pressure placed, just guidance when I'd ask,
A teacher, yes, but more—a friend to me.

In the darkest days, he stood by my side,
A mentor, a teacher, a steadfast guide.
When pockets were empty, and hope ran thin,
His hand reached out, pulling me in.

Through trials and pain, his smile remained,
A beacon of light when all else waned.
How can I forget the strength he gave,
The reason i survived, the way i stayed brave?

With every step, he lit my way,
His kindness helping me seize the day.
In this foreign land, I owe so much,
To a heart so warm, to a soul’s gentle touch.

be creative the professor said
I thought I was
what did I do wrong?
I did not mean THAT creative, he told me.
In a stern, mean condescending way.
The trouble is,
I do not know how to be less creative.
And why would I want to?
Albert Einstein said, "Creativity is Intelligence having fun."
If there is anyone who wants to garnish more fun
You are looking at her.

Premium Member Helping the Professor

Eighty percent of all living creatures…
are females? I guessed.
The professor gave me a frown.
May I finish? He asked me.

Sure, I agreed.
But I guessed a second time.
Guessing trees.
Because they are living, right?

The scientist was irritated now.
I had apparently ruined his train of thought.
He finally spit out that eighty percent of all living things on earth are insects.
And trees, I added, knowing I was also right.

Premium Member Professor Cat Sneaks Up

My professor is the weirdest for a cat Ginger said.
He acts like he is out of his ever-loving head.
Of course, she turned and who was right behind her?
An irritated cat with an ugly growling purr.

Premium Member A Teaching Professor

The Professor had put in fifty years at the University of Dell.
It is time to step down, said those who did not know him well.
He began to teach chess, piano, and the art of puzzle making too.
These hobbies kept him alive and entertaining until the age of ninety-two.
I will go out on my own terms, he had always told his friends.
He had thousands of them by the time he reached one of his ends.
It’s just the beginning, one of his students was heard to say.
I know he is probably in heaven teaching his guts out today.

Premium Member Why Is Professor Kib So Serious

Scientific cat peers out of a steampunk telescopic lens
Designed to specifically see microscopic organisms
Who developed the formula? An inept dog queries.
Professor Kib keeps silent, studying his microbe slides.

Seriously why are you so studious? A tabby lab worker asks.
He is drinking an abomination from a dirty green flask.
Kib rolls his brown glowing eyes, giving a growl and a pitter pat.
His mind too concentrated on success to waste time on this cat.

AH, grandes diferenças:
um mestre pode lhe dizer
o que espera de alguém,
já a pessoa
que é professora
desperta as
expectativas de alguém
e mostra como

Premium Member The Professor Turned To Me

The professor turned to me
       What is infinity?

‘Neither the stars in the sky
nor the sand next the sea’

     The answer, thus he:
       ‘Every thousand years
a bird picks up a single
       grain of sand, oh-so-wee’

     ‘And even that
       'is not infinity'
         thus me

     ‘Jolly good!’

not only a few times
had I sketched
the pattern of your smile
in every swaying leaf
in every waning moonlight
in every wandering clouds
blowing softly to the west

but I ,
I couldn't sketch
the pattern of the wonder
in your deep brown eyes
and the secret sigh
you gently cast away
when you asked me a question
and I answered with conviction

Notes: This poem was one of my earliest poems written in 1994. Written during our " Partnership and Corporation Law" class. My professor was a perfect model for an oil-on-canvas portrait. But instead of sketching him, this poem was born and it was followed by some little poems which where published in our university publication," The Democrat".
