for he was fascinated with her creativity, her wildness and her lack of rules
limits had never applied to her, she was a free-spirit,
someone unlike anyone he had ever met
He feared if he did not capture her heart
he would continue on in his unsatisfying, misunderstood, angry life path.

isn’t the waltz a prissy dance?
I’m reluctant to attend the exhibition
until I get there
then I am mesmerized and enthused
I want more actually, I want to learn

If I thought you’d risk it,
I’d offer you brisket,
but since you’re a vegan,
unlike Chrissy Teigen,
would sooner be dead,
here, how ‘bout a Triscuit instead?

a battalion of horses
prancing around in my mind
snorting and pawing
make my muse crazy with happiness
mice run through their feed
she loves that, it gives her a start
I roll my eyes
not fond of rodents
adjectives on fire ping themselves in my musings
the usual suspects
some I have used so often
I have embarrassed myself
persnickety and prissy being two of my favorites.
redundant I use them so often
I want to use prissy again! Trixie says
I back off; she can be a very unforgiving muse.

These young people of today; what will become of them?
They are so open, so free-spirited, so annoyingly risqué.
I had no words for my prissy uptight great-great aunt, so I kept mum.
Then I found a provocative photograph of her back in “the day”.
I said to my mother “have you ever seen Aunt Minnie like this?”
My mother laughed so hard, she nearly fell over. It was her all right.
She was a Ziegfeld model, barely wearing clothes, a sexy little miss.
We decided to keep it quiet. But neither of us ever forgot this sight.

Inspired by a paperclip, the pen began to write
The clip danced a mean tango with a errant fork.
They were showing the room the time of their lives
When stapler began to click-clack, vying for attention
How do you do that without a hand? I asked stapler.
Sassy stapler smiled, thrilled he had gotten my attention.
It was a fantastic day in the land of the desk top.
We were enjoying the comforting click of the clock.
Then everyone began shouting and shrieking at once.
Seconds before the hand tossed over a large chocolate milk
Spoiling the mood of two notebooks and a wedding invitation.
I snickered at the invite’s distress; she had been gloating.

Hello pristine prissy people, now please go away.
I am eating a fine fantastic picnic lunch today.
Natural things out here crawl around and abide.
My little boy self is happy, he I shall not hide.
There’s an ant brigade on my left ankle and knee.
Dirt and dander that would make a hoarder quickly flee.
Something black is floating around in my glass of milk.
Go sit inside primly with your blue satin and silk.
White bird droppings are next to my purple porcelain plate.
You do not mind dirt? Then okay, it is a lunch date.
If you get finicky about things dirty or unclean
You might not like having lunch outside in this land of green.

The dog is leaping and frolicking like crazy today
But the cat is haughty, and keeps herself far away.
The dog is doing a Scottish Reel and a petootsi watusi.
The cat is licking her paws acting stuck up and snoot-sy.
The dog is adorable now, doing a line dance with cowboys
The cat is batting away her catnip filled mouse toys.
The dog is singing, playing a guitar, and doing a prance.
The prissy cat is sleeping; she simply won't dance.

You give me a smile that only comes from you
I smirk in my dreams, understanding it fully
and what it means to us, my body and me
upon awakening I realize it had been six years
since I have seen that look….
loneliness has become my companion
like a carving knife, it slices through my heart
when I look up and see a teacup with a flower
or a doily
you were prissy,
yet delightful
and I thought
mine….
you were more than a habit
you were my heart
I stare at joyful children
kicking leaves
and I see your eyes
I see you
in my dreams also
six years of you
tomorrow cannot fix the
loneliness of today
I pick up my pen
and begin to write
hoping I will not look up
to face another prissy teacup
for I do not know if I can bear one more…

“Let us travel to the zoological garden, “ said she,
born and bred in the eighteen hundreds.
I had no idea what she meant.
But she was dainty and beautiful.
One of the prettiest ghosts I had ever met.
I said, “Okay, let’s take my car.”
I opened and shut her car door.
She screamed when we began to move.
She was wearing a bustle that shoved her forwards.
Her nose nearly touching the windshield.
I asked her to take the bustle off.
She was horrified, calling me a horrid man.
“You are a strange young man,” she repeated.
Screaming as we drove faster on an interstate.
We drove around the city all day.
She recognized nothing.
We passed the zoo six or eight times.
I had no idea it was a “zoological garden”
So we never stopped.
She disappeared shortly after six.
“Bye!” I said softy, determined to look up
Some of her other words.
She was a dainty, delicate strange old one.
And her English barely understandable.
“Bye weird one” she whispered into the wind.
“I shall never forget this.”
Then I had a gentle brush against my arm.
A ghost good-bye maybe. I smiled.

What is the point? Asked Mrs. Snooty.
The point is I could not make up my mind when we
were building, so I said put all three in.
We are not talking light switches.
We are talking light fixtures, and they are
gorgeous. I love them.
Not in the middle like most small eight by eight
rooms, but marching down the middle of the ceiling
in a proud line.
The point is, I like it this way, and it is my house.
I love color, and they are all colorful.
How did I raise someone this prissy?
I wonder to myself.

Trump A Prissy President
When America wants to get in groove,
Trump as a prissy President remove;
Give much slack;
Never come back;
Hear him leave and horse's each hove.

Prissy, you came to us and brightened my day
A litter of kittens was all it took
You became our inside cat
Shy and quiet, most of the time
You were hard to love
Life was hard on you, so I could forgive your little ways
You were a friend in need, a friend indeed
You even forgave me when I almost killed you by mistake
The grey fur balls seemed to multiply, by the minute
You were a good foot warmer
We parted ways, one night
Your true love, came and swept you away to a castle
May you live happily ever after!!
