Invasion
In Sparta, we take care of our own.
We will die before we are done.
Shields to bash, spears to gash,
from hell to oblivion.
We fight for Peloponnesia and the Polis
with blood and phalanx,
till the battle is won.
The women are warriors
who also bear us daughters and sons.
Should she die in childbirth
then a warrior's funeral comes that one.
We will put them up
to match any warrior of the Amazon.
This is how it shall forever be, how it has always been.
If we are no more on this earth,
then for each other we will live on.

Minority rule Apartheid
We, majority, asked:
How? blaming the victims of hate!
I heard Gandhi, Dr. King, Biko
II
Now we who have media, wealth, vote ...
Ask Lincoln to police Minneapolice (Mean Polis?)
We quote, "Be the change you want," but
Dream dead Saviors, hate Prez Obama, First Black
III
We were asked to solve (apart-hate) - apartheid
We did so, without the vote, money, or hate
We are hard - fair - on you for murderous policing:
Just don't kill unarmed Blacks. You need LINCOLN for that!
Dictionary Entry Society
I dislike research with critical passion but succumbed to the web and expected
an intricate intermingled labyrinth to define society by its antonyms but short
and bitter was the answer to knowledge quest when one word one only in bold
letters HATE as if for an acronym Heartless Aggression Terror Enemy con-texted
On a positive note I had been thinking of love kindness compassion other mores
ethical virtuous traits like sharing and caring fellowship communal engagement
allegiance with no strings attached to foster common good polis and partnership
time story place of blissfully blessed cooperation’s mutually beneficial arrangement
Words and meanings change over the course of succession of periods and juncture
thus the modern dictionary may as well define society as a balloon with a puncture

Our kids came for a visit last Saturday week,
Just seven days of sun and fun did they seek,
Samantha I last saw 2 years ago, but John,
it's been a long time since we met one on one.
Our lives for the week were turned around,
They pulled us out of the doldrums of life
We went to places we'd never been,
They discovered places we'd never seen.
Places like Latchi and Polis, well known to us,
Took on a new light when they came along.
The Sea Caves, St George and Anavargos,
Photo's galore were a memorable plus.
Restaurants and cafe's, beaches and trips,
Food to savor and wines to be sipped.
Tavernas to visit and harbors to see,
All part of this isle in an azure sea
We spent time together, much laughter and mirth,
But time is the master, brings you back to earth.
So soon came the time, so fast passed the week,
Today was the day of which we dared not speak.
To the airport we went, so quiet and sedate,
We kissed and hugged, then they went to the gate.
Tried to think of ways to delay the goodbye,
We smiled and we waved, then went outside to cry.

Went out today for a drive with a friend
We'll go into the hills up to heaven he said,
Round hairpin bends,o'er hill and dale we sped
When I looked down the drop did I dread.
Through villages we sped, though not too fast,
That we couldn't admire the places we passed.
Then by and by we came up to our first stop,
T'was indeed heavenly, A herbalists shop.
We had peppermint tea and carrot cake,
I even got something for my earache.
Pano Akourdhalia was where we stopped,
Carolines Garden, the place where we shopped.
Soon this tranquil rest came to an end,
Off to Polis, we sped with our friend.
Lunch time came and found us there,
In a quaint little cafe behind the town square.
At the Art Cafe where Tina Tamamounas, our hostess,
Our hunger did placate with village salad and lasagne.
Finished off with tea and 'man' coffee and my Cyprus brew,
When hungry, it is a place we highly recommend to you.
The journey home passed without event,
A lovely day out and we all were spent.
