I want to love you calmly,
Show you my world as our
Hands slowly intertwine
And truly understand each other.
I didn’t think this kind of love
Could really exist.
I thought it was all one-night stands
That ended with someone hurting.
I mistook the flame of lust
For the warmth of compassion.
Love should take its time,
Not ignite quickly, then fade.
I kept chasing highs
And left before the lows hit.
I never paused to reflect,
Forgetting my actions left wounds.
I was focused only on my pain,
Thinking love would heal it.
I used bodies as distractions
Instead of learning how to feel.
I don’t want to hurt anyone else.
I’m tired of keeping things short-term.
If I choose to commit to us,
I want it to be out of certainty, not fear.
Don’t let the fear of pain shape who we are.
Let’s build the meaning of us together
As we try to be human.
And demons scream
Into the crowded sky
Of lands built in absence of mind
Of neon dreams, diners,
Haunted Malls n parking funeral lots
A ghost nation walking the wastes
Of neon dreams n marketing schemes
Hell is in the ancient seems
Of neon dreams n one-night stands
Money sex power and fame
All looks good on credit cards
Religion, politics, the oldest game
All know no shame.
All covered in the hues of shadows
Of neon flickering, dreams dreamt
Of future crimes
Of lost memory, lost history
The strategies in mysteries
Feeling the grime
All look good in televised glory
All just video violence in 30 mins clips
For the short attention spans theater of the mind
Dead eyes plugged into silicon
Systems of a dark web ruled
By something unknown, unseen as...
It dreams in neon!
She has a tumbledown deck, a creaky rocker.
Dandelion seeds carry memories
from one neglected garden patch to another.
She’s not that old, but her wine has mulled,
a hard sun has scoured her features.
There were children once. They play
now upon her mind
as crippled backwoods memories.
The ‘law’ took them, and the grinding years
brewed more bitter coffee, while on the decking
coffee cans were filled with cigarette butts.
‘No-good lovers’ still occasionally
practiced their shoddy dance steps,
but even the one night stands have dwindled
to hasty matinee tumbles.
Few life choices were well made or unpaid for,
yet in the ***-end of each day
she wanders upon her dandelion patch,
and prays to the girl she once was,
then she retires to a tousled bed
to sleep with the rootless shadows
that float as light as air
through her ramshackle nights.
An eight-year-old in ’29, one of seven kids,
Living in a steel mill town when it hit the skids.
They watched the whole thing spiral down, not much else to do.
She never got to finish school. My mama was a true Depression baby.
She’d talk of things they went without, times they just made do.
Told me of the hungry years, how they’d struggle through.
She taught me basic recipes for keeping flesh on bone,
But now I’m left to figure how to battle with my own depression, baby.
I’ve always sought to do my best; should come as no surprise
When left with next to nothing, I would learn to improvise.
Though bankruptcy, divorce and other cuts have left their mark,
I rose above it all to only fall into this dark depression, baby.
I’ve done some things to ease the pain: whiskey, smoke and pills,
Way too many one night stands, long walks in the hills.
I might’ve gained some altitude, might’ve gotten high,
I’ve never slain that dragon, though I’ve tried it all for my depression, baby.
A string of one night stands gone awry
Left them wondering, why do they try?
Lost in the state
Good but not great
It's good evening, good morning, goodbye!
My demons are inside of me burning bright
My alter ego has found his own pride
The smile on my face is a lie
My demons are inside of me burning bright
Words that rhyme from the heart of a desperate man
Poetry from the pen of a tortured artist
Arms extended in hopes someone will offer a hand
Stumbling and slipping as I walk through the darkness
Blood on the pavement, from my scars that are unhealed
This is what happens when your nightmares become real
Enemies can attack you a hundred times
But loved ones will destroy you by just crossing the line
a ladies man who gave a lot of females times that were Memorable
Until Depression struck and I pushed them away, thinking I had nothing to offer
Alcohol and emotions don't mix well as chemicals
I have a bad relationship with Vodka
It makes me feel things I wish to forget
Thinking about my old girl as I kiss on my one night stands neck
A threesome without her even being here
She hurt me so much, I don't have a piece of my heart left to spare
My demons are inside of me burning bright
My alter ego has found his own pride
The smile on my face is a lie
My demons are inside of me burning bright
Thunder greets me this Monday morning
As a storm was aborning
From this gloom I take my cues
Leaving me with rainy day blues
A feeling of deja vu I can't ignore
I've seen this gloomy day before
Melancholy thoughts are what I choose
Leaving me with Monday morning blues
My thoughts float in the clouds above
Of one night stands misconstrued as love
Precipitation from the sky now spews
Leaving me with the rainy day blues

A ***** was not just a thing,
but a friend of her.
From being mocked at for being a virgin,
To the eagerness for removing this shame.
From making love to her boyfriend to prove her trust,
To the innumerable one night stands.
She was a free spirit.
But first forced by the society,
And then named "WOMAN OF THE STREET".
The fact that you despise me,
Despite only having seen my good side,
Petrifies and destroys me,
Whenever I catch myself thinking about the things we’ve seen.
Polished against haphazard,
Me against you,
A lonely heart wanting to give all,
Belligerent in this fight,
Against complete apathy.
Don’t let me slip back into the despair,
Of one-night stands,
Walking home at eight in the morning,
Blending into the crowd of put-together people,
My make-up running,
In my dark and lacy clothes.
You knew,
That I loved you,
But you threw it away,
When the going got tough,
To pursue someone else.
Since I’ve been loving you,
I’ve lost my mind,
Colours, dizziness, ideas,
Overtake my conscious being,
Leaving my soul in the attic,
Of a broken mind.
I started to miss you as soon as I played his music
Marvin's room came on
It reminded me, our relationship is similar to the lyrics in that song
I didn't want to message you, But Drake made me do it
You don't need to reply, just hear me out
Thought I'd cried enough, but once again the tears are out
I don't even know your whereabouts
have you found happiness? What are you scared about?
Do you think about me?, do you miss us?
If I call you, will you pick up?
Do you have a new man? Does he kiss enough?
Damn, this is my fault, I never did enough
Are you in a committed relationship with life plans?
Are you in the club weekly, having one night stands?
I hope you know that you deserve better
We met at the wrong time, but right now we could work together
I've grown a lot, even got help for my depression
I know it's too late, but losing you was the lesson
I had to lose you, in order to find myself
If you ever need me, you know you can find my help
I started to miss you as soon as I played his music
You're probably happy with another guy, by now
I'm sorry but this was something I had to write down
I didn't want to start missing you, but Drake made me do it
When quite young ageing wasn't in his thoughts
life was for living, speed, fun and parties,
late nights, late mornings, T-shirts, football shorts
eat fast food, chase girls that looked like barbies,
no cares, and no responsibility
One night stands, selfish, hormonal, senseless,
took chances, no vulnerability,
time wasting, so much time to be reckless,
months, years pass fast, fun becomes memories
now funerals more common than weddings
pains, aches, search for medical remedies
peruse photographs, old films, his writings,
he may be quite old but not finished yet
there are things in life he still needs to get.
The day the one night stands had to stop
I read the stats of death and thought about
how life had flopped
I felt the stranger’s hands
and the stranger confessions
falling from my lips
with the sips from the cup
that had been passed
from unknown lips to lips
Somewhere we had tripped or been tricked
but for those of us who now are sick
it’s a communion that we had poured
and never meant to pass
If I lit a candle to our past
I’d light it praying that your silken hair
and imperfect body
had never passed from me
I’d cast a spell upon a night
that was so pure
we’d fight eternity
to keep our hold
We were so bold
that when the rosary was said
and the strand broken
I scrambled for the scattered beads
and clutched onto your hands
A flower...it grew.
A seed embedded beneath the soil.
Daisy,roses,violets are blue,
Lily of the valley, spring has renewed.
Faintly birds chirp before my eyes have awaken,
roosters crow, while grandsons are raking,
Cows are milked, playgrounds are built,
Swing into spring, flowers are racing.
Who will be the first to announce it's presence
Pollen drops from above seasonal changes progressing.
Lust is everywhere,
while love is in the air.
dress basically bare,
floor covered underwear.
One night stands
True love romance
kiss between lips
loves tangled dance
One night stands leave you feeling empty.
Confide your secrets inside my soul,
For they shall never leave.
Feel free, to feel safe with me,
For you have my protection endlessly.
Count on me to make you happy.
Tell me you love me and be with me.
Let me kiss you for the rest of my life,
For in your eyes I see my paradise.
No longer blind to what’s inside,
We share our lives, so you can become my wife
And testify to our child, that I never lied.
But I had to die through suicide.
For it was simply my time to say goodbye.

She was down on her luck, down to her last dollar
And no one around to lend a helping hand
She trusted that sucker but now he was gone for good
As sad songs where played by some old blues band
They rode into New Orleans early last Friday
But now he was nowhere in sight
Maybe another woman’s arms filled him with her charms
And with her he would spend another peaceful night
She herself found a few lovers that stayed the night
But real meals for her hunger were rare
They only wanted what she had just for the moment
As for the rest they really didn’t care
A year or was it two, she couldn’t recall
Just those long one night stands in between
One lonely girl caught up in her world
And still wearing tight Conway jeans
She’s hungry and tired, cold and alone
In a town that shows no mercy at all
They’ll laugh and leave as you die in the street
As only the cold dark shadows give a call
Too many nights alone crying real tears
But no longer will she hunger in pain
She’s now the city’s problem lying cold and dead
In the street that never knew her name
