Premium MemberPraise His Beautiful Son

while the stars gentle glow melts away my fears
there is a sense of hope despite the worst tears
the joy of each sunrise echoes through my soul
soothing the last ache that the darkness stole

while the breathless prayers are spoken humbly
there is a shadow of despair who blows numbly
remembering the day before I knew God is love
blessings poured down to me from heaven above

"REMEMBER"

Remember. I remember the pain passing away.
I watched as the pain numbly died to itself, to the
deaths I have caused,
shredding softened hearts.
Remember. I remember the past,
Holding out hope for mere laughter.
At this, I laughed until I cried.
Hope…
An unfortunate weak child.
Cancer, I believe;
I did not cry for Hope, this time.
Remember. I remember I spat-
promises to love-
countless promises spoken in vain.
Abandoned vows, dropped on fault lines.
All-my-fault-lines
But, too, I remember…. I…
I remember being invisible and you could not see.
I was trying to draw you closer.
Hoping to lay you down.

AI POETS

Every poem I read these days
Be it love or pain, long or a short one
Leaves me numbly amazed
By how poets use the robot hand.

When praised, filled their hearts with pride
For an expensive tour on a free ride
Boastfully and arrogantly they will say
They frame the words and lines their way.

I stumbled upon one just the other day
Forced rhymes and commas in disarray.
Blind to the misstep, pride led him astray
In the summer rain, his thoughts did sway.

Every poem I read these days
Just reminds me celebrating a grade one cheat
Like winter's brilliant moon rays
Glitters at the dark of the night.

Verisimilitude

Strange, after living so long apart
the things that resurrect the memory of your touch;
a vanilla-scented candle, the taste of Turkish coffee;
or the way flower petals graze my skin so softly;
the feel of waves beneath my feet,
the light of a parking garage…
the aching’s almost too much.

Sometimes I think I see you and set my eyes to follow after;
but it’s just ardor’s chimera, just a cruel mirage,
summoned by someone else’s laughter,
sounding from someone else’s street.

When I close my eyes the hundreds
of miles melt in my mind
to a single point in time.
We can’t see the water lap around us
but we hear its suggestions,
and sighing fold in on each other
like a glowing paper crane
nesting in the waters of the sky.

Once again I think I see your face--
the moon wreathed in penumbra--
And numbly grab a pen,
recording your ghost’s fading trace
in journals of sinew and cartilage.

Helpless

Instead of fighting- I can let them believe they are helping.

What really hurts is the kindness that resides beneath their frustration.

I can choose to become more distant.

So that I can escape the moment of their embrace which renders me even more powerless.

Because they are trying to convince me that we can take back control of my struggles together.

But I would rather continue this life, numbly-

Rather than wistfully.

Distrust

When I am alone with you-

I am trapped in the cycle of being tricked and betrayed.

When I am surrounded by others-

I am trapped in the cycle of fighting back, numbly.

My only strength right now-

Is distrust.

Summer's Facade

Of windowed light, what's let in
Summer's, may you blind.
As to what eyes' truth, behind
Numbly, coldly stares.

Stay wary, through butterfly's
Flame-speedy deceit;
In the form of this conceit
Everyone, in joy, fares.

Premium MemberPooh's Hungry Tummy

"Oh, dear! There's a lion in my tumbly,"
Winnie the Pooh, said, "I'm feeling numbly"
I'll climb up the tree and get some honey.
Nothing' like sweet honey on a sonny
Day near the honeybees playing dumbly.

DUMBSTRUCK

Every time I am with you, I am dumbstruck,
overcome with excitement, being stuck
in feeling funky, groovy, crazy like I am seventeen.
Hard to behave like a lady, nearing seventy.

Sitting across you, gazing at your smiley eyes
while we talk, sip our drinks between our smiles,
makes me feel a wild flower child instead of a grown,
mature woman for letting all my feelings out, known.

I am surprised for it was hard for me to like somebody
for my elusive heart was frozen in time, numbly.
I caught your eye and you melted my frozen heart,
made it feel again and warmed it until it sparked.

I am amazed by you and when I find myself dumbstruck
thinking of you under the moonlight, I become moonstruck.

Premium MemberWinter Contemplations

Ripples of vibrant streams stagnate
Songs of flapping birds relocate
Forest rustles hibernate

Skeletal trees shake, underdressed
Mushy, scabbed apples numbly rest
Brisk, harsh breezes pierce life's chest

Pruned trees develop healing scars
Skies of pewter, stone, and smudged chars
Meet to contemplate the stars

Sorrow and indifference blend
A crocus and daylight ascend

Thy Hand

Searching for the hidden answers
My fingers numbly trace each shape
Of every rock, nook and cranny
From this ledge I find no escape

My spirit cries for help from Thee
Tenuous grip but strong in hope
I tremble, falling to my knees
Upon this jagged, slippery slope

Remove from me this obstacle
My feeble faith is not enough
I’ve tried dear Lord to overcome
The steep temptations of this bluff

Intentions set, I know the path
Yet my deeds still will not comply
Each step tests and crumbles the edge
As I plead, eyes turned toward the sky

This climb, it seems impossible
That Thou sent me to overcome
But I know atop this mountain
The view will be a holy one

Thy hands replace my wearied ones
The strength I find is not my own
A foothold found, Thou lifts me up
From beneath this tomb of stone

Hand in hand Thou leads me higher
Til on the summits peak we stand
I never could have reached it Lord
Except by Thy great, loving hand

Premium MemberBlue On Black

Blue knee to a frightened black neck
9 long minutes to kiss the heartbeat of death
many gawked while others numbly recorded
the burning would start come early morning.
The protesters are marching for sweet justice
the rioter lions want a long sip of pigs blood
looters are rooting just for freebies and fun
bear and panda dream of wrecking democracy
the anarchist want to nail mayhem to peace...
Now the wolves move in on the innocent sheep
now the entire free world is unable to breathe
by George may all the hate in this world cease~

Inside a Cubicle

We work inside a cubicle.
Our faces bathed in bluish glow
Like corpses at a funeral,

But if we're dead we don't yet know.
Instead we numbly press on keys
Within our lidless coffin row.

Complacency is our disease
For nothing changes day to day;
A truth a habit guarantees.

Yet soon this herd with faces gray,
These mindless, faceless, zombie-men,
Will shuffle off each on their way

To find our peace, some rest, but then
Once more at eight we'll rise again.

Why Reading Kindles Brio

Aye admit, an author's adept
and adroit mastery
to link words together subtly crept
(expressing contents
in a matter of fact

understandable fashion, except
for dissertations and/or kept
jargon for exclusive specialty)
posits, that my wordy verbosity,
revelation, viz "EUREKA" suddenly leapt

administers cerebral, harmful
offal psychological usury
verdict I accept
fomenting gobbledygook concept
might create notion, yours truly inept,

plus incorporating confessional backswept
facets of writerly person,
as sigh nearly wept
(drafting previous poem,
sans book review

like an emotional bit torrent windswept
"And I Don't Want
to Live This Life" anchored in concept,
qua raw maternal did severely intercept
the motherly bond Deborah Spungen

felt toward zombified miskept
incorrigibly, horribly, grievously...
tormented first born
or momentenous insept
begetting impregnation and early labor
Nancy Laura Spungen since birth,

perhaps seeped when aye slept
into nooks and crannies of subconscious,
though one could breeze thru said book
such evocative anguish left
me numbly bereft, yet acutely aware
to vicariously experience devastating agony!

Premium MemberEscape From Purple

Purple facial bruises portrayed how her dreams died,
and purple blurs mocked her heart that numbly cried.

Mute were the many broken layers she kept concealed.
Frozen fears could melt her down if allowed revealed.

Nowhere was anyone in whom she could safely confide.
Her nightmare shared could snare another terror-tied.

Tonight, she’d run with strangers who individually knew
fragments of her whole escape from purple’s purview.
