The Day Is Done Monotetra

watching now that last moment sun
it turns away and starts to run
leaving it's bright lit light for none
the day is done, the day is done.

Insane Jealousy-A Monotetra

Jealousy is a ball and chain
worn by those who always complain
Blah, blah, blah in echoed refrain
With such disdain With such disdain

What does this person hope to gain?
One like this will never hold reign
  When pessimism is their bane
   Shamefully vain Shamefully vain

Something's off-kilter in the brain
Perhaps they drank too much champagne
Have a noodled mind of chow Mein
They can't be sane They can't be sane

This phobic one must feel the strain
Lack of love fills a heart with pain
  With pretense they righteously feign
Harsh words, inane Harsh words, inane

Love Was My Weakness-Monotetra

There is a weakness I must fight
Bane of my emotional plight
Holding me in its grasp too tight
My kryptonite My kryptonite

I always thought that I was strong
and with this man I did belong
Love has me singing a torch song
My heart was wrong My heart was wrong

When I felt I was past the pain
and from his grip I could abstain
Twas then I felt my courage wane
He called again He called again

Love blinds me to what I should see
My heart and mind do not agree
Amorous thoughts wash over me
Love, set me free Love, set me free

Love blinds me to imperfection
but after honest reflection
My heart has no more objection
To protection To protection

Unlike tricoleuse knitting room –
I hadn’t much fun by light of moon.
The crows at dawn abated soon.
I fairly swoon – I fairly swoon.

*tricoleuse: One of a number of women who sat knitting while attending public executions during the French Revolution. (3 syllables per Howmanysyllables, but no stressed syllable identified)

Famously referred to in A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens

Watered-Down Juice-Monotetra

A friendship made can often fade
I had one that quickly decayed
Loyalty was just a charade
I was dismayed I was dismayed

My eyes did not at first conceive
the lies her tongue began to weave
Slanderous words that made me grieve
I was naive I was naïve

She criticized me on twitter
Her betrayal left me bitter
What a mean gossiping critter
Won't acquit her Won't acquit her

Cruel, the rumors she had spewed
She needs a change of attitude
A real friend is never that crude
Hateful or rude Hateful or rude

Was upset when double crossed
Then realized nothing was lost
My looks burned her like Winter frost
Friendship tossed Friendship tossed

They day I told her we were through
She said, "I was a friend to you."
I walked away because she knew
It was not true It was not true

From ones like that, I turn away
Devious people who betray
She taunted like a mocking jay
And I, her prey And I, her prey

Premium Member Tale of a Tail: a Monotetra

This umbrella thing is not cool
I feel like such a silly fool
since I'm on my way to the pool
It's not a rule It's not a rule

It's purple satin edged with pearls
Cute when carried by little girls
but too fancy for us squirrels
Yes, it furls Yes, it furls

It doesn't work well with my shape
I might stay drier with a cape
when over my tail it would drape
Like a serape Like a serape

I like that you feed me and yet...
you cause me to worry and fret
I really don't mind getting wet
I'm not a pet I'm not a pet

I don't want to nag or complain
but let me scurry in the rain
A squirrel with an umbrella...
It's so insane It's so insane

Monotetra Poetry - Out On the Lake

out on the lake, a moonlit night.
bats' swoop, drink, skip, to my delight!
missed sleeping ducks put them to flight!
we duck in fright, we duck in fright!

we, so sure they had not seen us,
really had no need to fuss!
they definitely quacked a cuss!
oh! did we blush, oh! did we blush!

camera sensor caught them, great!
not the ducks they flew much too late.
bats in flight drinking beat that mate!
a moonlit fate, a moonlit fate.

time moved on the bats' had all gone.
a nightingale broke into song.
dawn broke a roe deer came along.
church bell, ding dong, church bell, ding dong

we called time the sun was shining,
our tummies were breakfast pining
church clock, eight o'clock was chiming
chorus jamming, chorus jamming!

A Poetic Monotetra

I have written this poetry,
in a rhyme, that’s thought suitably
structured, and quite fittingly
apt, as you’ll see. Apt, as you’ll see!

Monetetra, is uniform,
and I chose it as the platform,
to write this verse in fitting form,
that would inform, that would inform.

I am perhaps a tad sublime,
for it takes forbearance and time,
to write a Monetetra rhyme.
For those who rhyme. For those who rhyme.

The strict tempo, within each line;
ensures the metre, remains fine,
when one keeps to eight beats a line.
A strict design: a strict design.

Should you attempt it, folks will know,
on reading your rhyme, it will show,
your poetic skills start to grow.
The way to go, the way to go!

Premium Member Taste of Guinness, Scent of Heather: a Monotetra

Sunlit days I spent on the moor
Sweet Summer heather scents allure
Bathing in waves on Dublin's shore
Aye, Irish lore Aye, Irish lore

Crumbling castles on exhibit
Pricey ticket; warm day visit
Guinness stout without a limit
Tastes exquisite Tastes exquisite

Stung by wild bees in clover leaves
Winded, needed the help of sheaves
Love for Ireland my heart now weaves
And soon it grieves And soon it grieves

Time has come for vacation's end
And Summer's days with Autumn's blend
When I close my eyes and pretend
In dreams I wend In dreams I wend

~It Is Time~
(The Monotetra)

Time just arrives, and time just goes
And leaves right under our noses
Time is made of, all memories
And it just flows, and it just flows

There is no time for us to lose
With time we can never presume
Time brings us happiness or gloom
And time resumes, and time resumes

Time can be sad, time can be fun
And fills hours right under the sun
Without time nothing can be done
And we can't run, and we can't run

Time is yest'rday, time is today
And time is here for you, me, pray
Accept it, no more to do, yea
Time is to stay, time is to stay.

Stable Doors - Monotetra

Behind the stable doors of green,
the racing horses can be seen,
quite highly trained, they're strong and lean.
They must be seen! They must be seen!

All working there, they form a team;
the saddles and the bridles gleam.
Race prep'rations are a scheme
to win the cream! to win the cream!

They're waiting for the starter's call,
when they'll be taken from their stall.
They are prepared and none will loll.
The time will crawl! The time will crawl!

Returning from the race just run,
each one has answered starter's gun.
Their hides are gleaming in the sun
and some have won! and some have won!

At War With Nature - Monotetra

War with nature's a losing one,
it's just like spitting at the sun
No matter what, nature has won.
It is not fun. It is not fun.

Mankind can rape the forests broad,
with axe and chainsaw, trees are sawed,
but they grow back and we are awed.
Deserves a laud. Deserves a laud.

A species has become extinct,
but will arise, one more distinct;
to the old one it will be linked
That is succinct. That is succinct.

The sludge and runoff smother streams,
because of mankind's greedy schemes
and total lack of worthy dreams,
or so it seems, or so it seems.

The latest campaign is fracking,
sets the earth's mantle to cracking;
astute forethought sadly lacking.
I'm not backing! I'm not backing!

Into the oceans, sewers flow,
suffocate the whales' blowhole,
causes massive red tides to grow.
A tale of woe! A tale of woe!

A Kite Tale - Monotetra

A soaring kite was cut mid air;
a pine tree snared it in its hair.
The little girl thought 'twas not fair.
A bad affair! A bad affair!

Then it untangled, went its way,
to mount the sky on that bright day.
Sent greetings to a fat blue jay.
Oh, it was gay! Oh, it was gay!

Around the sky it swooped and soared,
explored a brooding, mystic fjord,
as all around it thunder roared.
It was ignored! It was ignored!

Then lightning hit the kite a-glance
and made it truly jump and dance,
around the heavens' great expanse.
Odd circumstance! Odd circumstance!

~Saved By Jesus Christ Alone~
(Monotetra)

Once a King left His kingdom and throne
To pay what needed be paid by Him alone,
Lord was willing to die for all sins sown,
Make new as shown, make new as shown.

Hearing of salvation plan make many men moan
Make them remember in sin not alone
Here or in Heaven no more have to roam
With God love's known, with God love's known.

Sinner living by His grace, not my own
Be saved by Christ who died for us as shown,
Give it all to God, He hears our cries and groan
With Lord not 'lone, with Lord not 'lone.

~He Had To Go~
(Monotetra)

He's gone and buried O, how sad
Facts are hidden, there's more to add
News of his death made world mad
This is so sad, this is so sad

There's no King of Pop now
Save he lives in our hearts we know
And his music forever will flow
He had to go, he had to go

Nothing can stop in heart the tears
He's at rest and has no more cares
The heart finds solace in prayers
Short were his years, short were his years

He's sleeping at peace while we cry
It is hard for us to say good-bye
Hearing his music makes me sigh
He just can't die, he just can't die.
