Don't hurt me!
I know my black skin blinds your rationality
But don't hurt me!
I am a mother, I shouldn't have to birth your bullets too
Don't Hurt me!
I said don't hurt me
Yet your offensive behavior drowns my defenseless heart
Palms up, don't hurt me
I see you are going to hurt me
Lord, my God, my Father, I rebuke this fear in your name
I rebuke this cycle of minus one
I rebuke this protection because only your hands can bandage what the badge has stole
Protect and Serve safeguards it's employees more than the people
Are we even people to you?
Don't hurt me, turns into pain washed by tears, wiped away by God
My daughter you don't have to hurt anymore
Thank you Jesus, please watch over my family, friends, and people
p.s. will death ever pay the debt of freedom...
“Curly girl: It's more than just hair, it's an attitude.”- Lorraine Massey.
With pretty ringlets in her hair,
a princess she appears to be.
Cute bows she wears give her such flair
with pretty ringlets in her hair.
With cheeks so pink and skin so fair,
this darling child I love to see.
With pretty ringlets in her hair,
a princess she appears to be.
Like Shirley Temple dancing, she
enjoys flouncing her princess curls.
How precious is my girl to me.
Like Shirley Temple dancing, she
performs for us, giggling with glee
How gracefully my daughter twirls!
Like Shirley Temple dancing, she
enjoys flouncing her princess curls.
Gold Medal Marathoner, Susan Ashley
Never can be accused of acting rashly
Carefully crafts each word, line, and stanza
Wowing us with her prolific free-verse poetry bonanza!
Silver Medal Marathoner, Lin Lane
Time to pop the proverbial ‘Pérignon champagne
Your podium pal called your `brilliant pen a daystar bright’
Your genius poesy, dark or light, is a poetry lover’s delight!
Bronze Medal Marathoner, Mark Massey
Sonneteer extraordinaire, smooth and classy
All of your poetry – no matter the form – are unique creations
Each is a masterclass greatly exceeding our expectations!
In the winter sky
when the moon is but a crescent
or is it a croissant?
Nevertheless, the twinkling is distinguishable
the random patterns of distant glowing lights
some turning on, others shutting down.
In all the years that pass
the centuries and millennia that exceed our time
the brilliant lights begin to dim and fade.
What we see now came about generations ago
and as the lights begin to slowly burn out
we recognize our time nears an end.
We are remnants of stardust
clustered beyond this revolving sphere
and what remains after us - are
just another star's tears.

The Star in my Avatar

My Avatar
My smiling face is my Avatar
I always wish to burst in laughter.
Any trouble! My mind to look after.
I hardly care for any disaster.
I look with smile, talk with smile,
Laugh and smile is my style.
Tears to dry up being volatile.
Liveliness completes my profile.
My Avatar is my smiling face,
even when passing through dreary distress.
Misery abundant, less happiness,
Yet to look cheerful in grace.

'Who is the Star in Your Avatar' Contest by Mark Massey
The woman you see in the picture is just me,
someone who loves others unconditionally.
A PROMISE of a smile I share with all of you,
to shine with HOPE when life seems so blue.
Laughter I give and SYMPATHY I shall shower
onto all of you at any given minute or hour.
Long CHESTNUT HAIR I wear, so silky and soft,
though I wear it in a messy bun very oft.
Sometimes this girl can be SILLY and LAZY,
yet my hopes and dreams still do amaze me.
I need LOVE to live and need time to write,
do all the things that make my life just right.
So what do you see in this avatar of ME?
Hopefully a GIFTED writer you clearly see.
I shall continue on with this SMILE I wear,
and maybe soon take better care of my hair!
So, laugh with me and share life’s sweet bliss-
as I strive to encompass you all in KINDNESS.

I AM THE STAR IN MY AVATAR---
I'm not a star;
Yet I have an avatar;
And what in the world
Why do I look so mard
Glasses aren't cracked nor blacken
It's a shadow casted lighten
At least I'm smiling, don't I look good in a suit
Aww1 what's the use, I am a star in my Avatar
Picture that...

I change my avatar
Like I change my hair
When the mood strikes
Locks beware
I showed you once
Completely bare
An older photo
Let's be fair
And now the latest
Most up to date
A perfect flame job
But as were fate
The very next day...
I shaved it off
And dyed it blue
(All true)

Who Is The Star In Your Avatar Poetry Contest
By Mark Massey
I was once a koala
Fuzzy, meekly peering newbie
Chosen for convenient cuteness
But misleading, as I have never
Set foot in the Southern hemisphere
Everyone who knows me, knows
I am a beast for books
A rapturous reader, a
Paramour of the printed page
Their feel, their scent enthralling
Everyone who sees me, sees
Round red frames sliding down my nose
After years of contact lenses, I returned
To eyeglasses, just because they feel right
So come, sit, let's share a coffee or tea
Which I drink every day, with cream
Caffeine so necessary for my well-being!
Also good for your heart, it seems
Eyeglasses, books, coffee - the triumvirate of me.

A picture of moi for my daily Avatar, on my balcony beside the sea
Such joy to return to my spiritual home with my husband Frank beside me
I can honestly say our last years together were the happiest we could be
But sadly my love was not here forever so we cherished each moment we had you see
My Avatar overflows with love, love for Frank and my love of the sea
Sadly Frank has now passed but our true love will last as our spirits entwine for eternity

I say this with excitement. The star in my avatar is me,
Wearing a black hoodie that makes me happy.
It has white tigers on the front at breast level.
Cut off in the photo, but these tigers gave me my sassy attitude.
My hazel eyes are smiling, because I feel fierce,
Wearing white tigers on your breasts will do that to you.
Anyway, it will do it to me. My eyes are dancing in this photo.
I look cute; yes, and I am not bragging. Fact not exaggeration.
I am younger, and my hair is okay for a change.
This was the only photo we could find that had the pixels required.
All of the other photos of me had too many pixels to upload.
I am me, and that is enough; my avatar is me.

My avatar is when I was about seven or eight
Those were not my greatest years for me
So I display this picture to remind me
You see me myself and I were the only ones
Who would play with me so my imagination
Ran away with the three of me
I stayed in my room for a fear I had inside
That this drunk man would find me
I could not sleep at night I had to have a night light
My mother worked all night
I dreamed of going here and going there
I once was a dragon slayer
I lived in my own little world that I never shared
Until I started to write poetry now I can go anywhere
That part of my life is over but it’s difficult to forget
Writing these words that I create and others read
Means the whole world to me

My avatar is a rose that I grew
I was so proud of the beauty
I had to share it with people I knew
So, they could enjoy it to see!
Pink, fuchsia color in a jar
Brightens the day and smells so sweet
I hope this rose will reach far
To bring others a daily treat!

Operation Enduring Freedom and the Purple Heart
The United States a country that thrives;
with strong men and women that are willing
to safeguard their loved country with their lives.
They march to a world that's unforgiving.
They never know how they will be received,
peaceful or with brash aim, long-dullness tire.
They're left vulnerable, sometimes deceived.
Confusion in front and rages inspire.
Underfoot the sounds of rock and gravel,
explosive bombs that have been camouflaged.
Towns and land, they travel to unravel.
The bolster morale being sabotaged.
Home wounded and marred, lack of confidence,
Purple Heart for a farewell performance.

Poetry Contest: War Sonnet
Sponsored by: Mark Massey
As he lay in an open field
Blood pouring out of his head
Trying to yell for help
He looks upon the clear blue sky
Wondering if today he will die
He can feel the wind from the chopper blades
Yellow smoke sends a message to the pilots eye
Pick him up or he will die
As they pick him up to put him in
Bullets riddle the red cross on the choppers side
A thirty minute ride to Da Nang
With his Jugular severed doctors had no clue
How he was still alive and he did not die
A brothers story told to me as he lay dying in an open field
