An Avatar Tale

I was once a koala
Fuzzy, meekly peering newbie
Chosen for convenient cuteness

But misleading, as I have never
Set foot in the Southern hemisphere

Everyone who knows me, knows
I am a beast for books
A rapturous reader, a
Paramour of the printed page
Their feel, their scent enthralling

Everyone who sees me, sees
Round red frames sliding down my nose
After years of contact lenses, I returned
To eyeglasses, just because they feel right

So come, sit, let's share a coffee or tea
Which I drink every day, with cream
Caffeine so necessary for my well-being!
Also good for your heart, it seems

Eyeglasses, books, coffee - the triumvirate of me.

A super poem; love that last line, too. Well done and good luck.

I miss the koala; I had not noticed he was gone until I read this nice little "triumvirate of me". Sweet photo and poem. Both yours I presume.

Michelle, great poem, now I know a little about you, I gave up on contacts too and wear my purple glasses most of the time, but not for reading, I also love the feel of books, best of luck in the contest ~

Haven't you tried hot chocolate to see how that inspires your muse? Probably your whole life you have been warned to protect your eyes from dangerous sunlight and now that the damage has been done, ophthalmologists agree your eyes must have regular daily exposure to sunlight or myopia will develop. Live and learn! Aloha! Rico

Yes I like hot chocolate too! Actually I am quite near-sighted and have been classified as 'myopic' for years, I am able to wear contacts but just feel more like myself in glasses-
