The Marching Poseur

Soft marches
spawn bravado
and cavalier soldier
He who scoffs
at distant gunfire
to meet its fury
Untested untried
untempered
his blade of little worth
As conflict preys
on the folly
— of the paper lion

The fear I felt last November
Has 
   Swollen
Like a Hindenberg blimp directly 
Overhead
Seconds from exploding
Time and space back to 1775.  
How
Now sent troops’ marching feet
Bear a din, underscoring beat,
Compelling 
   Alarm
Urgently
To ask, to answer the question:
How might we align
  our democracy

     For years America bordered on insane
 
        ~ ‘til ICE removed its migraine

Marching For Freedom

Medals on frames stood upright and straight,
Like guns marching on bloody road to Death March
At eighteen, he bore the pellets of war’s cause
Fingers wounded by splinters from a grenade

Spawned by raw courage for freedom’s glory
He counted black hours guarding his troops;
Piloting aircraft and landing on muddy swamp 
Worse was the order to kick his dead

distributed the latest bulletin
to all the residents at Highland Manor,
plus wrinkled her nose at noxious odor

purportedly emanating from unit B44,
we (myself and the missus)
felt in our lovely bones,
an imminent inspection in the offing,
certain as Santa Ana winds blow
strong, dry, and warm
from inland

some in life are meant to lead
others to follow
but on special occasions
God has seen fit to set aside one
who will march in life's parade
with baton in one hand
and the clown's hat in the other

Yesterday was Pi Day;
Today it is the Ides.
Monday is St. Patrick’s Day,
Where Irish pride resides.

The rest of March is nondescript
But as the month unspools,
We’re heading toward the date
To celebrate those April fools!

It's still real and so 
This time, I'm Marching into Miracles 
What are miracles 
I'm glad you asked 
A miracle is a surprising and welcome event 
So divine 
And can't be done by mankind 
So, who is it done by 
My father in the Sky 
Lift his name up

My musings launched into the stratosphere
Marching to Mars’ trending atmosphere
It's 2025
At midnight it’ll arrive
I’ll be taking time out in the new year

In the year 2025, we will rise and strive
With voices strong, our spirits thrive
Marching forth, hand in hand
To make America great, we take a stand

Marching Caterpillar

So the caterpillar has many feet;
Yet He’s not in the army, nor eats meat;
He has rhythm dances a funky beat git down;
Addiction now doesn’t have any teeth frowns;

It isn't easy to save the world 
With your back on the asphalt
Crawling with carpenter ants that
Yes even they
Want you out of the way

I'd head home to the building with no AC
Bring my friends back with
A trail of sugar cubes
But I tried it
Even the insects won't go inside it

Hey there!
Marching man.
Got a machine gun.
In your hands.

So, you know
How to run.
Stone cold.
Burning gas.

The fife with drum. 
And claymores blast 
You won't cut or run.
When time comes to stand.

The total Bad Ass.
Knows that they can.
American soldier.
A marching Man.

Loss Kept on Marching

Tremors shake beneath trepidatious feet.

To shake when shooken offers scents of defeat.

Took in thine imagery from perches unseen.

Salivating secretions ooze and seep secrecy.

Scantily clad corruptions do sit upright.

Smirking shards the aimless beacon leads.

Lapping pools of torment to endless vacancy.

Loser coagulates down under unsettled concrete.

Locked moments buried flags of victory.
