WILE E. COYOTE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With ACME’s ludicrous gadgets galore, in the desert Wile E. Coyote plots
Builds rockets and traps that his nemesis, the Roadrunner, inevitably spots.
*“Beep! Beep!” Road Runner zips past with a dare, and with a tumble and crash
Wile onto the desert does splat; undaunted, he sends ACME more cash.
Poem written for and submitted to Cartoon Characters Clerihew Poetry Contest, Tania Kitchen, sponsor, August 11, 2025
*Note:“Beep! Beep!” This onomatopoeia is commonly associated with the Road Runner in Looney Tunes cartoons featuring the speedy-yet-flightless bird and his constant pursuer, Wile E. Coyote.
The Looney At The Wishing Well
I spend most of my
days at the wishing
well, tossing in loose
coins and spare change.
One wish for them,
one wish for me,
one wish for them,
one wish for me.
Only thing I ever ask
God or the universe
for myself is to
keep the cash flow
coming in.
Only thing I ever ask
God or the universe
for everybody else is
world peace and
maybe just a little
bit more music.
Global population:
8 billion;
good thing about that
is I won’t ever
run out of wishes.
Don’t be shy,
grab a friend’s hand
and let’s dance around
the world. I’ve had
enough of this war
.
Premium Member Merry Melodies Looney Tunes Tribute
With a quick competitive descent,
Darling Daffy and his feisty duels;
No sportsmanship? He turns violent;
He’s a stickler for all of the rules;
Makes no difference if it’s a giraffe
or Bugs Bunny banging on that piano,
play the game fair or get cut in half;
This the challengers  ALWAYS know;
‘A lower standard will always debase!’
screams a bar sign in ACME letters;
Looking for a fair fight? This is the place.
Who’s fire with melodic measures?
Sly cockatoo sashays in with a grin,
itching to throw in a song that’s fire;
He holds the decadence of a violin,
and claims to be an A list player;
Daffy smugly looks him up and down
‘You win? With that? What fallacies!!’
‘I’m Fuego I play two. Give me my crown.
 Known as the best to play Merry Melodies.’
The Looney Toon August Moon
David J Walker
Blame it on the moon
The monthly insanities
The nightly vanities
The comings
The going
the longings
In lonely mornings
The Moon is to blame
For all of the insane
Things I can name and
It is as plain as day that
The night might
Or might not sway things
Another way
In the light
	Of a harvest moon
Setting south of August
The sweet scent of
Cooler air
Is on its way
Premium Member Coyote and the Road Runner
Wile E. Coyote
would wear Acme “floatie”
wings so he could swoop from mountain bluffs,
but always crashed below to silent puffs.
The Road Runner,
like a tail gunner,
would down Wile E. into the deep
valley floor with his trademark “meep meep!”
Premium Member Is She a Bit Looney
Aunt Gertie changed her home to unicorn land
The day our uncle ran off with a mariachi band
Unicorn paintings peer at you from every wall
A unicorn neighs when you use her bathroom stall
Is she a bit looney? My friend Dee asked one day.
Well what do you mean? I replied.  In what way?
Dee then saw my kitchen, made up in giraffe.
Never mind, she said, with a snort and a laugh.
Looney Tweets
Donald Trump just loves to tell "jokes"
Like, "COVID-19 is an hoax!"
When somebody dies
He tweets, "Its all lies!"
Trump ought to sign off, "That's All, Folks!"
Premium Member Crazy Looney Ugly Bug Face
Crazy looney ugly bug face.
Lazy, croony juggly mug race.
Daisy June-y muggly hug mace
Hazy, moony huggly rug chase.
Playing with words is so much fun.
I like them to prance from sun to sun.
Thrill of poetry writing  is never done.
Crazy looney ugly bug face has won.
Hey...! It's me again
Oh noooooo Lifting the veil
Whoa...!
Hard body: kids call me iron man
Whoa...!  No plastic dolls and wooden toys,
Smartphones for those contactssssss!
Strange calls heard by the people
Ain't that him? No it's her!
Whoa..! If you don't transform than you transport,
Is it life...? Is it planned...?
"I guess will never know"
Whoa...!  Ain't that the truth?
For love we do the craze:
Diabolical geniuses; studying chemistry
From relationships to the relative of things:
Right angles and circles...!
Mathematics and how the math teacher-
Charms me with all those numbers,
Aw...! Nothing but 1s and 2s!
At free period kids playing x and o
Whoa...!
Premium Member If I Were Looney
On the bus I pass by a building
We refer to as the looney bin
I can’t help but be looking
I see patients that aren’t locked in
They hang out catching a ray of sun
While smoking with an air of chagrin
They never look like they’re having fun
I think if I were in the looney ward
I’d want to escape the blah phenomenon
I’d want to pretend I won some big award
For being crazy happy with no reason
And I’d be laughing all day as my reward
They could accuse me of flaming treason
I wouldn’t care I’d be spreading christmas joy
No matter what the time or season
In the looney bin I’d whop it up like a real McCoy
Looney Balloon
Me and you
And the rest of the crew
Spinning through space
On a looney balloon
Filled to the brim
With the hot air of man
Knots and screws coming loose
Out on the fringe
Without a clue
Of who let us loose
Busting a move
On this looney balloon
As we flip and we fly
Slide side to side
This way and that
All along for the ride
Ashes to ashes
Space dust to dust
How much is enough
Before this thing busts
If not now
I'm pretty sure soon
Putting an end to
This looney balloon
Premium Member Looney Toons
Was Bugs Bunny the looniest of Looney Toons
Sure know of another who outloons the loons
Sits in the captain's chair
Jimmy Fallon messed his hair
Gone totally bananas, could be the country's ruin
