I feel it to a small extent - a little tinge of it -
those times I hear about
friends going on vacations to fun exotic places;
friends of mine receiving special presents from their husbands;
women I have known for ages getting plastic surgeries,
losing weight, and looking now like models;
Anyone who does not feel a tinge of jealousy
toward those who are receiving the very thing
one is longing for in one’s own life
I think would not be human!
But most of us can rise above the tinge of jealousy.
All of us are gifted in one way or another.
We need to have security in who we are,
and gratefulness for all the gifts uniquely ours!
Most likely, those whose good fortune we might covet
are looking back at someone else with a tinge of jealousy.
Nobody has everything they want!
We cannot know the many facets of a person’s soul -
their hidden insecurities, their dreams left unfulfilled.
Maybe there exist a few on a higher plane
with not a jot of jealousy inhabiting their heart.
Until we reach that higher plane,
We need to be as happy as we can be.
Congratulate successes of your peers.
Swallow any little bitterness and know. . .
with hard work, you can achieve successes in your life.
Imagine your dream and go for it!
That thing which is of the uttermost importance
will be the thing for which you ought to strive.
What drives you? What brings you the most joy?
Once you’ve answered those few questions,
take stock of your own life.
Are you doing all you can, despite even facing
possible hardships in your current situation?
Don’t sit back and daydream.
Force a smile if you have to.
Be happy for life’s winners.
Envision a dream that is attainable for you;
work for it, being grateful all the while
for the talents you already have.
Those with low esteem or prone to idleness and greed
will not want to do the needful things.
They will feel the tinge of jealousy; then let it fester.
Growing and growing, it will manifest itself
in acts of hideous deceit, or worse,
jealousy can lead to murder and revenge.
It happens all the time,
for it’s the root of nearly every crime!
Breathe. . . and let out jealousy.
Feeling jealous means that you are human,
but never go beyond the tinge of it!
Each Season of Living

The wind picks up
Changes to the season
From Summer to Autumn
The raining of leaves
Gold and orange
Yellow and red
Release what's unneeded
Trees teach us this lesson
The temperatures fall
The Earth slows down her pace
We breathe in the crispness
Of clean air in open spaces
We take stock of our lives
We cuddle and rest
We humans need to slow down
To conserve our energy
In Winter things die
We experience endings
Nature teaches us to accept
Death is not the enemy
Snow and quiet
Stillness and peace
Purity in thoughts
In words and deeds
When Spring comes around
We're ready to bloom
To expand our lives
Our hearts and rooms
We welcome new life
We learn and we grow
We know what it feels like
To have Joy and to Glow
We embrace the shimmers
We accept the Universe's pace
We know we have Angels
To bless us with Heaven's Grace
All that Happiness
All those Memories
Zen-like focus on our Gifts
Moments of Peace
The contentment we feel
Emotions inspiring Light
For we are all Warriors
In the Quest for what's Right
For when Summer arrives
Our Harvest is revealed
The bounties from Nature
Blessings are yielded
These cycles continue
Our Earth turns again and again
For each year that passes
Brings us Wisdom and Grace
As we connect to the Earth
And embrace Nature each day
We'll gather moments of pleasure
And become at one with her ways
The gains and the losses
The twists and the turns
Every single creature
Has its moment to learn
A lifetime of authentic living
If we commit to our Path
For we are infinite Souls
And our knowledge is vast
We are all connected
And Nature knows best
God's eternal Wisdom
Guidance and Blessings
Know that you're special
Know that Nature needs you
As you always need Nature
To reveal Life's Truth
So when the wind picks up
And the storms come in
You're stronger and wiser

Birthday feelings
Another year is back no longer can leapfrog this day
Where my body squeals on me from time to time
Melanin, flawless, caramel skin transparent
for you to view my friends,
Face ageless, mind intone to my compose poetry,
Every Nano second counting down to dust,
By the grace of the almighty:
The loud notification bell rang the old familiar tone,
From my well-wishers, on Facebook, and WhatsApp,
The thousands of unwanted gray hairs cover my silky black,
to match my aging face as I jokingly play around with my camera
My smiles seem to match well with my reassurance
of knowing that l am going to be alright today,
the loud notification keeps on coming,
I am releasing a happy energy
called I am alive and doing great
I have reached the good old age of ....
Here I am once again, unscrambling the word birthday,
Happy birthday to me.

Reflecting on our lives during birthdays holds a special significance. It’s a moment to pause, look back, and take stock of our journey. Here’s why it matters:
**Gratitude: Birthdays remind us of the gift of life. Reflecting allows us to appreciate the people, experiences, and opportunities that have shaped us. Gratitude fuels positivity and contentment.
**Self-awareness: As we age, we evolve. Self-reflection helps us understand our growth, strengths, and areas for improvement. It’s a chance to assess our values, beliefs, and priorities.
**Life Lessons: Birthdays prompt us to revisit pivotal moments—the highs, lows, and lessons learned. These experiences contribute to our wisdom and resilience.
**Setting Intentions: Reflecting helps us set intentions for the year ahead. What do we want to achieve? How can we align our actions with our aspirations?
**Celebrating Milestones: Each birthday marks a milestone. Reflecting acknowledges our progress and celebrates our existence.
So, on this special day, take a moment to look within, appreciate the journey, and embrace the next chapter. ????

Tapestry of Life**
In the intricate tapestry of life, vibrant memories weave their threads, each one shimmering with its own hue. The echoes of past workplaces linger like faint, nostalgic perfume, evoking a bittersweet blend of longing and relief. Seacrest, with its relentless morning shifts and haunting graveyard hours, etched an indelible mark on my soul—a complicated cocktail of disdain and wistful nostalgia. The stench of those long hours, both literal and metaphorical, clings stubbornly to the corridors of my memory like an unwelcome ghost.
Retirement feels like stepping away from a chaotic dance into a tranquil oasis, a serene pond that promises solace after years of turmoil. But as I bask in this newfound peace, self-reflection creeps in uninvited, urging me to take stock of the years lost in an institution where the pursuit of money overshadowed the pursuit of passion. What good remains from that chapter? The ledger of my life seems eerily blank, with joy elusively out of reach.
At sixty, my sanity becomes both a prayer and a quest. A few screws might be loose, but it has yet to shake the foundation of my understanding in a world that often feels absurd. Kindness flows within me, a gentle current that softens the harsh edges of life, yet I am acutely aware that this vulnerability can be both a strength and a weakness in a world that often thrives on sharpness and sting.
And you, a familiar presence, serve as a gentle reminder: “This path, tread cautiously.” In my next life, I envision myself as a poet—a genuine artisan of words, successful and unwavering. A master tinker skillfully weaving language into magical creations that inspire and enlighten. A philosopher delving into the depths of existence, unraveling the mysteries that surround us.
But for now, I embody Annie—the devoted content creator, the nurturing mother, the steadfast friend. And perhaps, in this role, I find that it is enough.
Amid the chaos of the world outside
The young boy's heart beat with a restless tide
Aspiring for greatness beyond the norm
But his path to purpose was often forlorn
He tried his hand at many things
Exploring the world on wings
From science to commerce, to tech and more
He sought a calling unlike any before
Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to years
As he searched for his purpose among his peers
But the light he chased remained just out of sight
All he saw was a tunnel, deep and infinite
At twenty-five he stopped to reflect
And take stock of his past, with introspect
He saw the muddled mess of his prior ventures
And started to ponder and rearrange his textures
He knew not what lay ahead
But he knew what lay behind instead
And so he made a conscious choice
To live with intent and a clear sense of voice
One step at a time, he began to walk
Towards the shadows and the light they begot
Mistakes were made and lessons were learned
And slowly but surely, the embers burned
Fuelled by his newfound intent
The light that once escaped him started to relent
And out of the abyss, a vision took shape
That of a man who could bend fate
Through the veil of uncertainty
The boy saw his purpose finally
And with that vision in his eyes
He tackled obstacles and soared through the skies
At thirty years, he'd come so far
To find his calling, his North Star
With every stride and every leap
His impact on the world began to seep
Now, he looks to the skies with hope
Wielding his vision as an unbreakable rope
For this boy, once lost, is now found
His purpose concrete, his destiny sound
And though his journey still has miles to go
He strides with determination, full of glow
For he's seen the world through a different lens
And knows his vision will take him to the ends.
W- When clouds gather more each day, we know winter is here to stay.
I- In our houses we preparing, while nature had already.
N- Nights become longer and darker, while days are shorter and colder.
T- Time to take stock of our lives, while we all hibernate.
E- Early we go to bed, it’s too cold to stay up late.
R- Resting time for most animals and trees, until it is spring.
S- Spring, is here can you here? Birds are chirping, animals cheer.
P-Prepare us for the warmer coming days, when lazy we can lay.
R-Resting time is done, a new season is here, and it’s time for more fun.
I- Invite us with beautiful flowers and fragrances, nature amazes us.
N-New seedlings and off springs welcome us, do you hear the busy bee
buzz?
G-Gone is it too soon, summer is coming at noon.
S-Sunshine and sunsets are now welcome, when days are longer and
warmer.
U-Under the umbrellas and verandas we shade, when we enjoy the
sunrays.
M-Most people flock to beaches, drinking cocktails and eat sweet peaches.
M-Merry we are, summer is the best season so far.
E-Excited and jolly season this is, but also a time for love and peace.
R-Reminds us also of Jesus birth, when He come to save His herd.
A-After all the hot lazy days, then we start to crave for cooler days.
N-Nothing last for too long, it’s time for a new song.
D- Days become a little colder and breezes stronger.
F-Fall, is here to come say hello, leaves are getting yellow.
A-Animals gather some nuts and fruit, piling up their winter food.
L-Long, hot summer days we can kiss goodbye, we can feel it in the cool
night sky.
L-Leaves are decorating our yards and streets, preparing trees for a winter
sleep.
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around again,
I take stock of my life and I’d like to say,
That every experience I have ever had,
Has helped shape who I am today.
Life is a balance of highs and lows.
I have had more happy times than sad,
But those sad times have helped me grow.
So, I’ll take the good from the bad,
That’s something I am Thankful for.
Although it may be hard to see at the time,
even bad moments have lessons built in,
While the hardships allow my soul to grow;
When life is good, I’ll take the win.
I can put food on the table.
And I have a place to lay my head.
I have a roof to give me shelter,
Nothing more needs to be said.
That’s something I am Thankful for.
I’m Thankful for memories of loved ones I have lost,
I think about them every day.
And although they are no longer physically here,
They let me know they’re still around in some small way.
I’m Thankful for friends who are still in my life,
For the fun and love they bring to each day.
For as long as I have people who love me,
I am more blessed than I can ever say.
That’s something I am Thankful for.
Many years ago, I hopped across the Pond,
And I’m Thankful I had the courage to change my life.
Through all the ups and downs,
I am Thankful for my loving wife.
We have been on a rollercoaster ride,
And the years are going by in a blast,
But, together, we can take on the world
Because through it all our love has remained steadfast,
That’s something I am Thankful for.
So, as Thanksgiving Day dawns,
Let loved ones know that you care,
Enjoy the day, the food and the fun;
Look forward to all the joy you still have to share.
It’s easy to lose track of what matters most,
As you deal with all the stress and all the strife;
Take a moment to remind yourself,
Of all the good that’s in your life.
It’s something to be Thankful for.
In the crowd the anxious feeling was contagious.
There was a general feeling of disquiet.
A foreboding loomed, that something pending, might happen.
Cornered eyes darted around fleeting expectant.
Then, someone yelled: "Fire!", "Fire!"
The crowd panicked, instant stampede for exits, disaster!
Did anyone look for smoke?
Did anyone smell any smoke in the air?
Did anyone see a flame?
Did anyone hear a fire alarm go off?
The heightened anxiety quelled any delay to react.
On another day when the crowd was less anxious,
and anxiety was much less held in common in the crowd,
the outcome could be different, a matter of time and expectation.
People would have taken their time to use their senses,
To confirm if the fear was real and whether a reaction was justified and when.
Time to poise, and take stock of the situation
before the 'fight or flight' was triggered.
Fear is also less contagious,
when anxiety is less infectious and inflamed.
Anxiety is anticipation of a threat that might happen.
We fear the threat of what might happen,
when that known anxiety is realised and comes to fruition.
Fear requires a trigger and a finger to squeeze thereon.
Anxiety is just the gun in the cupboard or holster.
So to fell the fear one needs to quell one's anxiety
Put away the gun, lock it up, throw away the key.
Learn to know your anxieties
carried as 'troubles in the old kit bag',
Learn how to put them down, throw them away,
bury them deep into the realms of the unknown.
For fear is anxieties known.
Fear erupts from threats
Emits from anxiety, that you know you know
are threats: real, silly, dire, fake, inherited, inapt, inept.
Threats to be or not to be, never to be.
So, to fell fear, quell anxiety!
Almost forty and I feel as if I'm in my prime. I look up to the ones I love and admire, and see their downward decline. Granddad, who's done more than his share of living, slowly has things stripped away. Cadillac sits parked. Ladders and lawn mower cultivate cobwebs. He fights to keep living, but he has a kinda pride that lets us know, "who are we kidding." God's about to turn the street lights on, and the kid in him will hurry home. Have an aunt just a generation away has the same fight as her pops. She visits the hospital more frequently. She's family and feels like a best friend to me. Can't help but put her situation in my own life lessons. Taught me so much about God and religion I could be an honorary deacon. Don't know why this reflection is suddenly upon me. Don't know why I decided to take stock of my life so early this morning, but I'm thankful. Whether in your prime or on that slight decline, a little love makes getting by alright. No one knows when that diagnosis will come; when God turns the porch lights on; or when the caddy stays parked and kango collects dust adorned on a coat rack; so it's best to get living. I guess my sentiment is for good health long after the holiday season. All the gifts won't amount to time spent so save your money this season and spend time instead. Time filled with so much love it makes those in decline feel like they're in their prime and those who are in their prime feel doubly alive.
The New Year begins with hopes and dreams:
with regrets for past deeds, and failed schemes!
Though full of promise, and sincere resolutions,
some think one day, will provide needed solutions,
but alas, it never can, and never will be so,
for those who promise faithfully, well know
the dawning of a New Year, effects no change!
It needs commitment, to have bad habits exchanged
for better deeds! So, on rising the first morning
of the New Year, as we witness the day’s dawning,
let us take stock of what we’ve done and said,
then resolve to ensure that we, in the days ahead,
will make this coming year one, which later we can say,
was when we truly made an effort to change the way
we treat others, and have succeeded! Then when
this new year comes to an end, and we - yet again
declare we will change our ways? We will find,
we’ve a lesser need to make resolutions! Remind
yourself, that the New Year, is only another day!
Possessed of no power, it is merely another way
to celebrate life. Though sincere is our thought,
as history records, resolutions will do naught,
without an honest desire to change, holds sway!
So take a moment to think, this first January day,
without your intentions are honest and truly sincere,
it’s nothing more, than the start of the calendar year!
