hanging tenuously from tree branch the ripe object of temptation

sunlight peeks through the hill trees signaling arrival of a new day

more a curse than a blessing, less a decision than affirmation

worn leather valise undergoes the rigors of final journey

faded granite marker put in position two hundred years ago

no matter how tight we cling to existence,

Even if I get up early.

It constantly feels like I am losing time
Time which exists in threes.
Like the birth, life and death of the trees.

Has been.

Like A Linear Guy

Just heard from Governor of
Virgin Islands on MSNBC. He
was once part of NYPD.

Looks like that he became a linear guy,
And only one thing at a time does try;
Not deceiving;
Help is receiving;
Hurricane hit so things are in short supply.

One year has passed

If Time Wasn'T Linear

If time wasn’t linear
and life was an orbit,
pain couldn’t make me old
and age wouldn’t sound morbid.

I’d know every ending
would only bring pause;
that birth was just as relevant
as any loss.

I’d know eyes are subjective,
and the mind is a trap
disfiguring reality
like a folded map. 

Doubt will provide distance
like a neighbor’s fence
as pictures and frames
