he stands in his suit,
blue tie hanging like a noose,
smiling with dead teeth,
signing papers that send
another man, another woman,
into the dirt.

our governor knows
there is no afterlife—
he isn’t sending them to heaven,
he’s sending them to rot.
if he believes in the Bible,
he’s forgotten the line:
thou shall not kill.
no grey area, no loophole.
he pretends justice,
but it’s only blood

Your laughter dances
like fireflies caught in the dusk,
illuminating the spaces
between our breaths,
and I am drawn to you,
like the moon to the tide,
pulling me closer.

Time bends around us,
as we dance in the spaces between words,
where every heartbeat echoes
the rhythm of forever,
an unspoken vow,
a love that knows no end.

As I stand here looking in the mirror at the woman looking back at me, it’s there written in her eyes all the secrets that her mind and heart keeps
It’s written all over the lines on her once beautiful face, the toll that the stress has caused over the years from all of her shame,

The breeze gently laughs at my window, with the innocence of a child who knows no evil

She sits there and watches the trees, waiting for that moment when life will be at ease, while her heart sings a ferocious lullaby and the clouds starts moving in the sky. There was nothing mellow about it, it was just the moment that came with the time and the people that were standing in
