I saw a
Gray Squirrel
Remove his
Fluffy Coat!
He was as
Naked as a
Scrub Jay!
And then he
Flew Away!

The chirps of blue jays fill my garden,
The colors, grace and flights keep me smitten,
They are not like peacocks of the east or the parrots of amazon,
But who cares, beauty is my inner perception.
The constant food search of birds gives me a good lesion,
Even if you try hard but don’t succeed makes you a winner,
The search for straw and hay to make their nest makes my day,
Anticipation of their nest with chicks keep my heart fluttering away.
I watch my blue jay picking a cherry from the big cherry tree,
Enjoying the fruit while spending whole lot of time to get the seed out and away,
The fruits of labor make us happy after difficult work day,
Enjoying the good and discarding the bad ought to be the norm of the day.
Einstein said look deep into the nature then you will understand everything better,
Nature engulfs us like air, we usually ignore it,
Just take a rose bud, watch its beauty and intricate patterns,
Rejuvenate your mind with thoughts and wisdom of creation.
Bobby Blue jay had the biggest deepest warmest happiest dream.
He woke up with so much excitement, he wanted to scream.
He had won the lottery and had built a harem house for his wives.
Also inherited a superpower that granted him sixteen more lives.
He twisted and tweeted and let the forest neighborhood know …
He was happy to be awake; we heard him under the tree way below.
The mushrooms were laughing, for they had increased his dreams so
The best dream he had ever had thanks to their psychedelic glow.
As the cardinal streaks across the sky
Leaving a trail of brilliant red as it flies
The woodpecker methodically
Peaks away at the distant tree
The mighty bluebird looking royal in blue
Taking over the feeder it rules
Hidden in the trees
Is the black crows of three
The doves can be heard chirping
As they gather in a grouping
The finches small but mighty
Take the berries from the trees lightly
Soaring high in the sky
The bald eagles fly
The hawk screeches
Grabbing pry as it reaches
The bats soaring through the night
Scaring those who see it in flight
The owls are asking who
Are they speaking to you
When suddenly the hummingbird appears
Hovering near to my ears
Sending me to a place of calm and peace
Feeling my soul release
in a morning drowse,
the sunlight warms the bed sheets,
blue jays bring you coffee.
bottom of the ninth
two on, two out, two strikes
the windup, the pitch..........

Blue jays is a thing of beauty
Their Blue and brown
Interchangeable feathers is also a
Very odd and beautiful thing
The way it reflects to light
They are passionate for keeping
The yard free and clear of
Insects and caterpillars
They’re also very smart
They have a strong attack mode
When my nosy cat tries to climb
The tree to the blue jay’s nest
The bird calls for backup and
Forces her to crawl low to the ground
With her ears down and tail
Between her legs, trying to
Get away, it’s funny
When they peck her on
Her behind, she does
A complete three-sixty
And they continue to attack
Until she's gone for good
Later she peeks out her head
But the blue jays are gone
the roar of silence
no pastime to pass time

two blue jays squawking
seeds flying and scattering
messy birds eating
shrills of a blue jay
chasing squirrels from feeders —
robbing me of sleep

for Tania Kitchin's Haiku - Blue Jay Poetry Contest
Days are longer, the Jays are warming up
Two months to go, baseball will start doing its stuff
Go Blue Jays Go
Win the big show
We're rooting for you, this year will be abuzz
INTENTIONALLY UNINTENTIONAL
How could that possibly be so confusing
Intentionally unintentional which forces reactions
As the blue jays fly
Coming to the deck
Peanuts are thrown out
They gather to feed
Then bellies full fly
away.
