Perpetual pain palliated by loving hands
ever lingering under bandaged wounds;
fetted rot tucked under perfumed blanket.
Covered is the massing doubt, ever growing,
Smothered; thoughts transient as dreams.
To hide quaking mask of broken memory.
Running. Inevitable is the spreading.
Infectious and living pain.
Soothing notes of warmer days erupt,
cursed by twisted mouth, death belied.
Of the body, it’s bones and sinews,
it’s blackened organs and sunken eyes.
But of the soul, of the hidden things.
Of promised dreams and unspoken hopes,
corrupted and lost forever.

I became infected with happiness tonight
as I wandered idly, singing in the starlight.
Now I'm wonderfully contagious—
so kiss me!
You're infectious you know
More subtle than any virus
The way you infiltrated my system and
Slipped past my defenses
I fell for you faster than i realized
And it wasn't an abrupt drop, no
Not a sudden stomach-lifting descent into madness
It was more of a smooth glide downward
Into the beautiful demise of my solitude
The likes of which is now splattered all over the ground
You melded with my cells
With my being
But instead of destroying me
You planted yourself within my blueprint
Within my plans
And dare I say that in some ways
You made me better?
Hidden in my structure
Lies you
I don't know if i can shake you
Or if I even want to
Boozy
Oozy
Woozy
Floozy
Drug injected, boozy, oozy, Miss.
Flu infected, woozy, floozy kiss.

This smile, so infectious.
Monkeys so pretentious.
Her eyes glow with wonder.
Reminders of when I was younger!
Each day, new discoveries.
Life's little mysteries!
There is so much that I do miss.
Such as;
your hugs and your juicy kiss.
You are always in my thoughts,
I cant wait to show you what I was taught.
Curious; what will you be?
As you grow, so speedily.
Your imagination, your dreams, only you can tell.
For you, my grand daughter, my heart does swell.
You may not a complete mirror image of me.
But I know inside you, I do see.
That there is art and history.
An old soul, is what you are.
A glorious and brilliant shining star.
I am always there with you.
In your heart, you feel it too.
The older you get, the closer we'll become.

While attending today’s matinee
Of a fairly new one-woman play,
My so-called “better half”
Heard a boisterous laugh
From the audience, making his day.
Though the play was deserving of mirth
This was like the best laughter on earth.
When the show did conclude
He looked ‘round for just who’d
Chortled loudly for all she was worth.
With the lights on, he focused his eyes
To find she of those jubilant cries.
He was thrilled when he found
That the best laugh around
Came from someone he knew – a surprise!
