Born in Lyme Regis Dorset
a palaeontologist fossil collector
in the English Channel marine bed cliffs
and a coprolites (faeces) detector
who at only twelve years old
found the first two skeletons plesiosaur
and outside Germany
that of a pterosaur
yet as a woman who did not
always receive full credit
for her scientific contributions
and ineligible to join to their discredit
the Geological Society of London
while struggling financially
for her it was no shell game
to make ends meet as circumstantially
when selling shells by the seashore
the seashore shells she sold
were her start of the first shell company
by the Natural History Museum in London I was told
Were Caesar's physique and a psyche imperishable?
Did he gain gifts from sources that were ineligible?
Hadn't all his possessions been from the heavens, rather?
Should he, then, for tributes, bother the son of the father?
Should Jews pay taxes to the Romans? This was their question.
Didn't you, as the infinite, know their foul intention?
If you say, You should give, they would ask you, You knew, Why should
If you say, you should not, you knew you'd be misunderstood.
Pitying on their stubbornness, you called them hypocrites.
Their minds, like a troubled pond, were full of perception splits.
Though descended from heaven, weren't you a human citizen?
They knew that if you wished, you could have been the sovereign.
Give away! Give up! Give back to each one his or her right
In ignorance-filled obstinacy, you said, Do not fight.
Take my advice,
And don't let your spouse,
Think you can replace God in the scheme of things,
As you will have a hard time explaining,
That you have not been given the power,
To change the the way the universe works,
Make new rules that everyone else automatically must follow,
Or to carry messages, that keep changing, between your spouse,
And those who are expected to automatically agree, with all changes,
Because you are standing in for God,
And it does take some convincing for your spouse to accept,
That as you have not done enough to be nominated for sainthood,
You are ineligible for this role.
The vagaries we grope with
The triumph of temptation avails
as the wind claws
Each heart is an ineligible abscess
Twisting lanes
Eternity scatters west
it all goes on paper
searching for a lunar shrine
a secret of scribbling sands
amongst the discounted heart
Selected unknowingly
unwillingly
To protect and provide
for the world ahead
Expected towards greatness
at no fault of his own
Yet selfish ranks are ineligible
unfathomable
The careless mixing
A job for unrefined fellows
Out to grab a piece
to bring home
for wonder time
While the steadfast
Keeps clean of jilted roses
bloody next steps and promises
out of reach
Yet the sill
enigmatic and demure
offers foundation
and a firm grip to those
that seek beyond themselves.
(8/30/13)
Domesticated thirty-something female
watches deep sea fishermen
battle with their demons.
Testosterone depleted husband
of ineligible age
watches lions mating
in the Serengeti,
orange fingers
stray to family sized
edibles.
Outside, little Billy is playing
with Tony, a bigger playmate.
They make up little games
even though they have toys
that don’t require imagination,
they make up little stories
about the toys anyway.
Freckled kids, good mostly.
Turn the radio off
and you will hear mother singing
low
as she washes her hands again
with the soap of regret.
Not my family memory
not yours -
but there were worse memories
hanging around on street corners
back then,
I guess you recall.
Family light entertainment
was once a real show
made when commercials
slept in tree houses.
Only now do we see
that they were
what the T.V. dreamt of
when alone in the dark.
A champion for
Its breed and Blue Ribbon prize
For the Best In Show
If the animal is spayed
Rules states, ineligible.
It started off amiable
The exchange always amicable
They had a first date t’was unavoidable
Opted for a light lunch truly delectable
Somehow the conversation got questionable
His stories grew somewhat unbelievable
Tall tales quickly became inconceivable
She started finding him reprehensible
Highly doubted they were compatible
Pictured herself as becoming rather unavailable
But the twinkle in his eye was ultra lovable
She began wondering why his intentions seemed illegible
Suspected it was a front impregnable
Yet his heart deep down might be really valuable
After all it might not be so inaccessible
That gem inside might be attainable
So a little patience might be desirable
Because he wasn’t that detestable
There was a little something so adorable
Eventually things changed and became quite bearable
And then even pretty enjoyable
So much so she decided to make this bachelor ineligible
A ring soon made their commitment palpable
Now their love has become infallible
And married life is incomparable

it hangs on your wall.
a faded black n white wooden photograph
probably taken some time back in the 80s.
It's one of those bootless thingies a new home owner would cast away, barely even noticing....
but you keep it.
like a lost wandering soul
ungodly hours find you on twos
mumbling ineligible things
to the ghost on the wall.
you stand there staring at the fading figure
it's reprimanding
at times it's happy. or annoyed.
but defiantly saying nothing.
it's in your house. on your wall.
it's vivid. alive. existent!
but only you can see it.
it's draining you,
slowly pulling you into it's ghostly world.
nobody else can see it
nobody can understand
'it's in your mind', they say,
'..or you're just delusional'.
mad!!
so you steer clear from mortals
keeping only to yourself
screaming, shouting, weeping
wishing they could understand
or that someone could find you.
but you're just one of a kind,
a ghost, just like the one on your wall.
Hear My Sweet Dreams
Hold your dreams tight!
In your sight then
Each night sleep there.
Dream on with glee!
You hold me thus
Lets be with care.
Under pale blue moon
Love blooms soon show
in rooms quite fair.
Velvet touch spreads!
On soft beds slept
Love weds our pair.
I think your kiss
Each I miss now
A remised share.
Hear my sweet dreams
We ride streams down
Fire steams our pair!

POETRY FORM- Than-Bauk, 4 syllables per verse, 3 verses per poem.
I wrote mine as a double--never like to be restrained or told to follow limiting rules.
Thus this one is ineligible for the contest I wrote it for.
No disrespect but too bad the sponsor decided they did not want to read longer poems. -Tyr
