Humans Fed to the Minotaur

There’s something in our entrails knows this dread.
You hear it scratching – that’s alarm enough.
That snorting half-suppressed, that flagstone scuffed,
a passing shadow of a massive head,
and we scent darkness, dark beyond the dead.
It hovers like Unreason. Does it know?
Canals of self-containment overflow,
like wits’ weak walls, at that approaching tread.
Our fingers, feeling for that flimsy thread,

A LITTLE MORE LIKE THE BIRDS

We are accustomed to a variety birds who, after we fill our feeders, find a way
to fly up, perch a while and have a snack or two every day.

It’s usually the same birds each day with quiet smiles we greet 
but recently a Rose-breasted grosbeak happened by for a bite to eat.

Along with the thunder

As the smiles in the cloud brighten,
    a cloudburst of joy
  sends gentle kisses on our rooftops,
pouring down clouded tears—
    bottled-up emotions
to quench the thirsts of
    humans, plants, animals... and phantoms.

The trees—
 with feet rooted deep in earth—
  stood humble as a worm.

If we humans were to create the vast nature in a dream life

If we humans were to create the vast nature in a dream life,
A sky like a sponge would absorb the pollution spreading around,
Each day heavy with clouds that hide the divine brilliance,
The vastness of the sky would pale before our weary minds.
Perhaps we wouldn't invent birds, but silent drones for purposes
That wouldn't know the morning

What even is this?

• Blazing hot ice
• Chilly open flames
• Animals wearing clothes
• Humans with no names
• Empty houses with legs
• Rats hatching from eggs
• Marbles from the water faucet
• Shucking pods and getting pegs in 

Memories fade

As Memories dim and fade
Past favours are forgotten

Ingratitude breeds envy and jealousy 
And promises of love till death 

Made under the heat of the moment 
Fade and are forgotten 

Emotions take flight under new guise
Beautiful memories of years past

Dim and diminish as cognitive health wanes
For Humans are just mere mortals
