barely clinging to the last remaining illusion

Not A Coward

He took the coward’s way out
Over and over they flout.
Only those who tried to end
Can comprehend the blend.
For truly committing to no return
Is rooted in constant yearn.
Trying to cross the other side
Requires the loss of pride.
The irony of being a suicide
Is the longing to survive.

The burning desire to be loved.
Hope simply caught in rope.

Searching for a flawless dawn

Off the sharp edge of the world, am I stepping?
Do mirrors start whispering as shadows prepare to sing?
The way it looks through me, its soul swallowing
Where do I flee from here to delay from disappearing?
Pull me out, that I might find my reckoning
My feet grow weary of all this merciless sleepwalking
Deafening, I hear my heart

Avenida Station Blues

An hour dissolves
Into endless waiting
While buses fading
Into grey haze
Leave me gazing
Through downcast eyes
At phantom swirls
Of mounting fears
That chain my feet
From homeward paths
Where comfort dwells
In memories sweet
Of shared times' past
Till diesel fumes 
And echoed calls
Fade like ghosts 
Through station walls

in this awful place
feeling as if I'm
just full of hate

my body is hurting
and my heart frozen
I wonder if this is
what God has chosen

Petals of Pain

Soft tears stream down her sorrowful face
Petals of pain peeling away her peace
Drops of desolation that delve into dejection
Why, asks her depressed mind? 
Not another cycle, says her miserable soul
Unhappy sobs steal her joy and upset her mood
Precious prayers unanswered again
How much more can she take? 
Petals of perplexity pervade her poignancy
Hold on to hope,

Be Mine Or Nobody's

Every thought, every vision you will dream
must evolve around me:

A Birds Cry for Freedom

I have been encaged all my life for mans pleasure and fun, 
my precious life had sadly ended before it even begun. 

In human terms I have been enslaved so man could hear my song. 
Behind the bars I am to stay in a place I don’t belong.

On saddened tunes I hop and play as

In the cool of the morning,
He walks in the garden,

For what they cannot know

He fills their minds with falsehoods,
Planting enmity deep within
To choke the roots

Watching the protests grow larger and stronger
     burying hope in the stench of a dumpster

   Hearing speakers extol baby-burners
     they themselves as unhinged as murderers

   What has America come to when human butchery is praised
     with social media as

The white doves as they left the rivers of joy and light 
Wept as they saw night's darkness approaching their garden of gladness

In the midst of a WISTFUL dream,
I wander, WITHDRAWN, it would seem,
For the world around me is GRIM,
And my mood is MELANCHOLY brimmed.
A SHROUD of sadness covers me,
As I sink into the depths of my misery,
DEPRESSION grips my soul so tight,
It makes it hard to see the light.

I Remember

In my time of need as a young man
I sat in the pew staring
just staring at the stained glass windows 
Jesus was talking to Mary 
and I found some comfort there
speaking to me more than any sermon
love was a stranger always peering from the shadows
now and again she was more than words 
but words change
