Premium Member The Newly Dead

Whither shall I go—
Shall I haunt the willow
Drag my nails 'cross thy dewy window
Push the wicker chair to and fro?
These are all terrors that I know
What do the newly dead do
When there is nowhere
We would venture to
Or care feel despair
Or shed boo-hoos
Should I wait in the broom
Closet for you
Radiating gloom
Waiting to shout "boo!"
What do the newly dead do?
They said it would be fun
To watch the frightened run,
But so far that just isn't true
And maybe a little mean
From the little I've seen—
But hey, I'm new;
Maybe just one of the few
Who wishes there was something better
To do
Than scare another bed-wetter
Or ruin a new hairdo—
It's just all so boring
We sit 'round till morning
Then some awful cock crows
Ringing thro' fields and clear 'cross meadows
And everything just turns black—
And it's cold
And there's a smell—
Like putrid mold.
Well,
I guess it's better than hell,
But who the hell knows

Premium Member Age Appropriate

Whining, is age appropriate,
With wrinkles - both newborns and aged.
Boo-hoos - in cradle; before grave.
The old straitened; babes’ swaddled.

With wrinkles, both newborns and aged,
They are bathed, despoiled, and diapered.

Rock and roll lullabies, falling.

Premium Member The Black Bee Club

The new gentleman’s club is rumored to be exclusive to the braggarts in town.
They have to dress up, and some of these squirrels used to only dress down.
Are their pole dancers? Another teacher asked of all people, unknowing me.
Unsure, I replied. The only thing I know is they have named it The Black Bee.

Black Bee; seems odd, said a few school teachers at our lunch table.
One claimed there were auditions, her name is Miss Merrywinkle Mable.
It is exclusive, I think I said, I heard there are monthly membership dues.
Let’s go over there and find out, said our resident biddy, Sally Boo Hoos.

Some of the men of the club caught wind of our plan and made a secret knock.
They put out a sign also that said this club is closed until nine o’clock.
Is this only a men’s club? Merrywinkle asked, sticking a note to their door.
Those sneaky Black Bee members eventually moved their club to the shore.

My Ole Hound Dog

I was having one of “those” mornings
being all boo-hoo
and feeling sorry for myself
just counting the ways
that things were so uncool
when my ole hound-dog came up
and nuzzled my thigh
I reached down and rubbed his ears
and got to thinking
do hound-dogs ever get the boo-hoos
and I realized
yeah, they probably do
with that revealing flash of insight
I got down on my knees
and gave my ole hound-dog a hug so tight
that it hitched my breathing
he got to wagging and licking
tossing his head and smiling
and I got to making all that
talking-to-my-ole-hound-dog-baby-talk
while we were having ourselves
a good ole time together
I got to thinking again
when you get the boo-hoos
and start feeling sorry for yourself
what you must try and do
is give comfort to someone else
and if the closest someone else
is your very own wag-licking ole hound-dog
then you just get down on your knees
and let that comfort flow
while I was doing just that
and we were nose-to-nose
we looked into each other’s eyes
and I had another revealing flash of insight
I wasn’t giving comfort to my ole hound-dog
he was giving comfort to me.

Premium Member Be Merry

 BE MERRY

be merry, not blue.
blow your nose, no boo hoos,
dot your eyes.
i’ve provided an embroidered,
lacy handkerchief —
the old-fashioned kind,
that pulls up your bootstraps,
tickles your fancy,
almost too pretty, kind,
leaves no red streaks
creates smiles, not weak
and the square is perfumed
with a childhood scent
that twinkles your eyes.
gregarious giggles
cause your shoulders to shake,
put a kick in your step
as you decorate and bake.
the sweet little cloth
wipes the surliest frowns,
stirs up
cordial sentiments —
hug from mom, pat from dad
a round-robin of Winter friends,
a cup of hot cocoa,
the thrill of a visit
from reindeer and St. Nick.
be merry and bright
through the darkest of nights
be the candle that shines
in the window. its fog
fizzles into a magic act,
replaced by a happy gait.
be merry, wear a cherry
on top of your head, be
not faint —
have the gumption
to lead the sugar foray.
keep your square
and encourage
each cheek
of its kissable quality
its unshakable victory —
a marvelous merry awaits!

Premium Member Silent Flight

An owl takes off in silent flight
Listening for its prey's slightest move
For creatures which forage at night
Survival is a skill they must constantly prove

A heart shaped face belies its guile
Its head can swivel almost all the way around
It can hear a whisper from a mile
 In many habitats they abound

An echo drifts through forest's dark
As shadows slither to and fro
Two eyes peer out searching for its mark
Talons ready to strike a deadly blow

Owls send out their "ho ho hoos"
To warn other owls to stay away
From lofty perches they have full views
As they rule the realm they survey
                        ---

ABSENTEE MOTHER

And the kid shaking his head,
side to side he cries with dread,
“Mom, mom, where are you?”
Cursing and boo hoos...
In haste, to fountain she fled!

Jezebel Is Bawling

Jezebel, you ****
Gather your composure
before the curtain goes up
Wipe away those crocodile tears
falling from your right eye
Left eye is still a predator,
so don't touch the baited trap
when Jezebel starts to cry
Accept the Oscar award,
best actress you truly are
No one has your cunning,
you're the most devious by far
Jezebel, you drunken whore
That phony saline solution,
streaming down your face,
will mar your perfect makeup for sure
As you stagger across the stage,
spilling wine from a cup onto the floor
Fake insincere boo hoo hoos
aren't supposed to be delivered
before the final ceremony act
Let the losers take their bow,
but first pull your knife out their back
As hated rivals whisper how
you smeared them with fabricated attacks
Poisoned darts shot to the liver,
sinister sobs welcome the tragic news
Beware when Jezebel is bawling,
crying her eyes out over hurting you
Her toxic tears will have your skin crawling,
such a sick twisted Jezebel thing to do

Purple Neck

of a stem
