Notes About The Poem

Silent Flight

An owl takes off in silent flight
Listening for its prey's slightest move
For creatures which forage at night
Survival is a skill they must constantly prove

A heart shaped face belies its guile
Its head can swivel almost all the way around
It can hear a whisper from a mile
 In many habitats they abound

An echo drifts through forest's dark
As shadows slither to and fro
Two eyes peer out searching for its mark
Talons ready to strike a deadly blow

Owls send out their "ho ho hoos"
To warn other owls to stay away
From lofty perches they have full views
As they rule the realm they survey
                        ---

a charming poem Joseph, my first attempt was about a family of owls who lived in our garden but I changed my mind and didn't post it as I was unsure if DH wanted one bird. I must finish it one day:-) hugs Jan xx

I am "Little Owl" A name given to me by a dear Indian friend. ( He passed away ) Your thoughts take me there in the moment. To days long ago. This is beautiful in so many amazing ways. Such vivid images you paint, with your words. I shall place this in my favorites. Ahh, this photo. I am soaring through the blue. Soft sigh. ~ Brandy
