El mar no hace promesas.
Entra y sale.
A HONKY TONK WOMAN named ANGIE
heads out to our bar every night.
And those WILD HORSES with hombres
show up to get drunk or to fight.
Bar's sign, “RUBY TUESDAY” is red;
behind, though, they did PAINT IT BLACK.
Some sit down to start TUMBLIN DICE;
ROLLING STONES stop by for cognac.
Now, Angie and I hit it off;
Her sweet, gentle ways stole my heart.
YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT.
But kindness cements a good start.
Too soon, it got UNDER MY THUMB!
A huge fight began, as I said.
This bar gets its share of mean thugs!
I grabbed Angie's hand, and we fled!
Hindquarters
have formed a saddle
of this office chair.
Trotting comfortably
through
a wilderness scrub
some tag as poetry.
A large man on a little pony,
A small man
alone
on this vast plasma prairie.
daring to seek out outlaw ways.
Reaching
the end of a distant thought
drawing a mind picture,
raising hell
on a digital silver screen,
a place where hombres
herd images together,
then brand them,
with a slap on the rump.
I know rich men who have lived under bridges
and poor men that have never starved a day in their life.
I need you to know
Your dreams are not meant to remain between the hours of 11pm to 8am
Creceran si los riegas
They will grow if you water them
Si se riega usted mismo
if you water yourself
Caín
Resentido, egoísta y violento
Hijo de Adán y de Eva
Amaba el reconocimiento,
recibir grandes favores de
Dios y vivir a su manera
Odiaba que otro obtuviera
mayores logros,
que no lo honraran cuando
hacía algo y que le reprocharan
Creía que Dios no era capaz
de descubrir, juzgar y condenar
el mal, que dando poco se podía
recibir mucho,
que en la adoración no era
necesario dar algo bueno
y que había que destruir
a cualquier si chocaba
con los intereses y
aspiraciones personales
Su caso hizo entender a
los hombres que hay un
Dios justo que no tolera
la maldad, el abuso
y la violencia
contra el prójimo
Su gran deseo fue que
el Señor no lo castigara
tal como él mató a su hermano
Nació en las inmediaciones
del Huerto del Edén
El Asesino
Solo, triste, ensimismado
Ven, toca esta mi alma y pecho adormilado
Aún no he visto los rincones enlutados
Legends before their time
running free was their crime
Before they were even near
just as quickly they disappeared
One was black as night
the other fluffy and white
Two boys up to no good
running wild in the neighborhood
Peeing where they shouldn't pee
poo piles spreading misery
But the worst of their crime
was the random barking from behind
Just picking up the morning paper
their bark strikes like a viper
You jump into the porch roof
but they vanished in a poof
Washing the car
their bark scares you hard
You fling the water hose
onto angry neighbors it flows
Chasing cars chasing bikes
bark and growl with all their might
Running here no over there
what a crazy pair
But this is how the story ends
two little hombres are now fenced in
They invaded my yard and stole my heart
the Fat boys now would never depart
They are my little doggies my joy
forever my silly little Fat Boys

I hope I am able to make you smile,
Since that is what I am trying to do,
By using poetry to flirt with you,
Adding another sonnet to your file.
So, as this poetry begins to pile,
I will continue to try something new,
Doing something special that very few
Men will do, since writing is not their style.
If you like, I will continue to write
Your poetry, meant to light up your face.
I will keep my objective in my sight,
While continuing to set the right pace.
And, if you allow me to, I just might
Continue to pay respect to your grace.
Voy a seguir intentando algo nuevo,
Y, si me permiten, yo solo podria
Continuar a pagar respecto a su gracia.
small boy at a game kiosk
vending machines that smell stale
separate stairways climbing up
to hombres and mujeres
a ticket vendor chained to his desk
wearing shiny black shoes
below wasted legs
mandatory alcoholic in checked shirt
with faded vomit spots
the homeless sober bearded man
Safeway trolley overflowing
with trash from a lifetime
of buses come and gone
helpline poster for the runaways

a police cruiser
wrapped around
a profusion of cigarette butts
shapely thighs in halogen white

the neighborhood dance club
buses are late
people wait
the clock strikes one
