February Gray

The weather and my mood, dismal as KING 5’s Headline News
reports of politics, war and a cold rain forecast for tomorrow,
makes me take a break from TV or staring out the window
at gray Seattle skies to take a walk down on the waterfront.

Only 5PM, yet pier 62 dock lights are already on, pale and heatless
halos of dimness in the hard as iron air slowing everything down.
Dark waves caress the seawall, rolling rhythms of shushing silence
murmuring me to wonder, When was the last time we whispered?

Suddenly, as if a dream could control weather, the sky brightens.
Beams of soft sunlight, glowing rays from a blue lip on the horizon,
radiate a warmth felt on my face. I smile for the first time this day,
as wet forecasts and despairing news recede with the setting sun.

War

We pleaded for our lives
They showed us what death is
In our presence…
Our sisters were raped
Our mothers molested
Our soon to be wives
Deflowered in our korokoro eyes
Despite our muscles
We were rendered incapacitated
They don’t care about our emotions
Thinking we are as heatless as they
A shout earned us slaps
Our loved ones were killed
Right in our presence
Our women forced to practice lesbianism
In the name of pleasure
At their leisure
Our city turned to village
Our roads coloured with our fathers’ bloods
We became boyfriends of deflowered and raped girlfriends
All in the mighty name of war!

Now answer me!
Why war!
Why do we have to fight each other?
Answer me!
Why do we have to kill to satisfy?
Make others sad to be happy
Why do we?

Say no to war!
Say no to conflicts!
Say no to killing!
And let there be peace!

Ice Age

Try to open your third eye
Sharp your sixth sense
You can clearly see
This earth is still passing through ice-age.

People would say
This summer was the hottest ever!
If you’d inquire, you must see
The sun is now heatless
Not able to melt the deposited ice
Of this helpless earth.
Who knows when these fossils would get back
Their lives, how ?
Who knows, after stepping up how many stairs
Life would take the shape of human ?

Who can predict the exact moment
When this civilization would reach
At the zenith position of the square
In the lightless sky
When would this indolent sun
Burn the impurities of million hearts ?

Oh! The belated winter is unbearable
Fear in my body
Impotence in my flesh
I’m collecting my bones
To set fire and burn my soul.
One day ashes of my body would be deposited
Under the igneous rock
To irrupt as a Volcano.

Heartbreak Express

You caught me with your mesmerics
And gave me shots of hypnosis
Loving me senseless
Presenting yourself so faultless
Causing me to be guardless
Guardless and out to love with utter carelessness
Ignoring the foolishness
The foolishness in my stark openness
I was blinded by your comeliness
Bounded by your loveliness
I was far from realities
I helplessly dwelled in fantasies
You ignited the love candle so marvelous
I was awe-stricken by its flame so matchless
Became drawn to your angellic presence
'Cos the candle flame was heatless
I didn't mind your excesses
Didn't know it spelled heartbreak express
'Cos no bounds know your promiscuity-triggered benevolence.

I look out across the ice
towards an igloo in the distance
It is like a diamond sparkling in the night
I see a fire burning within it's centre
Refracting light through the crystallized walls

I walk towards the light
There are dogs basking in the warm glow
I feel the crunching of my boots on the ice
My breaths heatless smoke escapes my body
I pray that this is not an oasis
A cruel trick my mind is playing on me

Moments ago I longed for sleep
I longed for relief from a sea of white ice
To sit by an open flame
There it lies beneath a sphere of ice
Will I be allowed to enter?
Will it's heat be released to me
One foot in front of the other
Inches away
Angel emerges from the ice home
I am a welcomed guest
Warmth love
Now I can sleep
Ice and fire both offer shelter

The lessons of life remind me,
the lack of substance,
birth and rebirth without relevance or depth
death to some, “who cares”
life to others, “who cares”
meaningless unspoken voices echoing back and forth
up and down, upside down
change we can't; we won't
hearts locked in cold
it's ok to be without, “get a job you bum”
empty innards inside - cold empty spaces outside
cold, heat, starvation,
pain and death,
pointless ill-defined life,
human beings as acceptable losses, “heaven forbid”
heatless minds accept
heart-filled minds don’t.

This work is dedicated to the ill dressed, soiled, bearded, smoking, scraggly maybe once proud and loving individual, holding his “homeless” sign in his hand begging for money - as I hurriedly exited the freeway this morning, who I ignored – actually hid from. Have I become what I dislike in others? Hope not.

Speechless

Looking from a distance beyond the most wishing
The ones who don't listen are there in an instant,
Finding a way to tell you it's there
Closer and closer, to soon to compare,
In a world of feeling, In a dream of devotion
If love is involved it shall never be broken,
Step after step, my palms start to sweat
The remembrance of your face I just cant forget,
You caught my eye along with a smile
I was to far away I'll be there in awhile,
My heart was like silver turning to gold
Your love was in my hands I couldn't let go,
As I got closer my stomach turned, my heart was falling
you looked deep in my eyes telling me not to stop walking,
I was reaching to a world beyond our wildest dreams
Is the word love really what it seems,
I finally approached you and my body was heatless
I didn't come to think you would leave me, Speechless.

Shards of shimmering and redolent recollection, of images memories and distant life actions. Long since transpired, and now nothing holds my hand, yet thoughts still swarm my mind and sway my intentions today! overlaid reflections of former events flicker, as my desires and perceived values now play their scenes to a heatless aurora of irrelevance's, halogenic in flames and spouts of unresponsiveness, unyielding mediocrity now is coupled with both the current and contemporary, we are so bereft of creativity in the veins of social life, while in the public arteries flows the stuff of nightmare and mass animosity...

How much are you… willing to give?
Lay down your life so they may live.
In this cold world when passions flame
burns so bight beneath your name.

I still believe in what your said…
that time will come in days ahead
when love and hope will rule the day
Hate is forced to run away.

I look for your face, you hold my hand
Give me the grace to understand
Tell me now, what I should do?
Strength of will to see it through

Justice cowers, forced to hide
Too afraid to step outside
Could you stand firm of foot and say
I'll not let fear get in my way?

When a cold white world freezes the truth
Stillborn’s the child and stunts the youth?
Justice is blind, for if she saw,
She’d cry her eyes till they were raw.

I know you not; you know me less
With broken bone do I confess
Sightless eyes feel the pain,
of ruptured heats and punctured vain.

Sole less; heatless, skeletal, carcass.
Statue standing, arms erect
Belches out the crown’s reject.
Justice tight shuts her sight from view
With all that blood...well wouldn’t you?

As leaves flow in the breeze,
Change. Peanut butter needs jelly.
Water can taste dry - alone effortlessly.

Color is a difference. Superficially superficial.
A little boy lives without ... - Fearful. Tearful.
Cold without a roof.

My mommy isn't home,
Job searching in disguise. No. Heatless
And brrr, cold smiles ... anger heartache.

Daddy, what daddy?
TV was stolen, again.
Willy got cut up, bad.

Spend money on me, not war,
Nothing changed since Martin
Why? I'm hungry. Oneness.
